Upcoming MD+ hack
I really wish these patches would come out dual MD+ and MSU-MD, it's going to be like pulling teeth to get MD+ implemented on MiSTer because of political issues at this rate..
This got me curious about how Streets of Rage sounds. I don't know if I like the MD+ hack. Some things are missing, like in the round clear screen.

Playing MD+ games with Retroarch: https://www.zeldix.net/t2175-md-emulators-genesis-plus-gx-mame
Video was running a little long so a third of each level was trimmed out, and I couldn't be bothered to continue at the end. You get the idea, anyway.

Still, it would be pretty neat to have the option one day.
og soundtrack was definitely better imho..
md+ hack could be done "quite easily" using MegaCD as the pcm decoding is already written but as always it would need someone with the right skillset and desire..rare combo
How is the 32x core now days? Can you save on Knuckles Chaotix yet?
Streets of Rage 2 has an MSU-MD version btw
Hmm, it has always been there, meaning it is present (referring to Round Clear). Perhaps the enhanced one taken from SoRR sounds too Genesis-like to your ears?
edit all the tracks were taken from SoRR, btw.
unless, I am misinterpreting your statement?
I think you might have. What I am saying is that it sounds like the first few notes in the Round Clear screen in the MD+/SoRR version are either missing or are too faint.
I'm not sure what you mean by it possibly sounding too 'Genesis-like' to me because I am in fact comparing it to the original, or at least how the original game sounds in the second video.
Can’t admit to hearing, or rather not hearing, missing notes in the SoRR arrangement. The only major difference between the two is that the original stage theme keeps playing until the stage clear theme triggers. The MD+ version cuts off the stage theme so there’s a gap between it and the round clear theme. There probably should have been a fade applied so the stage theme kept going until round clear triggered, but it’s not a big deal, really.
New build for 32x dropped with load/save support!
#unstable-nightlies message
Anyone tried this yet? Looking forward to finally being able to save my lap times and the unlocked mirror mode in Virtua Racing Deluxe (JP)
USA version unfortunately was stripped of save feature which is insane with the game based solely on improving lap/race times. If anyone plays that, make sure its the JP original!
I thought mega drive and mega CD already supported saving
IIRC they support SRAM but not EEPROM, so EEPROM games need patches
ah okay. havent played many games on the genesis that required saving
That is awesome, I can finally save Knuckles Chaotix!
Snatcher🔫
Ide on how to hook up my JUSTIFIER to the Sega CD core. Can’t find a 2 player Sega SNAC adapter? Is it possible to plug a USB controller as player 1 and SNAC (Justifer) as player 2. This is the set up on original hardware. Somebody with experience?

seems doom 32x resurrection's issues on the core were resolved some months back. gonna load that up and verify today
Where did the music go? One was a banger. Can someone link again?
This is it

It would be fun to see a rom hacker polish it up and make it the proper Robot Streets of Rage it's supposed to be. Finish the UI, simplify the controls, that sort of thing.
You can play Devil Crash MD with Thunder Force II music by putting in the passwords "OMAKEBGM00" through "OMAKEBGM04". Cool little inclusion
Figured it probably doesn't work, but worth asking I guess.. does the massive Sega Channel demo rom work on the MiSTer core? Seems its like 80mb in size:

asking because the new Game Sack video brought back a lot of memories.. it was one of my only experiences with the Genesis in the 90's:

Besides that I rented a genesis from blockbuster for a weekend, with Sonic.. and didn't really think it was all that good. Also tried Sonic CD at a buddies place for a bit, which was a bit more intriguing because of the CD audio and effects in the game, but still really didn't do much for me.
My neighbor had a Sega Channel and I was always so jealous
It was really neat! my friend on the east coast had it and that was my first "online" console experience of any kind. tried comix zone, sonic spinball and some x-men games for sure, but dont remember any others we played on there
Mega Man: The Wily Wars got relgated to the Sega Channel instead of a physical release in the US
No I would have to delete other things to fit that on my SD card currently..
it loads direct to flicky
Might as well put this here:
Soo I happened to find this beta for a Genesis-core with a Smart Adaptive Blend, more streamlined CPU Turbo ("Blast Processing") and FM Overclocking :
Has a more developed adaptive blending )Smart Blend) (though still in alpha):
-
In Sonic 1, the Smart Blending via "Enabled"-setting (instead of "Composite", or "Transparent"), has both the transparency effects for Shield-pickup and the waterfalls render properly together while keeping the sharp pixels. Dithering's looking pretty seamless too in Ecco The Dolphin
-
However, in Sonic 2 the blending seems to bit hit or miss - the palm trees blend correctly but the waterfall and bushes on Emerald Hill Zone doesn't seem to work. And in Sonic Spinball the dithering pattern for the toxic slime is pretty glitched.
Also FM Overdrive stuff but maybe someone else is more expert in that area
That's my feelings about the current blend in general. What it does to text makes it pretty much unusable in any game that requires even minor reading
Apparently a new stable build of the SEGA 32X core just dropped.
Pretty much - was looking if the dev for this core was around but he seems to have vanished?
Adaptive blend would probably be more consistent if it prioritized one sprite layer so the algorithm has less things to guess at a time.
Thing is the amount of dithering used depends on the context, as some games benefit more from the background layer blending more than the foreground layer, or vice-versa.
I don't know how the adaptive blending exactly works, so I could be wrong about something.
Or alternatively we can embrace the dithering
Sooooo… web of shadows … what a game ..
Why you do this to yourself taco
Knux seemed a bit glitchy on the title demo before too
I'll have to check that out, because I remember that it only happens once on the first boot.
Maybe a glitch with RAM?
That rubber band mechanic is so weird
I found a work around for the glitch. All you need to do is set the ROM Storage setting to "DDR3".
So yeah, it does sound like it's related to the RAM.
Got obscenely far .. like no regular human could stomach re starting those levels .. multiple times ..
Jam still doesn’t save .. bummer
Currently playing Tempo and Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000
Think that got fixed with the latest release
A mate just sent me this pick from window of CEX in Dalston (East London)
Madness... absolute madness...
Although I saw an unboxed SNES in the CEX window here yesterday for £120, so prices are just getting more insane for things that aren't even rare
Sell your MiSTer and buy it
TBH it's the one game I've been really wanting to play on the 32x core because I refused to buy it when the game was going for like £40, which wasn't even that long ago
Sounds like it's still not working properly though
Maybe it never worked properly
Or give me half the value, I’ll kick you square in the crotch and you’ll still have more fun
The rubber band physics are weird
What are chances for this core to get save states?
Moderate to slim. SRG320 is the one working on it and he's tackling other projects like Saturn and Battletoads arcade.
I see~
Save states are for the weak.
Just suffer as these old games intended!

