The server was 3436. They went out of their way to ensure that none of the other servers bar one could even play the game. It reached a point where most of the players except ours returned to their home servers with more than 10 days to go. Their server leader tried to get his players in order but they refused to follow him. He was helpless.

You are welcome to join us. I don't know if we will win since EVERYTHING depends on the matchmaking (and we are by no means a Whale server) but we are a fantastic lot. We consistently punch above our weight and do well even against strong servers purely on the strength of our participation.

Not to mention the players are so co-operative and go out of their way to help one another. I wouldn't transfer even to the strongest server so long as our alliance remains the way it is.

1805 had two major alliances. You conveniently leave out the fact that a political deal had to be made with an outside server—a 'girl server'—just to ensure your secondary alliance secured a spot in the top 3. That’s not 'zero competition'; that’s server politics ensuring a specific outcome. As for actual fighting, I remember being one of only 20 in 3310 actively pushing back against the entire field. My 45CP MM secondary was a thorn in your side, and I clearly recall your alliance calling on 1st alliance for help to deal with us. 'Zero competition' is a nice myth

Please. Yes, a deal was probably cut (i wasnt in leadership, so not aware one way or the other) because 1805 had so many players. That caused its own set of problems that I won't get into here. But it doesn't change the fact that 1805, as a whole, had no competition. It was not even close to a fair match up on a server basis, regardless of any shenanigans that were done to give 1805's two main alliances predetermined rankings.

It was not the worst outcome i can envision (i have been on the delivering end of worse, where we locked a server behind gate 1 and never let them out due to trust issues). But, it was also one of the most boring EL i have experienced.

Tldr; Matchmaking and leadership styles have a significant outcome on game play enjoyability. TW can do little about leadership, people being what they are. But matchmaking.... That's all on TW to get it right. And preventing gaming of matchmaking by shutting down transfers once matchups are announced is simply the right move. Period.

I'd be interested to know the specific Servers that are referenced here? In the last 7v1, I was on the "one". Yes...the Devs aligned it so that we would take Server First and that can be frustrating for so many of the opponents. I am proud that our Server Leadership did not lock the other Servers out.

The reason EL Matchups like this are created (or at least, as articulated for the last one) are to "give a break to players that are exhausted" - in this case, from Masters. In the last EL, from the slogfest of UD/ED.

Now...maybe if the Devs go back to the Root Cause of "why" players are fatigued..."why" they are quitting, you might see that it is, in fact, because of Masters and UD/ED.

EL Matchups like this are a bad approach to solving a problem that was created artificially by the Devs. Just pull out the bad events that cause the problem and the Community will be happier.

One server in our match up has no one over 43M CP and the other 6 servers are nothing but whales. We have 2 players that are smaller whales then the rest are under 50M. How do even stand a chance??

Me being an overthinker (!!🤣🤣), i can come up with only 3 scenarios to explain the behaviour:

1. Incompetence on the part of TW
2. RANDOM matchmaking. Luck of the draw is what it is.
3. Deliberate "rigging"
   Now, as.much as i am a critic, i cannot give a lot of stock to incompetence. Building a game like this is not trivial. So, option #1? I give it 5%.
   Option 2...distinct possibility. You can never make everyone happy, so, suck it.up, make it random, and be done with it. I give it 45%.
   Option 3: Rig to accomplish specific objectives, like reduce EL desirability, or cater to big players. 50%

Ancient, I'd genuinely be interested in seeing that change happen. But to get the millions of 'dummies' on board, you can't just preach to them—you have to hit TW where it hurts. The only effective protest is a 'No-Spend' Campaign. If the top-spending 10% (the whales) publicly commit to a 7-day or 30-day spending freeze, the developers will notice immediately. A full login strike is impossible, but hitting their monthly revenue is the only language they speak

Lol, so someone floated a theory a while back that tw is deliberately messing up matchmaking so that players say get rid of EL. One motivation supporting that is EL in all probability has to be hosted on different hardware/vm infrastructure because of the number of active players. Which means, it costs probably $40-$50 per group of 8 to host EL. If that argument holds water, I would say it's a pretty piss.poor way of handling things. Would be really nice if TW weighed in on its.matchmaking algorithm and why it is so lopsided....Might help to quash us trying to infer reasons and in the process making TW look cheap, greedy and/or incompetent..

