Max had a couple of seasons as a torpedo before he settled into it. Russell wasn’t doing it in the Williams when he had 15 cars in front so I don’t think it’s a general issue with him. That Merc is horrible, I thought they might have been able to turn it around but it looks flawed. At Austin last year I really enjoyed Hamiltons qualifying lap, even though it wasn't pole. The car looked so alive, Lewis could search for every bit of performance with it. This year the car reminds me of a Ferrari from the past decade or so, cold and lifeless.

Unfortunately the Lewis winning storyline is an old one. The new storyline is Max dominating for a few seasons. I think people in US got bored of one guy dominating. Try not to think of it as a true sport anymore - it’s like WWE wrestling. They have drama, plots and last corner twists - like last year where the slower car somehow managed to win the race and the whole championship - all while cheating and spending more money than they were supposed to. As I say - come with an open mind as anything can happen in F1 with the new US owners. I’m personally looking forward to the Royal Rumble - Lewis vs Max in a table match 😂