or just pause the game and don't turn off your MiSTer like in the good ole days
We still don't have cheats for this one, wonder what the hold up is there as that seems to be quite straight forward for other cores to have had added
Yeah, the core doesn't support the cheats yet but they are all sitting in a MiSTer pack ready to be picked up by the downloader script when they are supported
Huh, I remember using cheats myself on this core though, am I missing something?
On 32x?
Aaahh -then nvm
I wonder if it is a space issue at this point in development, anyone know how much space it takes adding in cheats to a core?
doing some 32X capture. fun stuff
@neat locust with the 🫂 reaction lmaaao
lol took me a second to even realize what they reaction was
Thank to MiSTer I went from thinking the 32X was a waste of time to enjoying some pretty cool games on it.
I always forget how much Chaotix ISNT good
The Japanese version of Virtua Racing Deluxe saves trophies and records.
Win all races to unlock Mirror Mode.
I mean if I had paid full price for it back in the 90s I’d probably be pissed but looking at it now with minimal cost to me it’s really cool
Yeah, it’s an awesome port, same with Virtua Fighter. Shame it didn’t do better, we could’ve gotten more awesome games from Sega
Sorry, there isn’t enough space in the frame buffer for double resolution.
is cosmic carnage running poorly cause its the game or the core? been years
It’s the game
There’s a Virtua Hamster prototype that might be interesting to show off
I never played it lol
I am doing OG Doom this time around
last time I did the mod
I will explain in the vid why I chose Doom proper; if there is a something noticeable in a game is it the core or the mod? thats always the question
but I will say "I know X exists" so I dont get a sea of comments saying "you know Resurrection exists right"?
Show Ressurection briefly too.
@earnest coyote is the man to ask about Pico
Sorry, life has been insanely busy 😬
I made some good progress over winter and then I've been in housing hell ever since
@fallow dome @neat locust what do we think?
thats what I was feeling too
but the VF thumbnail made me laugh
Sorry to hear that, hope your housing situation picks up, that's never fun
It's not so bad as it is time consuming
Use the Virtua Fighter one
That's the one game that doesn't work properly
What's broken on Chaotix?
There was some discussion here yesterday about it, haven't tried myself as holding out for it working properly
#1096614378968727652 message
Ah, that's too bad
VF image have sound.
So has anyone spotted gameplay changes from the latest update
Nothing is wrong with Knuckles' Chaotix.
Start screen messes up in the beginning but can be easily fixed with a soft reset
My favorite is the VF one but honestly the Knuckles one will get you more views
No one knows what Tempo is but most people know Sonic and angry polygonal man while hilarious, doesn't seem like it would entice more than Sonic
Probably educate a bunch of people too, I don't think Knuckles Chaotix is that well known?
Star Wars Arcade locked up once during one of the demo scenes, after some loops. The one that shows a ship leaving a bigger ship.
Virtua Fighter Demo ends before the music.
Yes Chaotix will draw the most eyes and I do enjoy the colors the most
Did you know you can change the camera in Vf during a fight ? There’s three different camera angles ..
I’ve seen it before. Interestingly Battle Tryst on the Konami / 3DO M2 has the same feature and I don’t know of other games that do?
No clue , besides VF and the game you mentioned
Nobody knows battle tryst. Dumb rare arcade exclusive game and I know of maybe 5 boards left in existence
Have you done a video on it ?