There IS another effective protest. One that doesn't involve a ban on spending cos that is happening. We can simply refuse to participate in any event that has such a terrible match-up. Many things in Top War that have great QoL improvements are behind pay wall. Auto hunt is just one of them. And not even the most useful one, from the perspective of f2p.

Real f2p doesn't have enough VIT to sustainably use auto hunt to the best results. VIT comes from many things, but mainly for using things where you already spent money.

It's just like anything else in Top War: Those who spend, they have many advantages over those that don't spend.

Is it fair, is it nice? It is what it is.

BTW, I have guide writing account on 4110, and there I am f2p, so I know how it is to be f2p. And I do miss many other things more than auto hunt. Thus, let's be realistic about Top War and QoL: If you're f2p, you miss many things. If you pay, paying for auto hunt is very small price. What we get is worth much more than 15€ (or whatever is your currency).

Anyone who pays, and doesn't purchase auto hunt for other reasons during EL is ... well, not the smartest person. Those that are f2p, they have many other issues during EL anyway, auto hunt is the least of an issue for them. So, let us enjoy the joy of being able to auto hunt. 😄

I am a player who would purchase additional march queue, the monthly one, anyway during EL. It's very useful for EL, auto hunt or no auto hunt.

I don't need it in regular daily activities, but I do need it during EL. So, I purchase it only during EL.

And having the bonus of auto hunt, well, I'm very happy with as a player.

And I also have experience of f2p players, as already mentioned. The biggest issues for them in TA/EL is:

• Lack of march queues
• Lack of VIT.

Auto hunt has much lower effect on them.

This is my opinion as a player.

As a mod, it's not something I need to comment, or react. No need for any mod action.

I just reacted as a player, as I am very happy, and it makes my EL much easier and more pleasant as a player. That's it. Now you can continue claiming that I should be ashamed as I enjoy something "for free", as I would buy monthly march queue anyway.

We have also terrible matchmakihg vs 2287 simply 7v1. But i gave up complaining. The EL is not that important event anymore. There are better events now. Guys, I have played TopWar for more then 6 years, have played every single EL, but I have to complain about balancing. Only in 1 EL there was a fair balancing which resulted in many great battles, but in all others, like this one, there is one server who rules everything. Results are a shame. Few or less fights than ever before. 8 shall compete, but 7 cannot even bring water to the eighth. Why is it like that? Because balancing is made by CP. And everyone knows CP doesn't tell anything about strength. It's impossible to compete against a server which is made of plenty of players far stronger than everyone else.
Please TW: check your balancing system and make a change of it for next EL. As it has been till today it's a mess and kills fun for everyone, including the big server. Your kind of balancing makes EL more boring than all other events like Titan and so on.

There have been 4 EL matchmaking systems to date:

• In the early days, from the first EL (2020) to May 2021 and some matches on new servers: simple - ranked in order (e.g., 500, 501, 502, 504,...)
• Next, from June 2021 to March 2023, ranked randomly within a range (e.g. 1-500, 500-1000, 1000-1500, 1500-2000,...)
• EL April 2023 (except for 770, they were ranked last because there were no servers of the same level as them) and January 2024: ranked by power (with a high power difference, higher than SVS)
• From February 2024 to the present: conditional random (selecting the winner first)
  • Based on the number of participants (e.g. 800 servers), select the strongest servers (put 100 servers into 100 groups), then randomly divide the remaining 700 servers into those 100 groups.
  • Vivid servers are match with each other, not with top war servers (global)

It's incredibly hard to match servers for EL: the difference in power is, especially when you look at the top servers, too big. Throwing 8 top servers into one EL would just as much of a nightmare as it would leave many high spenders too frustrated.

While it would be possible for smaller server to have nice matches, it's almost impossible nowadays to make it worthwhile for everyone. While EL is one of the best events out there, there need to be changes to it so that matches can be more interesting for more players.

Why should they be frustrated? They wanna have historical battles not watching as all others are hiding while they have to destroy endless power stations. They even can't sit in arche because no one wanna be there as long as overpowered players are in all arches.
The whole system is not working.
Maybe it's time to talk to the players or watch them during other events or check battle reports from different events.

