#microphone input lag

i have searched thoroughly to see if someone else has raised this specific issue in regards to the mic input lag specifically, but i am so sorry in advance if this has been answered - i have scoured everywhere and this is my last resort!

i like to use my microphone for input for mouth movement. fairly consistently, it will just lag in the 'resulting parameters' from my mic input.

you can see the issue at this timestamp (sorry in advance i was getting so frustrated haha):
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1759012378?t=1h0m46s

i speak into my mic, and it takes a solid second to actually load the parameters, causing a desync between what i am saying and my model. i know that simply turning this off would resolve it, but i really like how much more expressive it is to have this feature on, so i would much rather be able to fix this input issue

things i have tried:
running vtube studio as an admin
clicking 'high gpu priority' in the app
going into my task manager to set vtube studio as a high priority

turning down my games quality a LOT or closing any external programs help, but i really, really don't want to have to do that - my computer should be able to handle this.

i don't know what specs are helpful, but:
gpu is nvidia geforce rtx 2060 ti
cpu is 12th gen intel core i5-12600K
my iphone 12 mini is my face tracking

@whole coral When does this happen? Does it just randomly happen after a while?

#

Does clicking the "Reload" button fix it at all?

whole coral
#

@merry glade it happens usually around 20 to 30 minutes in. hitting 'reload' helps for about 5 minutes

Do you have any audio processing software that could be causing processing delay?

#

Also, try rebooting and connecting your microphone in a different USB port.

#

and thank you i will try the different usb

Denchi, that happens to me, but I've always chalked that up to plugins.

I tried changing the different usb port but it still happens unfortunately

Or, what kind of plugins do you mean?

@whole coral Can you post your logs?

How do I find my VTS logs?

Please navigate to the local files of VTS. This can be done in Steam by clicking on the ⚙️ gear icon then Manage > Browse Local Files (see image below)

If you are on Windows, please navigate to
VTube Studio_Data\StreamingAssets\Logs

If you are on Mac, please navigate to
VTubeStudio.app\Contents\Resources\Data\StreamingAssets\Logs

...and then find the most relevant log (probably the newest one).

# merry glade It shouldn't be <:NyanThinking:697709334620012614>

I think it's just overlipsync doing memory garbage collection. Like there is about 200ms of delay between audio in and OBS, but sometimes the lips keep moving for like 2 seconds after the audio stops. It eventually comes back, which is why it feels like a memory leak or Garbage Collection. However it is worse when the VTS API is invoked (eg the heartrate plugin) which I assume is because of Unity co-routines are not threads so that GC event runs concurrently with VTS API GC.

I was having lipsync issues last stream as well Denchi but I have not had a chance to look into the cause of mine

#

@merry glade Happened again this stream. Only way to fix was to disable and re-enable the mic in VTS. Not minimising VTS made it not happen for longer but I am not sure what is causing it to have an issue.

#

There was two types. Delayed output and random output after normal output

yep!

Go back to game capture and remove the Spout2 source.

#

I did that for my last stream and I had zero lip sync issues

#

the 2 streams I did before that I was using Spout2 and had the mic issues.

#

See if that sorts it for you as well. If it does will can start to try and work out why its causing the issue

whole coral
#

thank you! i was having the issue before spout was integrated with vtube studio (and i had hoped it would fix it!) but i'll go back to not using it

The lag is very much in VTS itself and not streaming to obs lag. It fixed it self for a short time if I disabled/reenabled mic in vts.