Hello and Welcome to 2021! I am writing this in 2020 and I hope this year is shaping up better than last....ugh!
So at the start of the channel I covered the five Konami made games running on the 3DO M2 hardware...but I didn't do a very good job of it! Now it's a bit over two year...
Yep. I have the board in my collection
At first glance it looks kinda like tobal
I’ll have to check out during work out time tomorrow
Did you make sure the ROM Storage setting is set to DDR3?
I found that using the internal RAM causes issues with 32X games.
Damn Kolibri is some next-level kusoge
was hoping for better when I saw screenshots of the game, but its just a damn mess to play
they really wanted to go for some kind of ecco the dolphin type of vibe, but the way you really dont have control over what weapon you're using and the game seemingly trying to get you to use certain ones for parts.. just makes more frustrating than anything else. looks nice though
I remember playing that game before release at the Sega pavilion in Epcot, Walt Disney World
Had no idea what the hell to do. The Disney/Sega employee there also had no idea what to do lol.
It was set to auto, Ill set to DDR3 when I try it again, thanks.
It’s too damn obtuse. Never know wtf to do in that game
In Star Wars for 32x, after starting a mission, pause and press Up, Right, Left, A, Down, C
some fun renditions of the music there, though the keyboard doesnt render correctly in the most recent core
the cantina band song is track 3- great rendition on the genesis hardware 🙂
Just poking my head in, saying hi.
howdy fella
New 32X unstable build
#unstable-nightlies message
What’s the new build do ?
Plays 32X games
Your Mom plays 32X games
It brings over the recent changes from the Saturn core to the chips that both Saturn and 32X have
Somebody throw Chaotix at it, see if the into is fixed
maybe it's just me, but I would much prefer Sega CD updates over 32x updates
A lot of the 32X updates come for free from the work on the Saturn core because they share several chips.
Maybe once srg has licked Saturn he will bring what he has learnt to the Megadrive core
cough MD+ cough
Yeah looking forward to it
anyway Sega CD 32X will probably require a separate core, and Sega CD issues would be addressed there as well
What’s the MegaDrive core even missing?

