What I'm trying to get at - I know new products take some time to iron out, especially with these guy's development budget which is undoubtedly lower than Apple's. But my boys and I also want them ASAP. So, I'm trying to time this to get it when it's solid and won't have actual QC/hardware issues that I will need to RMA for.

No one know if there is new batch or so called revision batch. The one which are selling now may be the final version too as it is already massive selling in the china market just that 5.3 does not got popular as the 5.2 coz many already have the 5.2 in hand and does not see the needs to upgrade. As you can see the 5.2 also takes time to improved since the first launch and they improved overtime by stages of OTA firmware updates. My best bet is either you wait for a few months or so before you get the 5.3 or you could just get them now, reviews for the 5.3 are also up in this channel as you can see they all work great so far. And the most important thing is you would not know if the seller got new batch or final version and sell it to you because they would need clear off their old stock before they got new stocks. For QC/hardware issues it's just pure luck, they are not guarantee as it is electronic product from china.
