Any notice that the quote in some of the articles says "program currently called Fortnite"? They're probably renaming this megagame once they merge them so even Fortnite might be caught into this.

Also still kinda doubt FG will be the original Unity game, considering that I think MT only has Unreal devs nowadays.

But once again, we'll see what actually happens. Still don't know a lot, but if the Fortnite client is getting a more general rebrand, the losing identity concern could very well be gone. Biggest concern for me at this point is they'll probably have Fortnite's EAC policy, so rip Linux/Deck players... Time will tell though.