What’s MD+
Oh some more weird non-standard stuff
I want a good Genesis, anything else use an emulator
Zeldix loves it, MiSTer devs hate it because it was created by Terraonion. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth in the dev channel over a feature request and nothing came of it. So due to useless politics we cannot have a good format in the core.
glad they stuck to their guns, respectable
why doesn’t Zeldix use the other format then
Because MD+ is better
saaaaaaaays who
It has more features than MSU-MD, which is more closely tied to Sega CD's abilities. Ironically, MD+ is a lot closer to MSU-1 than MSU-MD is in terms of what it can do.
MSU-MD should really only be used with X series Everdrives and a burned CD on real Sega CD hardware. It’s useless in any other situation as the Mega SD supports MD+, the Mega Everdrive Pro supports it, and so does Genesis Plus GX in Retroarch for emulation needs. MiSTer is the only holdout, so to speak.
Yeah we can’t go on without the multiplayer mode in sonic 2 looking aight
No nes stereo sound either , even though it’s totally possible
How many Mega Drive games even used the high resolution interlaced mode?
All I know is sonic 2 multiplayer
Im just playing dawgg!
Don’t get all depressi on mehhh
Somebody pin my tail back on
I wish there was more interest in making Mega CD hacks of Megadrive games.
Yay.. combat cars ….
Be 90s edgy
That, the Neo Geo hot dog ad, etc
MD+ is like the bottom of the wishlist for me, considering all the issues with Sega CD.
Yeah there should be an option where the emulated disc drive is prone to failure and you need to repair the MiSTer every time.
Do all 32x games work today ?:)
I think they have for a little bit.
Well that’s a bummer do we know if they will ever be working
Someone at SEGA was a complete psychopath for coming up with this to begin with.
How could they even work when the mega cd is missing?!
Wait so Sega CD doesn’t work?
Oh OK Had me scared there for a moment that Sega cd games didn’t work
I have gone up and down the sega cd library and all the important ones work ..
What’s your favorite?
@fallow dome butts in Why these are my favorites
Thanks, amigo! Those are good recommendations.
I do the curating thing
Streets of Rage 2 Sega CD?
MSU-MD folder
Yeah I do curation as well. Always curious to see what else people like to play.
MSU-MD selection is rather thin compared to MD+, but we have a few good ones
Shinning Force CD
The shinnin'
Game for big brain people
Its the shinnin' bart
there was at least one game where I saw an issue with the music stopping. but other than that the game seems to work.
in any case, I look forward to the day when there are no such issues
Hail Sarlac!
Blackthorne?
Probably rambling here, but can't help my reoccurring obsessive-compulsiveness:
I've been wishing to see possible hacks go the actual Sega CD BIOS, as to allow swapping music or even backgrounds between regions over using region-free bios
Found even someone having done that:
Like I've used the region-free EU BIOS file but the way the whole boot jingle plays tinge too fast in NTSC-mode due bios clearly being still optimized for PAL-regions... yeah, it does ruin immersion a bit.
One nitpick I have with the SEGA CD core is just the lack of any fast loading options, like what the PS1 and TurboGrafx-CD cores have.
Would it work well?
On holiday and kinda looking forward to getting home to seeing if there's a performance lift to Doom Resurrection
Yes
Stage 1 demo almost complete but want to implement some extra options. 2 kind of playing area, fullscreen (NTSC cuts off 8 pixel top and bottom) or pc-engine style with the HUD bar and vertical scrolling. Maybe there'll…
First Darius, now R-Type. Woot
Wait, there is troubling talk of PAL in this thread
Not worth it for 50hz
Though the arcade runs at 55 so
I dunno
So I've observed
Weirdly never ported officially to Famicom/NES, though there are some hacks of that Magic Dragon bootleg
Not at all no
sideeyes Amiga CV1
The results showed
Eurojank wouldnt be Eurojank without that special creation recipe
And here I thought you'd be linking a Kim justice zx spectrum apologist video
Pretty cool hack came out today
YMMV
Oh, Ill have to delete it then
Id rather not break the server rules if I can help it
Anyway, time to fire it up
This game is really cool but
It's doing something rather odd once you get into the actual game, the picture gets much softer, and its not possible to get back into the OSD
Im wondering if this soft picture is a programmed in effect, or if it is doing something funky like going into Genesis 480i mode
It's crashing the core in actual gameplay too here and there, shame
Its only a beta, we'll see how it goes
What did I miss
We need a "The core is dead, Jim." logo
What core is dead
A logo?
Or like a meme lol
Sounds like a photoshop job
Megadrive
Excellent
I really like the MegaDrive/Genesis core
Why didn't y'all tell me about the typo
Alright y'all better do the same react emoji
It was better that way
yass
Actually apparently Im the only one with the actual issue
But the test group is me and one other person so
You know I didn't even see what the issue was lol
So this new homebrew, Mega Man Sequel Wars
When the video mode changes on my MiSTer it fucks up the output and the core
It only happens after you get to the stage select
I was kind of wondering if it was the 480i mode
But @wide iris was saying they had no issues at all
Maybe its video settings in MiSTer ini?
Yeah no issues at all here. I didn’t know there was even a 480 I mode. I just use normal settings more or less. My output for the core is 256x224
What display do you use? Can you upoad your miSTer.ini so I can try to troubleshoot?
Thanks. Ill see if I can try and sus this out
☝🏻😮 find it broski! So you can play the greatness and solve the mystery!
Ive had a problem with the Saturn core once, usb controllers stopped, menu couldnt be opened even with button on Mister. Game still running (Sonic 3D Blast).
didn't happened more than once though.
Did ye find the problem ?
Working on it
Mine is set on wider hv interger
kitteh
OK
Wider HV Integer seems to suppress the resolution changes
@wide iris I think this fixed it. Do you have time to try narrow H/V integer with vscale mode set to 4 to see if the issue replicates on your end?
Ya. I didn’t know there was a 4. I just type 4 in the ini file right?
I just do that by doing a normal update all ?
You need to go to github and copypasta the contents in to your ini file
Or just replace it
You have a link for that ? I didn’t know ini needed it’s own update
Sec
Okay lemme check this out
I wonder what specifically about my setup is doing this
At least setting it to wide works fine
Oh that’s good at least. Who are you playing as first
I haven’t played through with him yet. Did roll yesterday and proto man today, he was def the hard mode of the game.
Is he like 9 and 10, higher damage
Only for difficulty or style points then, seems like Roll plays like Powered up/Mega Man Maker
If only they made powered up 2. And mega man maker was officially released ? I thought it got canned
Its been out for a long time, its a fan project
Are you talking about the old one that got canned in the early 10s
That must be it then. Mega man universe.
Yeah that one
Mega Man Maker is an all 8 bit style one
Something else for X and Zero series fans for seethe over, along with MM8BDM
I’ll have to check it out sometime. I could only make levels. I can’t make sheet
Whenever attention is given by Capcom, its always to classic
Must suck to be a spinoff series fan
Yeah. No new x game since 8. Mega man legends 3 canned. At least the original series got 11. I wish the game boy collection they had planned for gba didn’t get canned. I hope that gets dumped sometime soon 😈 it’s in someone’s garage probably 😭
I bet the DX hacks that are being done will be better than that anyway
MMV is excellent
That’s true. V was awesome and someone else did 1 which turned out good too. That just leaves three more games
V is almost enough by itself for me
It has all the special bosses from the first 4 games
For me it’s up there along with mega man 2 and 3 for neese
Oh and 7. Can’t forget 7 and 8 too
I love it. I dunno why some people doo doo fart on it. It looks nice, got nice music, love the wily stage 2 theme. I liked how the special weapons could also be used as tools. The lack of transformations like how you could do in 6 and 7 was a bum part but I could live with it. I do prefer collecting bolts as a currency like in 7 and the game boy game as opposed to how 8 made you get special bolts but I didn’t mind that much since not all the upgrades were worth me getting anyways, I barely used them so I never worried too much about going out of my way to collect every single bolt. I know it’s look comes from mega man and bass along with two bosses right ? But I don’t mind because for me this is a better designed game that puts it all to good use whereas mega man and bass I couldn’t even finish because I thought it was such a pain to even progress.
You beat the whole game ? And you didn’t die a million times ?
I died some, I just learned the patterns like any older more difficult game
The game seems designed much more for Forte than Rockman, but it is what it is
Yeah I had tried playing with mega man first and I think I got past 3 or 4 bosses, dying a ton along the way and I think the stage I called it quits was the one where those spinning soda can guys show up with eyes, those classic mm enemies but there’s a giant one who can ignite the area with fire instantly killing you
Ya. So id get thrashed trying to learn the level layout and strategies, die a ton, make it to the boss with like 0 lives or 1. Try to learn their pattern as much as possible before dying 😂 I was miserable. Maybe I could give it another shot these days. I dunno though
It has some interesting boss mechanics, compared to other classic games. Burner Man cant just be hit with Ice Wall, you have to bring it out at the correct time, pushit towards him and shove him onto the spikes
That’s cool when games do stuff like that. Makes it more engaging as opposed to spamming fire button.
Who’s your favorite mega man boss by looks and by design?
From 1-8 and you can pick one from each game
For the first game my pick is elec man, he just looks cool
Fire man being a close contender but I have to go with elec man
no 9/10? Ima do it anyway
1: Elec Man
2: Quick Man
3: Gemini Man
4: Pharoah Man
5: Star Man
6: Knight Man
7: Slash Man
8: Tengu Man
9: Tornado Man
10: Solar Man
Oh yeah we can include those too. I dunno why I didn’t think of that. I like those games too.
1.elec man
2. Air man
3. Needle man- he looks cool and okay to fight. I will say spark man has my favorite music of the robots there.
- Toad man with skull man and pharaoh man being close contenders because they look cool and I love their themes.
- Napalm man, with star man being close too. I dunno why but napalm man has a cool aesthetic going on, maybe it reminds me abit of launch octopus. I do enjoy Star mans stage more than napalms though.
- Centaur man
- Nightshade man
- Frost man
- Hornet man
- sheep man
Yeah. Wood man probably looks the most funny to me. Or top man. Yellow devil I like as best fortress boss. I enjoy everyone of his fights
I kinda like Dark Moon from V, and uhh.. brainfart the hell was the one from Super Adventure Rockman called
That was one of my favorites from the gameboy. I never played super adventure rockman what system was that on ?
PSX and Saturn
First release of Saturn actually had a bugged disc 1
Kinda fun playing SAR new in 1998, I dunno about now.. maybe Ill fire it up on the PSX core
I had no idea about this game. Animated but also a first person shooter. Could you connect a gun con to this ?
I dont believe so
Inafune hates SAR, it got suppressed
The big art books that came out only have the cover art image and no character or enemy designs, nothing. Just that image with a note that they dont like it and they are sorry
Wow that’s crazy. Mega man revisionists lol
Just like Castlevania
Iga and his official timeline
I think its perfectly fine
Worth a playthrough or two to find all the little routes and differences
pusheen is a chonker
What’s wrong with the sega genesis core?
Apparently nothing, and its just me
Only thing missing is eeprom save support AFAIK
I just tried playing the mega man fan game doodle and it's pretty fun. No glitches for me either
Well, wider H/V integer fixed it for me, so no more complaints. Im going to assume its a one off issue and not something to go on github about

