If what I've heard is correct, the issue of crossing the pit entry line is only if you are entering the pits
So you can be in the pit lane entry and cross it to abort your pit stop, but you can't be on track and cross it to enter the pit lane.
Presumably, the relevant examples for both are Hamilton in Hockenheim 2018 and Raikkonen in Mugello 2020 respectively.
