I'm about the same if I forget to keep up with interacting with my buddy. Doing routes def helps so you can get your buddy excited without always buying poffins. I walk a lot anyway so I make sure to do rout mes everyday when I'm close. I can't get anymore cells even if I can claim them -- won't give me additional credit -- but completing routes rlly does the trick

Buying the ticket also increases rare candy drops from raids in general, so that means remote raids can give you them as well, just not guaranteed like catching Lucario
