Honestly, I started a new game not that long ago, and invested my watts into Quick Balls and Dusk Balls. I've had very little issues with catching almost every pokemon I can in a small span of time

Just go through each area thoroughly, quick ball each pokemon you don't have yet, and battle or run from the ones that don't get caught first try, you'll have plenty of pokemon in no time
