Giving 5 points for a final effectively makes the "hard" ranked easier than normal.

Need superstar for all the rewards, star gives you +10 for every final. So to do it without winning you need 20 finals to go up a star tier.
Need gold for all the rewards here, silver tiers in this ranked are only 50 points. Giving you +5 for every final you make means you need only 10 finals to go up a tier.

So you need to do less to get the rewards in the "harder" ranked. Makes no sense.

I personally like it that way because each win feels more rewarding, you feel better after winning in a hard lobby and finally getting points

With this system you can't just say "oh well doesn't matter" after losing a final round. Now EVERY win matters, so you have to learn from your errors in order to rank up

And I don't consider myself a tryhard, I just like hard challenges

When there are only elimination rounds in the finals, they could give a small amount of points to 2nd and 3rd as well. And I still got one BIG Problem: Normally you were happy when many Beans are failing in Round 1 (e.g. Big Fans) and we went directly to the final. In Ranked we still need to play Round 2 and 3, which are very sweaty when there are only a few players. So in the end it's a disadvantage when only a few players survive Round 1...

No idea why there is so much seethe every time there is something that isn't a participation trophy. Most things are just a participation trophy on this game and that's fair enough, so the odd one here on there actually be a challenge is fine, but every time it happens, people complain.

Arguably makes it easier than normal ranked though.

Normal ranked is 10 points for the final, 200 to go up in star, so 20 finals to go up a rank in star.
X-treme ranked is only 50 points to go up. So +5 would mean only 10 finals to go up a rank.

If you can consistently make it to finals, it makes it easier to go up in the harder mode. Only thing that could make it slightly harder is 2 week limit, but 50 finals in two weeks is not huge and would just make it a grind rather than a skilled reward.

If it hands out points for the final, it should be 3 at most, to at least keep it a similar amount of finals to go up a rank as the "easier" ranked.

Ranked is fine, you may as well just give it a go if you want to try it. You can't lose points until gold in normal ranked and you can't lose points until Bronze in x-treme ranked, so you have a buffer where there is nothing to lose to get used to it.

Crown leaderboards were a bit different.

Xtreme ranked is only one mode, if it's too sweaty for you, you don't have to play it. You don't have to earn everything, you can just ignore it.

Weekly crown leaderboards affected every mode, there was no escape for the casual player and apparently timeouts did not count either, making beans even more aggressive. On top of that, players had minions to help them win and ruin anyone else's chances.

The tweet is still up as well, the wording MT used is "Unfortunately, it's encouraged behaviour and gameplay that goes against the spirit of the game".

Could be it's too competitive, but could just as easily point to prominent players teaming up to grief the average player and help certain players up the leaderboard.

Forcing three more rounds after more than 3/4 of the lobby falls in round one makes it so much more of a pain to play through. Like, we’ve got enough for a final already. I can understand if normal ranked is consistent with 4 rounds, but why draw the time out when essentially ONE person will come out gaining anything (rank points) in the end.

the scoring at silver is too strict

It is a shame because I like emotes, they're by far the favorite thing for me to collect in term of cosmetics
but having to win 5 (or potentially more) times in relatively quick succession is a big ask when you couldn't even get one win in the process of reaching silver

Hopefully they improve the leniency of this rank system in the future. I know they tried to make something harder, but this is just a mean system. A system where only the winning player gains while all 31 others either lose out or get nothing after Mario-Party-Jamboree-levels of filler rounds is kind of unfun in my humble opinion

But I did derank at least once or twice to being grabbed so you have to win more to account for that

It probably wouldn’t be so bad if ranked extreme didn’t force the extra rounds before the final, especially if more than 3/4 of the room gets eliminated in the first round. It’s such a slog to get to the final round, and the fact you only gain by winning is such a big time waste in my opinion

Fair, I wouldnt mind them reducing the rounds if needed though I imagine its done to make the ranked point calculation easier
