Do you think there will be any substantive rules changes regarding the safety car, especially at the end of a race? Or anything related to going off-track or "pushing" another car off-track? I tend to think a statement of principles is better than trying to think about every possible corner case. And I think consistent enforcement of the existing off-track rules (possibly through paid stewards) is what is needed more at the moment.

Simple, change the rules to say no pitting under the SC and change the wording of any lapped cars to ALL lapped cars

And no tyre changes under red flags

I think the best would be you can change under SCbut not in red flag. Every lapped car must overtake the SC. My oppinion is when a SC come out with 5 laps to go or less, stop the race and make a 2 laps ending, a bit like Nascar is doing(the prob is for the fuel, they will maybe not have an off fuel to continue)

A) he is a Quali merchant and drops a lotta places in a race. His race pace is pretty bad. Again, Quali doesn’t yield points. Russell wouldn’t have gotten a podium at Spa if a race had actually went on

B) He has been beaten by his teammate in 2019 and 2020 and in 2021 if you consider the circumstances

2019 - Kubica scored a point, Russell didn’t, Kubica beats Russell

2020 - Excluding Sakhir 2020 (where Russell drove the Merc and got 3 points) Russell and Latifi both scored no points. Latifi had a better finish than Russell. Latifi beats him

I can agree with point A. He seems similar to both Bottas and Leclerc in being better in Q than races. But hard to judge for sure since the Williams was poor on race pace compared to Q. And he also beat Bottas in race pace after just spending a weekend in the car which was quite embarrassing to Bottas and promising looking for Russell.

But what we must remember is that the cars will be completely different next season. Never forget how Vettel who'd won 4 titles in a row got beaten clearly by Ricciardo 2014 when the cars changed alot last time. So we'll see 😇

I got bored in school today so I decided to make an F1 track in Cork, Ireland limiting myself to the streets in the city.

The purple arrow indicates the direction the track is run (anti-clockwise)

The Green and Red are DRS zones.

The Blue Line is the Pit Lane

The Blue Dots are DRS detection zones.

The Orange circle is a bit where I messed up. That corner should be a 90° right.

Also that bit after the Red DRS zone is basically a slightly bigger version of Baku's castle section which lasts from the second hard right up to the tight left hander. Theres also a large roundabout there but i decided not to route round it as it seemed a bit pointless to me.

The track is 6.7km long. :)

The Red DRS is 1km long and the green DRS is about 850m.

To be fair I don't think I did that badly consideribg the limitations i used. Feedback is always welcome :D

This is purely for racing. I ignored all logistical shenanigans that may occur. Plus with the way Cork people are if an event this big was to be held in their city i think people would be more concerned with getting to the pub rather than work 😂😂😂

Theres also several more bridges crossing the river so congestion wouldn't be too bad overall. You can still get into the insude area of the track as it goes under 2 vacant bridges so people can still cross over :)

Also theres a direct rail connection as the Pitlane would be buult in a dusused rail yard next to a major train station and the track actually goes under a railway bridge at turn 2 and over the railway on the second (sort of) straight 🙂🙂

Toto asking for no safety car was actually much earlier in the race so let's not get muddled.

It's not fine for any team principal to make requests and race director to follow them.

Frankly I wish this was all done with however this makes it worse. The fact RB told Masi how to restart the race and he did exactly that is worse than what we'd heard before.

Toto's request whilst also wrong had no impact on the overall result and likely made no difference to what Masi did anyway. There was no need for a SC so Masi stuck with the VSC as he would have done anyway.

RB on the other hand gave specific instructions to the race director on how to get lapped cars out the way (against the regulations and forgetting previous precedents) and he did exactly what they asked.

There's a difference, its the closing stages of the race, and the incident that GIO had wasn't as dangerous as Latifi's. A VSC and slowing down the drivers is reasonable. For Latifi's crash, officials had 2 options, red flag the race and have a standing start in order that the grid were, or bring out the safety car which could end up finishing the race. They took the second option, but as you saw with the footage of the Red Bull engineer directing the RACE DIRECTOR, the safety car procedure was clearly manipulated in Red Bulls favour as they took a gamble with bringing max on soft tyres.

Even Brundle felt quite uncomfortable after seeing the footage, I can agree there should be a bit more evidence shown, but with what there was its quite shocking that officials and race directors just got their hand held through that procedure by a contending team

If the rules allow team principals to speak to the race director we will have the same issue. That needs to stop.
Unfortunately it's a bit late for last season but it can't be denied that a title deciding decision was influenced by RB. They need to make sure it never happens again and that rules are followed.
