I'm not sure what I did exactly, I had to do a lot of trial and error, I've also noticed I can't really load up one game when I have another game running like I do with other cores, I pretty much have to reboot to the main MISTer menu and then start the 3D0 core again

I tried abouit a dozen or so different games now and they all played and ran well, albeit some of them with varying sound and graphical hiccups

I tried out a CHD I made myself of Tripp'd which is a Mode 2 game that should have issues due to lack of CHD supporting that.

Loaded up fine and was able to play a few levels. Doesn't mean it's flawless, but I was surprised it worked.

I have a RGB CRT (a rather substantial Panasonic DT-2730MS I trash picked at one point), but I mainly play on a TCL 4K TV connected to a RetroTINK 4K in my living room.

It has more comfortable seating, and I don’t have to fight with configurations on cores with odd resolutions. (That doesn’t mean I don’t have a MiSTer hooked up to my RGB CRT, though… 😜)

The unmodified version of this game will not load properly on the core, and what little research I did on the matter shows the game does this if it's played on a non-japanese console missing the kanji stuff. There is a modified version floating around that does work, but as it stands the core itself cannot properly load and play the retail released version.

Getting the bios screen is probably a good sign, make sure you have the mister main changed and you rebooted afterward. and try a different game, someone last night couldn't get the image they were trying to work and were just repeating that failure. think they ended up trying a chd

I got the same thing too, tip: do not download the bios file into the folder and rename it boot.rom. If you have done that, delete it. Download the right bios by using update all and make sure biosdb is turned on in the update all settings. That worked for me.

Using the m30 you should be able to map the extra buttons to the 6 button layout. So you also map pause and L R to the top row XYZ buttons. That's how the official 6 button pad worked.

I also loved Space Hulk and played it alot on the 3DO when it came out. I think it was ahead of its time in atmosphere and sound design. I remember really liking the voice acting and the influence of Aliens on the sound design and hud, elements which were sadly removed from the ps1 port.

Unlike with a lot of adapters in this category, the common chipsets in HDMI to VGA converters you find online are generally low lag & high-quality when it comes to conversion, also being highly compliant when it comes to non-standard video signals.

Generally, anything which converts to a 480i signal like this will introduce both lag and visual artifacts. It’s not ideal for MiSTer, and you’re better off just using single RAM with the Analog I/O board and something like this with an old VCR:

I don’t believe SNAC is supported yet but even if it was, you can only use original controllers designed for that system through SNAC.

Just a reminder that dual ram is used at the beginning of a core’s development and once it’s gone through optimization single ram becomes the primary release candidate.

If you don’t want to purchase dual ram then just wait until the core is further along. No need to purchase it.

Saving worked for me, then again I haven’t tried it since I powered it on. But when I switched games and went back, my saves were still there.

Mentioned this in passing to Robby in the Saturn channel, and figured I outta share it here those using the 3DO core. Once save games are supported, you'll want to keep Return Fire Maps O Death in the same folder as Return Fire, and Shock Wave Operation Jumpgate in the same folder as Shock Wave. Both titles are expansion packs that won't run if they don't see a game save from the base game when it checks internal memory

While I'm Rambling, not sure if when it's all said and done the Game Guru disc will run on the core, but if it does, it would also need to be placed in and ran from the folder of the game of the save file you wish to edit

Having a problem: I'm using a USB stick for 3DO games and bios (made sure to format it properly,) however, when trying to load a game, the games list comes up empty. However, when I try to load BIOS, all my games appear there. Doesn't seem right. Yes, I do have a dual-ram MiSTer.

I recapped the PSU on mine that fixed audio issues and disc loading. I had done quite a few simple recaps and it was doable but I found it tough. The caps were in quite tight together and were hard to get out, that solder didn't want to give. But, with perseverance it is doable without being a pro.

Something about the issue is more dynamic than just Fixel being a bad person. I wish he would correct his wrongs, but at this point he is too deep. He was a massive asset to the 3do community, as he knew the 3do hardware down to the cycles and we had a pretty important 3do project that was dropped over all this ode shit. I just wish I could go back in time and convince him to not get into the ode shit.

The best thing to come out of the ODE bullshit was the fact that he agreed to make open source stuff so other people can make them. Now we have ode's that are super affordable.

Wolf3D is one of the games that runs too fast if the system isn't set to 480i. The MiSTer seems to be doing 240p and it's running at normal speed. Sorcery or happy accident? Who is to say?

Memory offsets so far have only fixed seal of the pharoh for me, other games with similar glitches have had no effect, or made things worse.

I'm always impressed with srg320's first released builds. based in the testing sheet, out of all the games tested most are playable

and I don't think 3DO testing vids will have legs so it will probably be these two then wait until there is a fundamental core update. Honestly FPGA videos have been doing less views in 2026 than 2025
