I do only first two rounds, as it's for gold shards, and skill shards (in second round).

It's best to open by 10, till you close to 100 000. About being at 80 000 is when you should still try with x10, but 90 000, I would certainly go one by one.

Well, you said you have it. Testing it's strength is relatively easy. Use a friend, who's a bit stronger, attack him/her with regular chip, then with new chip. See the score. It's even better if it's not army you use for attacking, so only chip's mechanics is tested.
