I think Bambu's are great starter printers. I also think that it's part of nerd-adjacent culture to discover how something works and then assume that you are the first person alive to discover that, and are the sole expert on it
Oh i'm just meme'ing. Bambu is pretty incredible, especially for people who just want to print something
I started with a dual hotend Flashforge Creator, way overboard, wish I had a Bambu back then
Oh totally. I'm empathizing with you. I wouldn't have gotten into 3d printing without bambu's "set it and forget it" printers
I wish there was a good way to educate people about some aspects of 3d printing you only learn from having a completely crap machine
I guess if the part they get out of the machine is what they want, those details don't matter.
Yeah, now that i am more interested in it, I wish I knew more
like I have no idea what the settings really do aside from like...infill% and wall loops
Some of these people
Meanwhile here’s me yesterday with my AMS2 torn apart because this fucking transparent pla I have that snaps all the time snapped in 3 places in my AMS
DUDE
I literally JUST did the same thing
and it was wedged in there good
had to get tweezer to get it loose
transparent PLA for me as well, so I couldnt' tell it was in there at first
My transparent pla is now in the trash can
Is that "HTPLA+" by chance?
or similar?
oh, who knows then lol - you may try looking for a datasheet, but if it's made using Natureworks 3d870 (a type of PLA, typically used in "HTPLA" and cut with other things), snapping like this is pretty common
Basically the filament does fine coming off the roll, but if any of it is held in a form that's against its memory, it will go snap city after a few days of sitting
It now lives here
When I use it and leave it sitting four or five days, I will come back to it broken in several places down my PTFE lol
I wouldn't say trash it, just can't leave that roll in the unit, would be one you have to unload every print.
which is troublesome
So yours was the same? Lol
yuuuup
Yep. Trash
and I normally like sunlu filament. I have a bunch of their pla + 2.0
the transparent stuff?
yeah, i wonder if it needs to be dried or something. Transparent PLA feels like a forbidden filament anyway
Going off that print temp, I would wager that's 3d870 based filament. Normal PLA prints much lower temp.
Before you go trashing rolls, 3d870 is REALLY good compared to normal PLA. It isn't quite as rigid, has more temp resistance, and is stronger. You just can't leave it sitting in a PTFE tube for more than a couple days, it will snap. Just a quality of that resin 🙂
As a bambu user, let me correct you
Yeah, I'm gonna try drying it out before I use it again
3d870 used to be my goto filament, anymore I am on that ASA train though. I still use the 3d870 I have to test print and refine designs, then print them in more exotic filament
Last time I left a roll of it sitting in my vcore (which has like a 1m long filament feed path), it snapped in 6 or 7 places.
I bought a Fanttik powered precision screwdriver literally the day before and I tell you it was a life saver taking that thing apart heh
Those screwdriver kits are pretty nice for the price
I got the E2 Ultra for like $55 on Amazon. It’s fantastic
H2C engineering plate showed up finally
i have all fanttik shit. I know in my heart that it's cheap garbage but it works really well
Cheap garbage, or just reasonably priced for what it is?
People have kinda gone insane with what they'll spend on things for a marginal quality boost.
I think it's "I paid less than 100 dollars for this torque limited electric screwdriver with a full complement of bits - I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop"
I bought a bench power supply the other day and was sweating all the details. To get what I truly wanted, I would get up into the couple/few hundred dollar range. Talked to a couple electrical engineer buds about it who said "Dude just get the $60 unit, if it works you saved a ton of money, if it doesn't toss it and get a different $60 unit, at your usage level you'll save either way"
I'm going to try to apply that logic more lol
that's an unsustainable behaviour
Hey I got one of those. Gotta get the glue for it (was out of stock and still is when I ordered it)
I have the liquid glue from Bambu. This says stick on it so idk
I'd like to try the cool tak pro or whatever it is, be nice to print smooth prints on the bed and not use glue
it's good. I have been using it
lemme know 😉 Reddit said it might work without glue on PLA, I tried and it did not
Excellent, it's in my cart for next order, glue (for the engineering plate) says it'll be back in stock soon so I'll order it then
my luck it'll go out of stock right when the glue comes back in stock
I'm waiting for more .4 induction hot ends
I had an alert set on those. Lucky to have gotten 2
Mine came with a bunch of .4 ends, had to wait for the .2 (which i finally got)
Man what a difference .2 are, both in quality but also time, holy crap it's not just double when going down to .2, it increases time by a lot.
