That is how the game works, i.e. updates to the game.
There's one solution, if you want to apply it. You have to uninstall the game, and then reinstall from the store again.
Before you uninstall the game, make sure that you bind your character to social media, so you can retrieve it. I'd suggest to bind it to more than one, just in case.
