Save data gone?

My friend's save data has seemingly been corrupted. He started the game and was launched into the tutorial level despite having a lvl 74 character. He no longer has his character anymore. My best guess is that a steam cloud sync error occurred. He tried verifying game files and re-syncing, but neither worked.

I can also provide his discord ID so that you may work with him directly if that's easier.
