#Face tracking becomes less correct when VTS is not on the screen

When alt tabbing in a game or anywhere else, the model seems to become less expressive
This is probably due to face tracking or something
This works with every model, i just downloaded a bunch to test
Note that it only happens when the VTS is not on the screen, so even if a little of it is visible, it face tracks perfectly.
I have disabled GPU scheduling, ran it from .bat file (no steam), gave it high priority and tried every fix from FAQ i think, but nothing seems to work
I added an embed to show how it bugs out (im keeping the same face throughout the recording)
am i missing something?

You just gotta not have it minimized

#

Otherwise the PC will focus resources elsewhere

#

It doesn't need to be visible, just needs to not be minimized

#

So for me I'll have VTS and Vbridger open, then open my program(s) of choice, and stream like that. My other program(s) cover VTS from being visible to me, but it still tracks relatively smoothly

#

And for additional tracking help, I used an exe txt file that a friend of mine created to increase the priority to tracking apps, and open apps I use for streaming in a specific order

#

When I wake up again I'll send you the format of the file so you can apply it to your own PC, under the assumption it's a Windows PC

start "VTube Studio" /High "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VTube Studio\VTube Studio.exe"
TIMEOUT /T 20
start "Vbridger" /High "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VBridger\VBridger.exe"
start "Streambot" "F:\BortoBackUp\New Folder\Downloads\Streamer.bot-x64-1.0.1\Streamer.bot.exe"
#

you'll have to save it as a .bat and adjust what you need to

#

like the path to Vtube Studio, path to Vbridger, etc.

#

also it's generally good practice to keep tracking software on the main drive (usually C) because the speed from drive to the CPU and GPU is important in real time tracking

#

If you have more than one drive and the type of game you are playing doesn't require near real time results, I'd recommend adding that into the other drive. This is so the drive doesn't need to do the multitasking alongside the CPU and GPU

Which version of Windows are you using? It might help figure out the recent tracking lag you are experiencing

dusk arrow
#

windows 10 pro

solemn peak
#

Also which method of tracking are you using

dusk arrow
#

i'm not using vbridger rn

solemn peak
#

It might be a Windows 10 specific issue in that case

dusk arrow
#

are you on windows 11?

solemn peak
#

Yeah

dusk arrow
#

have you turned off anything in order for it to work? i looked some stuff up and found that task manager in win11 has "green leaf" or something

#

messes with optimization of background windows

#

i mean i could switch to windows 11 and test it out

solemn peak
#

Because I use the bat file, it doesn't go into efficiency mode

dusk arrow
solemn peak
#

Setting the priorities prevents it from going into efficiency mode

#

(This resets every boot)

dusk arrow
#

what if i set the priority manually? will it turn off efficiency mode too?

#

or does it not exist in windows 10 at all

solemn peak
#

In theory it's supposed to even if you do it manually

#

But idk if Windows 10 is specifically the cause of the problems here

#

It's something Denchi might need to look into when possible

dusk arrow
#

hmm

dusk arrow
#

i think i can just run a VM with the VTS on windows 11

#

and see if it fixes

solemn peak
#

It might

dusk arrow
#

is VTS more supportive towards win11 or win10 though? or are they equal

#

cuz i know linux isn't supported for sure

solemn peak
#

It's not ideal to need to do that, at the same time I don't really know a better way of resolving this without having Denchi tinker with the code for Windows 10 ver

dusk arrow
#

so there's 2 different versions for win11 and win10?

solemn peak
#

In code it might look different but in the software it comes as one thing so I'm doing a bit of assumptions here

dusk arrow
#

i see

#

how can we get denchi here

solemn peak
#

Mention it in #ideas-and-suggestions

dusk arrow
#

this is an update now that i've switched to windows 11 from windows 10
the face tracking no longer fails at all, even if the window is minimized or is lost focus
it remains stable from as far as i can tell, i tried to keep the same face expression to show it

this was indeed an issue with windows 10, so it should be investigated more, as windows 11 seems to have it fixed
@solemn peak you were correct! i think 🙂

#

its probably an issue with windows 10's background processes optimizations

dusk arrow
#

happy to announce it's back again

#

i really have no idea what's causing this 😭

dusk arrow
#

confidence gets lower (thus worse tracking) if a window is blocking the VTS
same if VTS is minimized or unfocused 😔

#

confidence when tabbed out

mint tendon
#

Have you tried running both vts and obs as admin

dusk arrow
#

and yeah i've tried everything from lag troubleshooting page

#

only obs as admin helped as of now

dusk arrow
#

hey @mint tendon sorry to bother but its happening again now
running both OBS and VTS admin
facetracker, VTS and OBS are set to high priority too
you can see the mouth failing to track properly once VTS window is off screen 😔

mint tendon
#

Do you have enough light on your face? Vts is bright and would light up your face when it's up and when you hide it that light is gone so could be making it harder to track.

dusk arrow
#

yeah youre a genius 😭

#

the light is indeed kind of smol

#

hmm but how do i even fix that

#

i'll need some kinda lamp

mint tendon
#

If the room light does not work cos it's behind you then sadly yes you will need some form of lamp

dusk arrow
#

i see, thanks
