there isnt much difference from the F-20 and the F-5E. reminds me of the su-27 and su-37.

I know it's been said before but it was quite different, a completely new avionics and weapons suite, making it A/G capable with laser and radar guided munitions, a quite capable BVR fighter able to track up to 10 targets at once, can carry AIM-7s and AIM-120s, a much better engine that made it 65% more powerful than the F-5E, and it could even do air to sea missions as it had the ability to carry a harpoon anti ship missile.. It was meant to be a competitor to the F-16A, which it is honestly better than as it can actually fight beyond visual range (F-16A didn't get illuminator radar), it's one disadvantage that held it back other than the exports issue was the tiny radar cone, there was only so much radar you could cram in it. By the time the F-16C came around, its bigger nose cone allowed it to get a better radar.
