#Low FPS in Vtube Studio

Hello!

I have been using Vtube Studio for years now at this point but I use different models. I noticed I was getting very low fps on a recent model so I went to check other models I have and I average around 38 fps on my models. The current one I use is floating around 29 fps. I tried the basic Akari model to compare and that runs at 59 fps. This is the fps without anything else running.

I have:

  • Set my nvidia control panel to for sure run at 63 fps for vtube studio
  • My rig is running a Ryzen 7 3700 8-Core / Nvidia Geforce 3070 / 32 GB RAM
  • G-sync is not a thing on my device
  • I pair with using an iphone to track- vbridger+ifacialmocap
  • Both my monitor's refresh rates are at least 75 hz.
  • I have tried running vtube studio without steam
  • I have tried setting Vtube Studio to Realtime Priority in task manager.
  • My CPU and GPU say that at most they are running at 40% with Vtube Studio open.
  • It's not the model because others are reporting higher fps (this is a customizable).

Did you try reinstalling vtuber studio

#

C:\Users"YOUR-USER"\AppData\LocalLow\Denchi

#

delete thsi fodler

#

also unisntall vtube studio from steam and install it again

#

as well as well make a copy of all the folders

#

and everything you ahev inside a copy somwhere else in your desktop

#

This seems to have increased it by .5 fps.

I uninstalled Vtube Studio and deleted the Denchi folder.

Is there anything else I should delete?

Does having a lot of models in the Live2dModels folder create issues?

verbal dagger
#

apart of taht is mostly jsut models being unoptimized KatouHmm

errant marsh
#

okay I'll try cleaning out the folder of models I don't use

and see

errant marsh
#

Nope not really any better with cleaning out some of my other models from the folder.

#

Does this tell anything

Suiika model for example says the in the logs= [live2dphysics] measure avg physics fps for model is around 45 fps and that matches the fps I see over time in the top left corner.

This model I'm picturing says an average of 29 fps in the corner over time but is reporting [live2Dphysics] is 60 fps on average. Why are those two fps so different?

Gosh I'm so lost on what to do about the fps. Is there any more info I can provide?

Can the iphone affect the fps of vtube studio on my computer?

verbal dagger
#

No, it will jsut lag the tracking

errant marsh
#

What do you mean?

I currently use an iphone XR with ifacialmocap into vbridger for tracking. Is that causing lag?

I still have no idea what is causing this since my gpu is literally at 4% usage when using VTS which tells me I don't think my gpu is properly applying to VTS.

There is the possibility too much VRAM is being used. In which case I came across this video posted more recently:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxXT2EBpFuE

No generative AI was used during the production of this video (enjoy bad photoshops).

The idea behind this video originated right after my debut, when I realized that even with 16 GB of VRAM in certain games I am getting close to utilizing my entire graphics card. I already knew that texture resolution was massive. I didn't however know how muc...

the problems of fps it can be vram but in your case i think is your cpu, also it depends of the model

errant marsh
#

CPU says 20% usage...

#

hmm

verbal dagger
#

like this

#

and probably one will eb at 100%

errant marsh
#

why is it not evenly using cores?

verbal dagger
errant marsh
#

(this is with vtube and vbridger open)

#

so this does look like CPU needs to be changed out then?

#

hmm

#

i have an asrock B550M motherboard which may limit me on what CPU I can change to

verbal dagger
#

you are using a 7 years old cpu to be fair

errant marsh
#

oh. so it's just a matter of old age?

#

I see

#

so if I got a today-o'-clock same ryzen it would be fine again?

verbal dagger
#

mostly because the lag happens even on my end with a 7900x i have the same issue with the program jsut using certain cores

#

it is jsut the normal cpu behavior

#

it will be better not exactly fine

errant marsh
#

:/ hmm I just want to figure out what part I needa replace to boost my fps which is running around 35 fps with my model and it's a customizable and I am aware that other people run it at 60 fps. I don't need the fps to be perfect, I just wanna know which part will give me the biggest change I guess

verbal dagger
#

from your specs yes your cpu is the worse thing you ahve

errant marsh
#

suiika model runs at 44 fps for me for example

#

ah

#

okay.

verbal dagger
#

yeah but usually customizable models are not well optimized because

errant marsh
#

noted.

verbal dagger
#

they have everyhting running at once

#

even normal model can run well but way too big models will work laggy

errant marsh
#

true. but if so many others are running it at 60 fps then I resort to acknowledging something is wrong with my build also.

verbal dagger
#

with your same specs?

errant marsh
#

Nope they have better specs most of them.

verbal dagger
#

yep... your cpu is the biggest bottleneck right now

errant marsh
#

Alright! I usually look to upgrading one part every year to two years anyway. Last year it was RAM.

#

Thanks for the advice!

verbal dagger
#

5800x3d if you can should eb compatible with your mobo

#

or a 5900x

errant marsh
#

Ryzen 5900x or Ryzen 5900x? is that what you are refering to?

verbal dagger
#

Ryzen 5800x3d or Ryzen 5900x, any of these 2 the x3d should work better with games