that's what a third dimension does
thinking about getting a snapmaker u1, but even my p1s's footprint is already pushing it :|
Definitely would not fit on the kallax anymore...
Someone needs to get the V-Core 4 500 and be large format bros with me
only so much one can do being an apartment dweller
I had a panic after I built it in the house, found out the doors may not be wide enough to get it out to the garage
thankfully had about half an inch clearance in the front door lol
Honestly if I could redo it, I would probably buy several smaller machines
more you can do in parallel
Having multiple machines is life changing
Having a 20 hour print going and going oh! I need brackets real quick!
My next one will have to be 500x500x500 or something, I want to print some keyboard cases and retro computer parts.
Why did you print the first figure with little meshes in front of it???? The second figure looks much better!!!! Great job!!!!
They are the same figure! The first pic had the minion covered in a nutrients cacoon and the second is after they ate the cocoon.
Thank you for educating me and I will try to refrain from posting ignorant comments on things I do not fully understand!!!!!
I'll miss you
the snapmaker want intensifies, the apartment just won't grow in size :|
Why you don't respool filament (if you do, respool it twice and pray)
Hairbrush will fix ya right up
Jeeze
managed to print these with multiple filaments, turned out pretty nice
yup, look good
Turned out to be easy to do on my bambu printer without an AMS, just add a single line to the gcode to pause the print between the fillaments. single swap of fillament.
New sim racing setup coming together in the basement. Let me tell you how much printable stuff there is I can bolt on 🤣
Already some in that pic lol
I remember you saying how into GT you were.
But I didn’t realize you were a goddamned sicko. Bless you.
I only see one cup holder
Your hand is the other
I have almost convincrd myself that the current snapmaker reduced prices might be nicer than buying later and that the actual footprint of the feet area might fit afterall...
had to disable the AI shit on the h2c because it was constantly telling me the nozzle was clogged (it was not)
I never once had it do that
I have had it pause a print for spaghetti detection when all it was was a piece of filament from the last print it knocked off the nozzle onto the plate lol
Been running PPA-CF in the H2C
i wonder if there is a string of filament below the camera and that's what is freaking it out
My buddy buys return pallets and flips the stuff on marketplace. He just texted me he found a sealed H2S laser combo. Offering it to me for $1400. $2099 msrp
lol
I’m so tempted
But I realistically won’t use the laser
And the non laser is 1499
If it were a fiber laser I would be in. I need to engrave metal things
I kind of want to get the pen shit for the h2c. The writing thing? But yeah, I have no desire for the laser
Yeah I want the vinyl cutter
So I can throw my wife’s cricut out lol
Yeah lasers make a mess and I have no desire to clean it constantly
I need to engrave gun parts but that 10w diode laser is no good for any of that
isn't the big one 40?
Yeah still not good for metal. But the S only has a 10w laser due to the single nozzle head
oh right right
Same, I have a 40w epilog (tubes done but we got 10 years out of it) and the soot out makes in the chamber, I'd never want that inside a printer enclosure

it just seems like a nightmare cleanup job for...like little return?
Yeah and the manual for the H2C says to remove the hotends from the rack due to debris so...no thanks
Do you need to do that for the cricut thing?
I don't believe so, no soot with one of those afaik
those kits aren't out yet, right? the ones to retrofit non-cricut models
the cutting modules?
just doesnt have the birds eye camera... hopefully support comes soon
Does that do the pen shit too? Why did I think it could also draw?
This ppa-cf is incredible
is that a decoration?
