Look at football. Tackles in the first 10 minutes which are generally yellow card worth are not given yellow.

All this penalty does is discourage drivers from going for legitimate gaps. If Lewis hadn't gone the gap (created by Checo's mistake) you'd all be criticising him for not racing.

My issue is the more we see penalties like this the less actual racing we'll get.

Lewis went for a gap which was definitely there caused by Checo's poor driving. I think as a genuine fan you'd want to see him go for it and understand that risks come with that and actually Checo could also have run a bit wider meaning there would have been no contact.

Lewis should have definitely got a ten second penalty yesterday and not a five second penalty because of the fact that he retired Checo, I believe Zhao only got 5 seconds to when he took out two alpines in one corner during the previous race, Zhou should have got 10-20 seconds for that or tbh, maybe even a black flag for taking out not only two alpines and retiring them but also Ricciardo who didn’t retire but lost a bunch of positions 😂.