is that from garbage pail kids?

Altered Beast 2 MD being created with Scorpion Engine. Placeholders now follow the same proportions and autocam / colliders test.
I'm confused, what is it?
Unofficial sequel to Altered Beast being created for the Mega Drive.
Ahh, it looks a lot like the original
I love every effort to bring new tools and support to old hardware. Scorpion Engine, GB Studio, that Saturn/PSX engine that TiagoSC is working on, it's all very cool.
I hope folks never stop bringing new software to old hardware.
Honestly surprised Alien Soldier didn't support the six button controller, since the controls using the three buttons are a bit convoluted.
huge quality of life improvement there.
Wonder how it will change speedrunning
probably wont be used unless folks decide to make a new category for it
I saw that, the gameplay looks like a mess. Might get it to play with my kids
Seems like it? But that's not what I'm referring to, they show a lot of different types of gameplay that seem out of place with each other
Sonic games are notoriously not great with a few rare exceptions
Honestly I feel like the Sonic formula barely works as it is and anything that tries to change it tends to make it worse
At it's core it's kind of conflicting. You go fast but constantly hit obstacles that wreck you, and can explore, but slowly, so it's like there are two styles at constant odds. If you're good at memorizing you can make it through the parts that catch you, but I am not so it's like..... Go fast, stop, go fast, stop
And I don't feel like they've ever reconciled that. They've only tried to add mechanics and change it in unsatisfying ways
I despise lock on targeting for example yet they stick that shit in everything
Sonic 2 and S&K were the height IMO. Sonic 3 tried to stick too many gimmicks in every 5 minutes, presumably to make gameplay feel varied, but it just made it feel disjointed and shoehorned IMO. I honestly don't know what the magic equation is to "fix" Sonic
I’ve learned my lesson long ago to assume all Sonic games are trash until proven otherwise. Expecting anything else by this point is silly.
Yup

Fool me once
All I really thought looking at the trailer was "This might be fun, multiplayer is neat. Why do some gameplay scenes seem so slow though?"
ok I was being mean but c'mon I'm not that off-base lol

