I am getting this errror when i am trying to host a minecraft server

Error: LinkageError occurred while loading main class net.minecraft.bundler.Main java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/minecraft/bundler/Main has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 61.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 55.0

I am on linux and i've tried updating my Java but i can't figure it out

update your version of java, you're using java 8 when you should be using smth like java 17