No. I’m probably not allowed to say here 😂
I cannot imagine what you would be printing that would be inappropriate for this chat
🇺🇸
Oh, a freedom dispenser - got it

You wouldn’t download a car
this filament is crazy awesome looking and is hard as fuck to get the supports off lol
because its so strong
does it sound like metal, or is that just PPS-CF?
I haven't tried PPA-CF yet
Nah not like pps
PPS-CF had me a bit nervous pushing that 345C extrusion temp
needed it for hotend adjacent parts though
Giving PET-GF a try
One the one hand I could print things right now, on the other I could print them in (relatively) unwasteful multicolor once my U1 arrives mid March 😐
Just need to wire it all up!
That looks great
Are you making bootleg Astro city cabinets???!?
Powered by Pi!
Ok forget what I said, that’s a beautiful device
wow, incredible
Which screen did you go with dolch? the 9.7 ipad screen?
@hearty storm found the files on cults, pretty neat design.
Maybe down the road, this is just the cheap one from the BOM
how's the weight?
Nearly 2 spools+ parts, so at least it won't move around on the counter when you're playing if you have rubber feet
I'm iterating with a guy that is redesigning it for the iPad 9.7 inch screens
Still haven't finished mine. When that is complete I'll share the modified file
UHHHHHH
Nice lightgun, it Mister compatible?
It's like the BFG 9000, one shot destroys everything on screen
neat, what material?
nylon?
i might want to try and reprint doing this will be tough though even with the 5 spools hooked up to it
PET-GF
you upgrade to hardened steel nozzles?
I was just working on this today 😀
we use nylon GF in a bunch of gun parts we make at work for a couple customers, pretty popular fill for rigidity and dimensional stability
Tungsten carbide actually. H2/p2 comes with hardened steel stock
Black is ppa-cf and fde is pet-cf
Suppressor printing now for it is pa6-cf
Ppa-cf is all printed at 320c. Pet-gf at 300 and pa6-cf at 280. All heated chamber. My office is warm af lol
Really like how the pet-gf stuff came out
It def shows layer time deltas more than the black. I had to give in and say it’s good enough lol
Saw this in the 3d2a Reddit earlier lol
tru
it's great at tensile strength
anyone know where to get flat metal bars ( that are in mm) that ship to US
I need something in like the 2mm flat range and like 200mm length range widge is up in the air but I guess 20mm would work
I need them for inserts in a 3d printing project that I have to split in half because its too big for the average bed
might be best to order from sendcutsend?
Hot rolled should be fine for a PC case right? 2pc on each bottom top and both side panels
I’d love to have something like this for Mario Kart Arcade lol
Still trying to figure out the wheel mapping in Teknoparrot. But works. lol
oh shit is that in mame?
Teknoparrot
almost done printing out all the parts for my MiSTer countertop cabinet
MARS won't fit inside?
Har har
Got it working with the wheel. Now to figure out force feedback
That looks very nice. I love the speaker setup at the top. Are the knobs on the side up there for detail or do you instead to use them as buttons?
The knob on the right hand side is volume control
This is so freaking cool holy shit
This looks awesome. That rotating screen is killer.
@crude prism is this something you’ll eventually sell? Without the hardware of course.
Maybe.
Very nice design
Thanks!
I like the volume control knob design. Good job on the tate with magnets design, solid.
as you can tell i havent' looked at this thread in awhile
thanks!
So looking for advice, a clip was broken on my old car when I got it, and sourcing a replacement looks to be fairly expensive. I thought maybe it would be a good 3D printed item but it's fairly complex.
How would one go about attacking this design? Would you start with a solid block and then use negative cylinders and blocks until you got the desired shape? Or would you start from a drawing and extrude that?
Never mind, got it figured 😉
A perfect fit!
The artist formerly known as clip
His best song was wiper fluid rain
The wiper blade mounts on the same vehicle are 3d printed as well since they are unobtainable
So they merged the fullspectrum fork?
exciiiiting
I'd consider the feature on bambus more of a sign of poverty stinginess or pure laziness
