Some tracks don't have good DRS spots, others have great ones. Like everything it's about balancing when to use. I find that if you use it on the turn into the straight, then you almost get a boost going into it. Pair it with PU boost and you can overtake anything directly in front of you on a good track

I don't completely agree with all above barring legendary drivers which I completely agree.. I saved my bucks and I buy pitpass.. this is the time to spend bucks .. I grind a lot and I only open legendary crates .. I also don't use premium boosts but free boosts accumulated .. I am in S11 and can get upto 5 legendary crates per 2 days from just grinding .. with 50% CR time, I managed to get around 180 epic drivers and components from legendary only and if you focus on junior GPs , you don't need legendaries .... So, yes there is imbalance in terms free Vs pay but I guess it's deliberate

Button is horrible, qualifies top 5 and goes to 20 on lap 1, race starts are key and never picking a driver with bad race starts

Drivers' stats that matches the track stats IS sort of their race pace. E.g., Alonso's race start stat is his race pace stat for race start tracks.

You'll notice a similar thing with the AIs too. Verstappen will usually be upfront in defending tracks, Hamilton in ivertaking tracks etc (unless breakdowns). Norris and piastri is a bit different, they're just good in almost every track because mclaren's car stats are the best.

This year A with legendary driver crates not even having 100% drop rates - you will shoot yourself in the foot if you don’t try to unlock the stupid legendaries earlier too. Goal is to get 90% and 95% will be a bonus. But hanging low and depending on asset trading (which you also need the bucks for AND the coins) will hurt you long game

Bérengére, in the same way as having a 'Perfect' start, or having -say- a max stat point in a certain value of the car (or driver) does not guarantee one will get that exact outcome always, with Qualifying, the game works the same way.

To make a comparison to the real situation picked by both you and Qnyx, despite McLaren with a better car stat (or stats?) than RedBull, has the potential to be the fastest performing car in every single scenario, it does not guarantee that it will always actually be it in any circumstance. That is how the game is designed to reflect that 'not always the same outcome' of being the fastest.

It is not a puzzle -or a logic- game where there is no any doubt in the possible outcome, or answer, or where there is only one possible answer/solution outcome, with no randomness involved. Assets' stat numbers just only give a better and higher possibility of achieving a better result than another one with a lower number. And having a higher stat than the opponent does not guarantee that 100 out of 100 times one will get the same outcome against the other one, the closer the difference in stat points, the more likely that that will not happen. The bigger the gap the more likely the difference in outcome will happen.

In the case you're describing, the Q stat point difference is not that much. Just 6 and 0 pts. That translated to the game, is what just happened.
