But what I'm talking about is how they held RB up on purpose in the pits, and now this. Changing engine 2 races in a row just to start in the back with Max + the bad penalty system have benefited them massively in crashing the RB's, which is sad. I don't like to see stuff decided cuz of bad rules and systems and teams exploiting them to the max.

Would had felt the same way had it been the other way around, but the fact that Mercs can't handle losing for once is very lame to me.

It's tough because any team in their position would do the "dirty" side of the sport to win. None of us enjoy it but its always going to be the way in any sport. All part of playing the game, doesn't make it right though.

Bottas was hired by Merc since they wanted to avoid a new HAM vs ROS according to many people, which makes sense. He is a humble guy who Q'ed well but lacked race pace. The perfect teammate for HAM in a superior car. So well done by Merc there! Will be interesting to see how they handle RUS next season...

I believe, when a team takes new PU, etc., it goes into the “pool” of PU used and can use them as they see fit. The one thing I’m not sure about is the impact on the cost cap.

Yep, the strategy that Toto spoke about was adding another PU to the pool so they have 2 to choose from for the remaining races.
(As well as trying to hold up Max 😛)

If you can switch between 2 it equals less wear and therefore more power so Bottas has more PUs to choose from than RB now

And I'm starting to think, what if the Red Bull is just a Mclaren/Ferrari tier car but Max is just crazy good

Ultimately next year Mercedes will be at a huge advantage if they have 2 good drivers again, because then they can just make a strategy around Max who would be 1v2 loosely speaking

I'd like to see Vettel go back to Red Bull honestly, then maybe we'll see if the car is good and Max's team mates were bad, or if the car is bad and Max is just an insane driver

The car was much different back then when Vettel won his titles. I think Ricciardo was pretty darn good in a Red Bull.

It's hard to say, but I think the RBR suits certain drivers more than others... I mean, look how much Ricciardo struggled with the McLaren this season... he is just now getting it together.

I remember getting the feeling last season that Sainz would had been best suited for the 2nd seat in RB. Which is ironic since he used to be their driver. Just felt like his driving style was closest to Max then but could be wrong of course.

Cars became harder to drive 2014 with the regulation changes, and that didn't suit Vettel as well as it did Ricciardo. Will be interesting to see all drivers handle the new cars next season as well!

Alonso def deserves more titles than he had. Was close to more a few times in a worse car and then hoped McLaren would go and do a Mercedes, which they absoloutely didn't 😅 Feels like many forgot how good he actually was/is cuz of those years in the midfield. He made F1 worth watching during Vettel's dominance and basically all drivers on the grid said he was the best driver even when Vettel had taken 3-4 straight WDC's, pre-Merc crazy dominant car and Alonso's GP2 engine.
