McLaren had a different material off skids in their wooden board underneath the floor which increased in volume when heated, protecting the board. Interesting thing is that they will have to move up the car for about a mm or two to prevent this happening again, decreasing the downforce on tracks with loads of corners. This is gonna be a thrilling finale of the season

Since the new front wings will have active aero, I wonder if they can be easily replaced in the pit if damaged during race. Current rear wing damage would mean a DNF since they take a long time to be replaced, and I assume it's because of all the wirings for the DRS.

It's a good question. I always thought the rear wing took so long in replacing because of how it's physically attached based on the sheer forces it has to handle but the electrical attachments is a fair point.

There's a lot of really good electrical connecters that can be attached/detached easily these days but whether they're up to F1 standards 🤷‍♂️

Won't be long for us to find out once the first front-wing gets busted 😆

The front wing, currently, is fixed to the nose module which is attached further upwards on the nose cone structure, like so

If you happen to get a good view of a team's pit box during a race, you'll usually see a stack of tyres as well as spare nose cones on a rack, like this, ready to replace the wing if it gets damaged.

They're attached by specially designed quick-screws so the teams can remove the whole nose cone quickly and attach another

On top of the DRS zones being "removed", the overtaking function of DRS is being replaced by the 'Overtake' mode now coming from a battery. The cars currently have battery enhanced power but it's being beefed up for 2026.

The battery is going to be the main function for overtaking while the active aero is relegated to more assisting with changing their downforce during a race

I made some calculations are right now here is the scenario:
How can Norris win the championship?
Norris needs to win both the sprint and the Qatar GP race, max/piastri could end second and the points would not be enough to recover in abu dhabi.

How can Piastri win the championship?
Piastri has to see his teammate end at least in 4th twice while being mandatory to win all 3 races and finish ahead of max. In the end of abu dhabi, he would be a few points above Norris and Max.

How can Max Verstappen reclaim his title and win the #5?
Similar scenario as Piastri, outscore him in all races and finish 1st while hoping norris has at least two 4th place finishes in the last 3 races.

Of course a DNF could mean any of these 3 (except for norris) to see their titles hopes end in Qatar, but this promises to be a great race.

Id say it’s around 50% odds for norris, and 25/25 for max/piastri
