AirPod Max V3 TB - Midnight (Jenny)

I’ll start off by saying these impressed me a lot, especially after seeing mixed reviews of earlier AirPods Max reps. I currently use the Bose 700’s, so that will be my main point of comparison, but I’ll stay unbiased.

Overall Rating: 9/10

Sound (8/10): These sound great with solid bass and a nice balance between instruments. They don’t match my Bose 700’s completely, but they are still impressive. Sometimes vocals feel a bit dim compared to the background, though that could be fixed with EQ tweaks.

Noise Cancellation/Transparency (9/10): Much better than I expected. I heard older versions were weak, but that is not true here. The noise cancellation blocks out fans and traffic without feeling too heavy. Coming from Bose, these hold their ground.

Design (9.5/10): The Midnight color looks amazing and changes slightly depending on lighting. The weight feels just like my brother’s real AirPods Max. These look very 1:1.

Build Quality (8/10): They look and feel premium, but there is a small metal creak when stretching the hinges. The power button has a bit of rattle, but the crown knob feels smooth and solid. Hinge movement is steady and does not slide on its own.

Battery/Charging (10/10): Great battery life. After two hours of use, only 6% drained. Charges fast with USB-C.

Packaging (9/10): The box looks authentic and includes all the usual paperwork and cable.

1. How heavy are these compared to the retails? I realized that if I use the retails for about an hour, the back and base of my head start feeling uncomfortable. I assume the reps would be the same weight as retails more or less, but do you think they might’ve made the headband or general construction of the headphones more comfortable for longer use, as you noted with the earcups?

2. Do you own a Mac by any chance? If so, how’s the auto switch between iOS and Mac, and is there any connection issues with macOS in general, such as volume control issues etc? TIA

It’s hard to tell if it’s exactly 1:1 since lighting is a big factor, but based off other reviews I’ve seen I would say starlight is probably the closest to 1:1

They are very very similar in weight to the genuine ones, from my limited use they have been extremely comfortable, the headband and earcups morph to your head shape phenomenally. I don’t own a Mac so I’m afraid I don’t have an answer for that one

Yea that’s what I figured when I was driving to pick these up. And I really don’t mean to whine, I’m glad I was able to pick up a pair for a low price, but genuinely they’re just too bulky and the sound and ANC is more or less comparable to my APP2 retails. Nothing life changing like all those Reddit reviews will have you believe, maybe marginally better. But because they’re heavy and also, just 20 hr battery lol, I don’t see myself using them much. I really only needed these for the aesthetics and certain use cases, so if I can’t get over these issues, then imma just get reps for cheaper. I’d prolly only be using this like a few times a month anyways. Don’t really need retails for that.

Idk let’s see, I’ll come back with an update in a week lol.

I don't feel them heavy tbh i can wear them for hours without problem. Though about TB, it can be uncomfortable for some , especially for big heads as they fit tight compared to retail.
Maybe max is just NOT for you lol

They have a tiny bit of leak at really high volumes

But that’s normal, my gen AirPods Pro’s have sound leakage when I listen to music on max volume, and when I tried my friends gen AirPods Max they’d also have sound leakage at like 80-90%

I think we’re all just being overly cautious because we’re getting reps so we’d be more self aware

I’ve been staring at every picture I can get of the midnight rep for over a week now, and I think it looks fine. The blue-ness is pretty lightning dependent, just like on retails, but yes, reps lean ever so slightly more blue. Still nothing to worry about. It’s not enough for anyone gonna notice when you’re out and about imo.

dont listen to people saying audio leaks, it doesnt. mine work great and have extremely minimal audio leak at even 90%, not that i would ever use them at that volume even if i were in a nightclub. with that said, ofc the audio leaks to some degree at 80-100% volume but why tf would u even listen at that volume if ur a normal person, and have already boosted bass through spotify/apple music + flycc app