What
lol was it?
So a friend and i usually play some megadrive micro machines when we see each other, today we tried 'Micro Machines: Military' but the sound was really messed up? i did a search and saw some issues reported on it in 2022. Is this still a bug in the md/genni core?
althoug the workaroud metioned still seems to do the trick 😄
(So yeah, now i do know how to find reported issues) 🙈😂
Wandered along to my parents house today to find my Mother had gone on a cleaning frenzy and unearthed a stack of old Megadrive gaming mags I forgot I had she wanted me to bin or takeaway. Snapped some pics of the covers to see if any haven't been scanned and preserved yet, some fund stuff in there
I actually do have the first few issues of Sonic The Comic! I need to dig them out, I think the first one may be worth some serious money now
Oh wow, I would have loved that Desert Strike book when I was a kid, never knew that existed
I definitely have some Sonic novela in a cupboard
Possibly the most obscure thing in that stack I suspect may not be well known about is the Clarks shoe shop Megadrive magazine, I must have got that for free when getting my school shoes at the Clarks in Corstorphine back in the early 90s
In this episode of PC-88 Paradise I play the original version of Hideo Kojima's "Snatcher". Long before Death Stranding, before Metal Gear Solid, Kojima made this unique adventure game in 1988. How is it different from the English language Sega CD version that came out in 1994.
I want to give a special thanks to Bowl of Lentils for lending his ...
hey I forgot to ask about the core, I’m trying to remember some technical thing it’s missing, anyone know?
Which core? Thread covers 3
the part where it makes Genesis games good
You'll take your GEMS composed fart symphonies and like it
You rolled into the poor kids neighborhood on your BMX and shit talked Sega
What did you think was going to happen?
Some kind of save games
like you have to get an SRAM patch for them or something
I like that @manic ridge just sees through the troll and provides a helpful answer lol
I try
Meanwhile @west sable and I are bitter enemies

Playing Genesis with a SNES controller and it’s like everything is right in the world
You're almost there.
Now play Wily Wars with an NES controller.
I’ll just play the superior nes originals tho
Well. Yeah.
Are they still superior even with the newer hack?
If I don’t know but still say “yes” will you judge me?
joke's on you I already judged you
The Wily Wars hack make things better. They don't really fix various other aesthetic issues though
Minakuchi engineering didnt exactly knock it out of the park with the spritework and music
dang
Hmm looks sonicesque
Ah yes the team that made one of the only good sonic games
Makes sense
My only complaint was the boss battles in that were too easy, and the one special stage was confusing
Good news though the new one looks like it has 37 types of confusing special stages

Pfft
He's reaching, but it's cute
I guess snes is the budget option if you're shooting for an a500
Huh, was this a uk thing? Wasn't aware
I wouldn't say that lol. But interesting nonetheless
can confirm, shaq-fu snes didn't even come with the cd
My longplay.
Played on Sega Genesis.
I come with bad news... Astebros in MiSTer doesnt show PSG souund!
Was it made with that newer Genesis development software? I think this might be a known issue
Sgdk or something
I remember someone made a proof of concept homebrew that ported the first Sonic game to the SNES. I don't know if it ever went beyond just the first act of Green Hill Zone.
The previous Asteborg game has sound issues on MiSTer too
The MiST core works well with sound in these games
I beat Demon's of Asteborg and Astebros on the Mister. I didn't recognize any sound problems
psg is out
should i hear this already in the intro of the game?
i need to compare just from the way i remember the music i cant hear a difference without a direct comparison
i did not miss anything during my playthroughs but i never played the games on another device
I just checked on YT. Is there maybe more than one ROM Version of the Game floating around? because in this Video thats played on the Mister i also dont hear anything wrong.

This new 2021 Genesis/Mega Drive game just released a couple days ago, as the result of a successful Kickstarter back in 2019. It's a platforming hack and slash adventure that has elements reminiscent of Capcom arcade classics. I feel this one is best played with arcade stick, after trying a couple different controllers with it.

How do people here feel about Sol-Deace? Considering the retrobit re-release but the shot sound is terrible. To me it sounds like the game has crashed and stuck only creating tick sounds :S the music is really nice though….
Well those are awesome
Hi guys, I tried to compress some games into chd format to save some hdd space. I experience some fmv video playback issue, like it doesn't decompress the data with enough speed. Do you have some solution ?
All my chd files are located in an external 2.5" HDD plug into an 2.0 USB hub.
Do you think it will play smoothly using an SSD drive, or by copying the file directly on the SD card ?
Yes
Was testing out the latest unstable SEGA CD build.
I noticed that the music in Lunar The Silver Star doesn't loop properly. It will briefly switch over to a different song for a few seconds, then abruptly loop back to the original song.
I don't know if that was the case with the previous build.
Do Sol Feace for Sega CD - same game with rockin' soundtrack and cut scenes.
If you check in the last official version you have on your MiSTer, that would be useful to see if it was already there before or is a regression
I had to change the main MiSTer file to test this, as the unstable file breaks the official SEGA CD build.
But anyway, I tested this out using the latest stable build by letting the game run for a few minutes. I can confirm that the bug is still there.
Alright I did more testing, and it turns out this is only an issue with the Unworked Designs patched version. The regular release loops like normal.
yep, confirmed.
So is that why is it called “Unworked” then? 🤔
the unworking (designs) patch haha
True, but the music of the cart version IS actually awesome too. Just the sound effect of shooting 😢
Indeed, i'm a big fan of the YM2612. But man that CD soundtrack on Sol Feace... i played sol feace first, in 1992 on my sega cd, and by the time i played sol deace 4 years later on an emulator, i just kept wishing it was sol feace, haha...
but they're both good, agreed

