How / when would i use the strafe button

Everytime i play some Attack Aircraft there is always the ‘Strafe’ button
near the hud. I always thought “Why won’t the Strafe Button work?” -I thought🤔

You hold it down and use it to keep aiming in one direction while moving in a different direction

so if your enemy is north of you you can strafe east/west while aiming north
