It takes so long because it is a free bot and gives everybody in this server free access to using the bot. Gengar bot waits for you for 45 seconds before it cancels and moves onto the next person. You just gotta be quick about it. I would suggest trying to connect while standing in a pokecenter, and already have “0000 40” typed out when waiting for a code
