there are ways around it, i think it's only if you compile GPL code into your binary, or you modify GPL code and compile that into your binary then you need to publish your code. Some projects will keep GPL code in seperate libarays so they can keep their own code private. Lots of companies do it this way so they can use opensource GPL librarys but keep their own stuff private

GPL is a complicated license that tries stop all imaginable holes to avoid other coders to take advantage without use it. Linking is one of the big headaches that make gpl code not very usable in closed source environments

allright so I guess this has been said before, but I also tried to load my ketsui (WickerWaka) savestates in the other core.
and sure enough, those load up fine.
I have no sound though. (even before loading savestates I mean)

that being said, there are other bugs (the clouds on the right when starting level1, blinking on the highscore in espgal and the 1st explosion in stage 1 before you can start actually playing)
but also some bugs don't appear like the levels transitions in ketsui and the background disapprearing after the start of ketsui's 3rd level midboss

if anyone wants to try some savestates made with WickerWaka's WIP core, there you go.

I've noticed some things in the Weird core that make me think it's a rather poor implementation, though I could be completely wrong since I don't own an original board. Aside from some slowdowns—which aren't massive but are definitely noticeable—I've also detected some input lag that is quite unusual for an FPGA core. In Demon Front, when I press the button to add a credit, I could smoke a whole cigarette between the button press and it actually showing up on screen

Once more, I can be wrong
