If you only spend money on decorations as they come out, and then upgrade them using decor shards you will boost you basic stats a lot. If you want a single useful base skin other than super miner then get one with an all unit dmg increase on the main stats. Or march size. One of the two.

All the stats are important but march size, dmg inc and dec, def, are the ones to look out for to buy mainly, hp and att ones usually come free and it all soon adds up.

Orange equipment is good to have but you can technically get it all free apart from pulse jammer.

Where to get the decor shards tho? The one they sell in value pack doesn't really seem to offer great value which is kinda ironic to the name of the pack itself 😂

Just upgrading one decor from lvl to to lvl 3 cost 600-800 decor shards
