🟥=stalling speeds
🟦=to slow for maneuvering
đźź©=perfect for maneuvering
🟨=too fast for maneuvering

#

And maybe a tutorial?

#

But I’m not sure if when you maneuver at 🟦 you stall and when you maneuver at 🟨 the plane breaks apart or if the game should just not let you maneuver during 🟦 or 🟨

Except you can just make blue and yellow just white

#

“Ideal speed” can be a stat based off a planes supposed weight or somethibg

#

However this wouldnt mean much unless turning = speed decrease and im not sure people are ready for that

Without speed decreasing from turning

#

However i think its a step away from “stall = tightest”

#

Which is preferable

bronze ivy
#

Yeah, without turning drag there’s no sustained/unsustained turns, or even any energy management

winged lake
#

However i think ideal speed could be good to make planes like the MiG-31 and F-86 much different

bronze ivy
#

So it gives that at least

winged lake
#

Im surprised nobody discussed this

#

I did last year once i think

#

Wait your talking about the ai behavior right?

bronze ivy
#

In a sense

winged lake
bronze ivy
#

That’s 1c flow
In a symmetric fight with constant degree/sec, no matter what speed either of you are at you’ll both get nose-on at the same time

winged lake
#

You can predict their movement everytime

#

They are designed to two circle you

bronze ivy
#

Yeah, the first thing I tried to do in same-plane fights was fly faster and 2c around them but I learned the constant deg/sec meant outrating them isn’t possible

winged lake
#

People who are crazy good can go a match without taking damage

bronze ivy
winged lake
#

Yeah its kinda goofy

#

There is no ideal speed

#

Except 0.1

bronze ivy
#

The whole time I was assuming deg/sec was just a fixed variable

winged lake
winged lake
#

But since your slower the tighter it is is all that matters

#

Since it doesn’t change

#

Dogfight meta is still just slowing down

#

And speeding up during head ons

#

F-22N is the meta fighter (unless it changed after speed rework)

#

SU-3X probably achieves the same with more health

bronze ivy
#

Turn rate is entirely dependent on deg/sec
Turn radius is speed + deg/sec too
Generally best radius =/= best rate but here it does

#

so here if you can out-rate them in 2c you can also out-radius them in a 1c

winged lake
#

Basically yeah

#

Mig 31 is goinf 0.1 m/s here

#

F-22 i wanna say around 50 m/s

bronze ivy
#

Perspective is difficult without reference points but I see it

winged lake
#

Basically the mig-31 is not going forward so its radius is crazy

bronze ivy
#

I assume mig31 is the worst rater in the game?

winged lake
bronze ivy
#

Gotcha

bronze ivy
#

Yeah after some thought I think the current system works fine
in order to properly simulate the sustained/unsustained turning required for 1c/2c flow it’d have to be done the long way: turning bleeds speed proportionally and wing stall and g-loc have to be variables instead of constants (as they are currently)
Which would be drastic changes to the existing flight physics

So you know when and when not to maneuver

winged lake
#

Helicopters prior to nerf were the best aircraft in the entire game, ever.

winged lake
#

I also believe slow speed does not change, so higher top speed is still better

bronze ivy

bronze ivy
#

True, I assumed all the aircraft’s top speed and acceleration would both be proportional

winged lake
#

For reference the F-16 having a higher acceleration then speed stat makes it so it goes 0-50 in less then a second

#

0.83*
