run the JAR from cmd with java -jar spigot-1.20.4.jar in the same directory

tame comet
#

you need to change directory to the folder with the jarfile

fleet pelican
#

in the same directory

vagrant vine
#

I'm not an expert with pc's

#

Sorry btw

tame comet
#

easiest way is to open cmd in the folder, click the bar with the folder name on top, and then type cmd then press enter

fleet pelican
#

My guess is the issues being environment variables - probably the wrong - sign

vagrant vine
#

Like this?

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

java -jar "C:\...\spigot-1.20.4.jar"

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

add a space after the -jar

#

but I already see the issue

#

it's environment variables

vagrant vine
#

What can I do?

fleet pelican
#

You have a program called Edit system environment variables or something like that

#

or Edit environment variables for this account

vagrant vine
#

Yes

fleet pelican
#

open it

vagrant vine
#

Okay

fleet pelican
#

Is there something called _JAVA_OPTIONS in there?

vagrant vine
#

wait

#

No

#

It's in spanish, but no

fleet pelican
# vagrant vine

Does one of the options say anything about environment variables?

#

you should get to something like that

#

I think it's this button

vagrant vine
#

yes

#

It is

fleet pelican
#

Is there something called _JAVA_OPTIONS?

vagrant vine
#

The _JAVA_OPTIONS is because I saw it in a video that probably fix my problem

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

edit it

#

it starts with an _

#

but it should start with a -

vagrant vine
#

alright

#

changed

fleet pelican
#

or just remove the environment variable

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

you need to press ok first

vagrant vine
#

I did it

fleet pelican
#

and then open it again by double-clicking

#

or restart cmd and open it from cmd

vagrant vine
#

I also did that

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

close it

#

and open it again

#

or try double-clicking the JAR again

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

Did you close cmd and open it again?

#

If so, try again with the java -jar "..."

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
vagrant vine
#

Yes

#

it worked

#

but, when I double click it

#

I doesn't work

fleet pelican
#

yeah you might need to restart your computer to make it work by double-clicking

#

or at least close explorer and open it again

vagrant vine
#

Okay, let me check

#

Nope @fleet pelican

fleet pelican
#

Did you restart your computer?

#

Did you try using cmd to run it with java -jar again?

vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

If restarting doesn't help, maybe try deleting the _JAVA_HOME environment variable

#

Also if you ran cmd as admin, that could be the issue

fleet pelican
#

If you did, check the program "edit environment variables for this account or whatever it is named

#

and remove it from there

vagrant vine
#

I only have Java options with the name of java

ocean crypt
#

change the value, not the key

fleet pelican
vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

and when starting a new cmd window without admin and run java -version, what happens?

vagrant vine
#

How can I put a cmd without admin

fleet pelican
#

in the programs menu, type cmd and open it

#

Don't click run as admin

vagrant vine
#

This

fleet pelican
#

right click the JAR

#

in the open with thing, what's there?

vagrant vine
#

ah

fleet pelican
#

idk what open with is in spanish

vagrant vine
vagrant vine
fleet pelican
vagrant vine
fleet pelican
#

ok yeah

#

you see the address bar above?

#

in explorer?

vagrant vine
#

The adress bar?

vagrant vine
#

Ah ok

#

Tell me

fleet pelican
vagrant vine
#

what over there

#

@fleet pelican

fleet pelican
#

yes

#

enter cmd there

#

and in the cmd window opening there, enter java -jar spigot-1.20.4.jar
