Not sure if this works for everyone but for me on the Google Play store on Android I was able to clear the cache on these 3 Google services in device settings. Force close Google Play store. Open Play store, click your account in the top right. Click manage apps & devices and the update was ready here. Not sure if it will help anyone but it worked for me lol

I personally only use it very rarely when something interesting comes in shop, or when trying to get that last card for upgrade before a GP. I advise to save it in these early stages, you'll find one day something you really need and thats when you use it. But thats just me.