Why not check the server vs. server events to see how many players are actively participating on the servers?
Take the battle reports and look at how many units are on the march, how much ATK and so on each player has. You can calculate this into a value and add up the values of the individual players per server.
Then take the semi-active players, do the same thing, add everything up again and multiply it by 0.5. The total value of the active and semi-active players then gives the combat strength of the individual server. Incidentally, this can be done very precisely with a script.

Then you put all the servers in a pot, mix them thoroughly, and take those that have the same or similar server combat strength for, for example EL.
This would make it fair and create incentives.
The money would roll in.

At the same time, you can also take a look at the EL rewards. They are old and outdated. Blueprints for remoulding would be really nice.

The 851 vs 4 mid-big servers match is much more memorable because of the great battle it was ( and memes) , rather than any potential complaints about matchmaking (which didn't happen, since they were only complaining about getting a 7v1). In my best 2 ELs, my server didn't come in first or get all the tokens. They were against 520 Prime, and then the best EL I ever had, where there were 8 mid-top servers.

Bad matchup is only part of it. The worst is that you are not allowed to battle unless you fight the whale server and they control the map and the rankings. So servers that should get rewards get nothing because they manipulate the rankings.

I don't know, I'm not a whale by any means, I certainly look at rewards in different manner than whales do (for me, rewards are meaningful, as I can't afford to buy everything, and I don't have everything through money, so I save and miser to afford some things I need the most).

For them, it might also be thing of prestige, something to brag about. I don't know, I don't look at it in the same way. So, for top servers it probably wouldn't be about rewards, but about being n1, the first, etc.

Anyway, we all see things differently, for different reasons.

They didn’t care and didn’t want folks to worry about battling, I was literally told that because it’s December less battles and some dark corner of TW player base was consulted to say that people just want to focus on individual rewards in EL, vs. long battles.

Nothing to do with prestige and they did not feel that way at all, they just thought, after the last concerns were blasted into their faces and they had to have emergency meetings - that all anyone wanted was a mediocre base added to the store 😂

Nonsensical, have stated before that the new dev team insists on tanking the game because they are too lazy to try and do anything with this event, because while many players want it, they don’t like it because of their slightly reduced event-associated revenue

Until they release actual polling of some sort to understand what the players want, or flat out fire top 3 game design focused decision makers, they won’t change anything soon

They goofed because they are abhorrently lazy and terrified of making any changes because of blowback

I can agree with the problem of EL having too long battles. At least for me.

I can fight (and enjoy) 1h in weekends. In TC, it's easy and cheap, in SvS, I have to repair for about a week my units, unless by some miracle we are matched against some weak server (but we usually get stronger servers). But fighting in EL?

I remember when I just came to 1568, that was only time I experienced long EL fight, and it was original EL, where you could use regular moves, speed ups, etc, not this very slowed and limited version of EL that is designed to prevent really long fights. In short, it was a bit traumatic. Too much time, literally hours were sunk in that. I don't have time for that anymore. Really, I don't.

And I am happy with not much fighting like that going on, especially not 6-8h (or longer) fights. The worst is, it's not costly in in-game resources, but in my real life time. I can't afford it, and I don't want to afford it.

But, I answer it before anything else from my own perspective. And you answered directly to me, so just to say how I feel about EL fights. 😄

EL and player time is certainly a problem, but they could change EL instead of manipulating the match-making. An easy way would be to remove the outer ring with the start zones, and let 4 servers start from the second zone. Adjust buildings, SRA, Trucks, and the diagonal divider. Make fighting only possible during certain time frames. In between, shields go up. They do it with the buildings already.
These changes would be VERY EASY. It is mostly adjusting coordinates in the code. And putting some proper rewards into the shop is also not complicated.

Fighting on the Star City battle map or the Void City is WAY worse than EL. There were so many people with double or even triple my march cp, which is at 60m.
That was 1+ hour of pointless fighting

EL is at the same time for all qualified servers. It is very unusual for them to have several EL groups. I think that only happened once so far.

EL1 usually combines TA2 of two groups mixing both top4 and bottom 4 from TA2 into two new groups for EL

After NW, you will have EL, but not right away

You have first a few weeks new world Up to level 100, then probably another 1-2 weeks, and then EL comes. For EL there are 8 servers again, and not necessarily your neighboring servers.
