I'm reading about a spring web app which has interfaces declared extending spring repository with @query method annotation. Those sql queries are being run although the repository interfaces have no implementations. What sorcery is this ? Could you point me to the mechanism that provides the functionality ?

Thanks, but it still don't understand how you can call repository.findByLastname("Matthews"); yet never providing an implementation. Interfaces can't be instantiated...