Interesting. I am wondering if this will be ported to Mister, or at least what benefits it could bring to the existing core.
Hopefully not beating a dead horse, but is any improvement on Composite Blending not gonna be explored/improved upon anytime soon?
Probably not. What needs improving?
If you have a GitHub account, you could put in a ticket with that request if you can articulate the issues that should be fixed.
Saw this beta core developed a long while back for Genesis that tried to implement more improved version, but creator of it has gone MIA
#1096614378968727652 message
Ohhh that’s cool!
If you can, post it as an issue on GitHub as a feature request. That’s likely the best way to reach anyone who’s got availability to look at the core.
Some issues regarding the blending look to have been discussed already before it seems - I guess I'll just show the core to Sorgelig in one of the topics to inform a more universal blend has been achieved to some degree in this core before
My MiSTer was running SAM and it hit on a Mega Drive game called Old Towers that I instantly clocked as a recent game despite being unfamiliar with it.
Yeah it’s cool!
Something about the art design makes it exceedingly clear that it was made after the death and rebirth of 2D games. It's quite fun too!
Holy crap this studio has made over a dozen megadrive games
I hope the adaptive blending update goes somewhere.
I have a copy of Coffee Crisis for Genesis. Bought it... geesh... 2015 (maybe 2014) I think? At Portland Retro Expo. Looks like they've come a long way. I love it! 🙂
Ahhhhh I love how clean the SegaCD core sounds.

Awesome!
So with this, are there plans to merge or replace the current core?
What is the differencee with the actual megadrive core on mister?
The analogue pocket would be pretty good for that
I've always wanted a vgm core that replicated various chipsets and could play common chiptune formats.
It's been a while since I looked into it, but I believe the main problem with a "VGM core" is that it would need all of the sound chip permutations to be built into the same core, including the weird ones like arcade boards that had 3 of the same chip or whatever.
Yeah I doubt you'd be able to fit all of them on, which would be a shame, but maybe start with Commodore/NES/Genesis/SNES and work out from there until you run out of room.
I too would love this
So does Quackshot just not work on the SEGA Genesis core? I keep hunting down different ROM files, and all I get is a black screen every time.
Rom used: https://datomatic.no-intro.org/?page=show_record&s=32&n=1764 CRC32: 5DD28DD7 It does not reach the Sega logo. Only a black screen is shown. The other dumps catalogued by No-Intro ...
Okay so that solved the issue, just needed to find the alt ROM.
Apparently City Connection is getting a Mega Drive port with a physical cartridge
Doope!
just saw that! Friggin’ awesome!! Sorg doesn’t mention it, but it would be amazing if this new core had save states in mind from the beginning 🤞
I don't know for save state
What does he say?
He’s working on a new “cycle accurate” Genesis core that will also support Master System
said he hopes to have a test build available soon
I just really hope that Sorg is making this core with save states in mind, but I won’t hold my breath
I guess I could look at the github to get an idea, but does anyone offhand know what the remaining notable issues are with the Genesis core that might be driving Sorg’s reworking of the core? 🤔
The core is based off of this which is done so adding save states would be just as likely with the current genesis core; not likely
ahhhh so in other words it’s basically being done for the sake of accuracy now that those chips have been traced, got it! Still really cool to see
I was thinking it was a ground up rework specifically for MiSTer, but clearly not
Maybe we can get the adaptive blending implemented in this new core too?
That's going to be nice if it is more accurate, hopefully it can cover Master System and SG-1000 as well. The Master System core could do with some polish, so maybe a fresh implementation could eclipse what we have already there
So if Master System gets implemented, what about Game Gear?
Hmm, I assume it could be added in too as I think the only real difference between GG and MS is that GG has a larger colour palette
Is this core available for the Mister ?
I wonder how this core will compare to the current core in terms of resource usage.
I'm curious if it'll be able to do Sega CD and 32X in the future as well or if those will be based on the old cores
Everything is possible. The beauty of FPGA implementations is that you can combine new cores with existing ones if you want it.
Sort of. You need to get approval from the Core Master by filing a core merger submission paper.
it’s really cool to see Sorg on a tear. First Neo Geo and now Genesis.
Yeah, totally. I was wondering if he might look at cleaning up the Master System core next, but he has gone one bigger and taken on new Mega Drive core with MS support
I did also wonder if he might look at refactoring the Amiga core and add in CDTV and CD32 support, maybe that is on his mind for further down the road
I think the core I'd like to see fixed up the most currently is X68K
now I've just gotta find a voice synthesizer that can make a 16bit rendition of his name
The MiSTer made me into a huge SEGA fan
Damn I really missed out, what awesome games and consoles.
As a Genesis user every moment of gameplay and every moment in between I just wished I had a Super Nintendo
Xbox and Dreamcast turned me into a massive Sega fan
Hopefully the FM model filter settings remain.
I would imagine Sorg won't regress features like that
Yeah, wasn't sure if he'd have to reimplement the features from scratch.
you watched any of "pandemonium reviews every U.S. sega saturn game"?

