I could understand the big CP transfers block during some ranked events, because they could change the events results. But to my point of view, smaller accounts does not have much impact on that faction event where activity is far less important than for EL, or TC events.
Most of them are shielded and waiting for the event to end. It is harder than usual to keep them motivated

I think, to be fair, it's a full stop on transfers. Plus, the number of active players always plays a role in how cross-warzone events will pan out, to a point. Yes, you will need some big players, too, but smaller players help in different ways.

Your question falsely assume UD is running because it's popular : community surveys showed that over 95% of people answering prefer EL to UD. The developers never asked what the players wanted, and announced UD through customer support.
UD is running because it forces long-term activity (but not h24) while causing extra competition both between servers and INSIDE servers themselves (as the leader has to select the base receivers)
All of this drives various consuptions, and as Rivergames is (legally at least) the sole IRL seller of such goods, that runs their business no matter if players like the event or not.
I did zero fights on practice, as I value my free time more than RG did. A lot of players (even some R4) warn that the new schedule will lead to them giving up on the event before it ends. Nobody wants to play in the middle of the workweek for 4 months. Other players, regardless of schedule, didn't read our info and didn't understand it was a practice event... I have no idea what % of our server will run out of items during dominators. (And I'm the logistics officer whose plan managed to bring us to Ranked Tier 4... that I answer with "I don't know" about the whole foundation of our event strategy is not a good news)
The ONE good thing about practice is that it allowed us to fulfill our transfer cycles, as devs were nice enough to warn about the transfer lock a month in advance. I have to commend them for that change, no matter my opinion on the event itself.

Oh, I agree with and fully understand everything you stated. The purpose of my question was to see if there was anything that anyone could point to as a positive about the event. Something that I haven’t experienced or realized that brought something - anything- of value to this horrible, awful, terrible event. Something that would keep me motivated to still play during the ridiculous FOUR MONTHS of this travesty, at a ridiculous time and day of the week.
