Hahahahahaha not Rold starting to feel inspired to write the millionth thing on his list of writing priorities that will never remain much more than an idea, nope not me:
Kalego goes out for dinner and drinks with Robin just to stop him pestering him about it. He does his best to be at his worst in the hopes of Robin never wanting to meet up again after that; but then Robin is very happy to spend time with Kalego anyway, and non-judgmental of his messiness and bad attitude. Later, Kalego reflects that he's had the first night out where he felt totally free to be unthinking and genuine, and not put on airs and seem a composed, mature demon. And Kalego... devi, Kalego realizes afterward that he enjoyed that.

Kalego was wearing his ugliest shirt.

Not his worst shirt–that was reserved for the fancy, stuffy one that hitched up weird around his hips and scraped at his wing roots with its expensive and tasteful but oh-so-itchy fabric–but his ugliest, an overlarge thing that flopped awkwardly at his elbows and bundled pillow-like at his neck, and which he usually wore only at home, on those rare, free nights he wanted to lounge around in warm priority-free coziness.

Usually no demon saw this shirt. In fact Kalego had ever dressed to impress, even on the most mundane occasions outside the house; but this was an exception.

That’s because he didn’t want to impress, this time.

No, far from it; this time he intended to be foul and slovenly, an inattentive mess of a demon that would leave his escort both disappointed in him and discouraged. He’d only accepted the invite out to get the damn man off his back about going someplace together–and hoped this outing would finally sate the demon’s interest in rampaging through Kalego’s personal time to claim it for himself.

If a bad outing could potentially make that pesky, blustery Bars Robin finally give Kalego some much-needed space, then this excursion–though a pain in the ass to weather–would all be worth it, in the end.

So here Kalego was, a generous twenty-five minutes late, looking his absolute worst and designing to act it, too, his ugly shirt–did he mention it was unwashed?–the least of the problems he conspired to foist upon Robin before the evening was through.

“Wow, Kalego, you look great!”

Damn it all, there went part A of his plan out the devi window.

"I avoided the vitals like you said, but is that really ok?" Robin asks, peering at him from his side. Kalego calmly raises his wine.

"I don't know who was behind that little trick, but this was just a warning. If they try to come for our treasure again, we will show no mercy." Kalego takes a slow sip of his drink, shutting his eyes to fully enjoy the taste of the expensive wine before bothering to continue, "Speaking of which—your actions today were benefitting of that, Newbie."

After the whole giddy from praise Robin and the crushing of his head for being so happy scenario, the two finally calm down and return to sitting.

"It's kinda a shame I couldn't shoot anywhere serious, but..." The menace's voice falls uncharacteristically... quiet. Almost like a breathless murmur. It catches Kalego's attention and causes him to glance over to the other demon.

Robin's face was flushed—not from alcohol, Kalego could tell—and his lips were curled up into a smile that had his fangs on near full display. Robin then turns to him as his eyes crinkle even more with his stretching smile, voice quivering ever so slightly with barely restrained excitement.

"At least, like that, they must've struggled to make their escape. Even though they were so confident they would do so easily. Demons like that are my absolute favorite to pierce through, you know?"

"............ Hm." Kalego eventually responds. And shit. Fuck. Was the alcohol stronger than he thought? No, there's no way he would get affected by something as minor as alcohol. So then why is that damn menace........ Kalego opts to order a refill in lieu of thinking about that thought any further.

he is secretly relieved when robin is back but instead of saying that he just scolds robin even harder to let out his frustrations for not being able to get his work done
