When I try to create a Java class, I can't type the class name or even any character in the name of any new file. What's the reason? I tried solving the problem with Gemini, but it didn't give me a solution. Is this due to the Pop OS system, or is the problem with IntelliJ IDEA?

Yeah this is probably an issue with IntelliJ and your Wayland compositor

Does PopOS allow switching to X11 temporarily to check this?

IntelliJ natively supports Wayland in the 2026 versions but you can turn off that support using -Dawt.toolkit.name=XToolkit and it will use XWayland