to be pronounced sorrrr guhhhh
exactly
Back when I was playing my Genesis I was sometimes jealous of my SNES friends, but looking back what I really see is that we all pretty much missed out on the best games.
I look back and wonder why I never played Shining Force, which I would have eaten up as a kid. I just didn't have the info or the opportunity back then to get the most out of my Genesis.
if sorg is working on it... I'm happy !
Am wondering what extra features are all in the current Megadrive core that would need brought over for feature parity
The Virtua Racing special chip and SNAC are two off the top of my head
Four player support for Micro machines?
Cheats
Some other mappers?
I know that Mega Man The Wily Wars and Wonder Boy in Monster World don't save and require a hack to work right. I believe that's because of a missing mapper on the core?
Yeah, both games use a type of EEPROM saving that is still missing from the core
I just happened to play a few hours of Monster World III without realising and got killed by it
Would be nice if it got implemented at some point as it’s a bit of a trap
I thought it was just some sports games and that Naughty Dog RPG that needed eeprom saving added, those are pretty big games
Sorg did add in support for the obscure unlicensed gambling games and Chinese hacks into the Neo Geo core, so I reckon if he has set his sights on Mega Drive he will add all these things in eventually
Just remind him of those edge cases mentioned and hopefully he'll include it with the core.
If he is starting from scratch the new core is going to need serious testing across the whole library. I will get a sheet made up this week.
yeah, I believe you can just patch them to SRAM and they'll work
A perfect MD core is needed... MEGADORA deserves it.
Besides the lack of the particular save mapper for a handful of games, what does the current Megadrive/Genesis core lack?
Some slight accuracy, apparently
yeah, around the bus arbiter iirc?
Mappers for a handful of unlicensed Asian carts
Support for a controller that recently got added to the PC-Engine core as well if I remember right
If this core becomes Master System as well then there is a fair amount lacking there
i think it does? from reading sorg talking to the author
So if this also becomes the Master System + SG-1000 + Game Gear core then there's a lot that would need to be added
And a lot that could be added to expand upon SG-1000.
Right now we have two ways to play SG-1000 games (MS core and Coleco core) and both have games that run on one but not the other
Then it could be expanded to support SC-3000 and SF-7000 (basically the PC version of the SG-1000)
still, if we just get some fixes for genesis that'll be nice
SG-1000 and Megadora are not compatible
I have seen problems with SG-1000 in SMS core.
Princess Ninja has problems
Dora the explorers final form
is this just how Japanese people refer to the Mega Drive?

yea, nuked-md doesn't and won't support SG-1000 video modes (at least in official repo), only MD's SMS compatibility mode. but potentially we'll reverse engineer SMS VDP and make separate core (nuked sms?). All our research will be done in this repository: https://github.com/emu-russia/SEGAChips
Thanks for your work @warm falcon , lots of people are exited for this
megadoraibu
That's really interesting, thanks for the info and keep up the great work! As you can hopefully see is really appreciated
sms core needs to check FM sound
Does MS having a different VDP mean that playing MS games in Megadrive is not accurate?
not bad, but the cymbals... the cymbals are strange.
MD is compatible with Mode 4 of SMS
but, it has differences
and... there are games that fail
Bart vs Space Mutants
are there known significant differences between other SMS variants, ie Mark III, SMS 2, etc?
Oh, is SMS VDP already being looked at?
https://github.com/emu-russia/SEGAChips/tree/main/SMS-VDP
is Mark III same hardware as the original SMS we got outside of Japan? Ignoring PAL/NTSC etc.
The Master System and Mark III used identical hardware.
The Master System even technically supports the FM Sound Unit, and there are games that supported the FM sound but weren't released in Japan.
Wonder Boy 3 famously, right?
Yes the Master System version was not originally released in Japan, so the FM sound went unused.
Cool, thanks for confirming, I thought that was probably the case
The Monster World Complete Collection on the PS2 would be the first time Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap would officially support the FM sound in Japan.
I only played the remake on Switch, which was really amazing
I can't believe how modern the design felt for an 8-bit game
Not sure about that. I had a mark III and the tests made with it and with a japanese SMS ... differed.
https://youtu.be/UoLbkZUUv3U this is a pretty comprehensive overview of all the intricacies of the pre-Megadrive consoles. The Mark III and the initial SMS release were identical internally.

My guess is that similar to the model 2 Mega Drive, the Japanese Master System release made several internal changes.
I do know that it had the FM sound and 3D glasses adapter built into it, which does imply they modified the hardware to some extent. Documentation is pretty hazy, so I don't know how significant the changes are.
Coffee Crisis is an awful game. They went into make much better titles.

one of the first games I ever saw
Klax on Mega Drive, that's how gramps got into gaming thru the puzzle games
it's good if y'all have never played it
it is the 90s, and there is time for Klax
The weird part is that there are two versions of Klax on the Mega Drive. One by Tengen and the other by Namco.
Marble Madness also got two ports for some reason.
The Japan one is best yeah
Can use trackball on Genesis core
That’s basically my only definition for it being better lol
Ill fire it up now. Been loving the arcade core
Im utterly terrible at Marble Madness but its a great game

Does the justifier work with snac?
It should, all original controllers do. But obviously lightguns that rely on CRTs only work via CRT.
Does anyone know how to get Sonic CD working?
I hadnt noticed.. nukey’s md core 1.1 release is synchronous… things are looking good
Yes, I can confirm that it does. With that said, I will probably only ever use it for Snatcher from now on.
Ugh at work
Failed on VDP VCOUNTER CORRUPTION WAIT. Ok channeling my inner @random marsh
Ok, time to scrap it and start again. Can't test if it's not all working. Back to the core mines.
More like whine in your case
does it play sonic good though?
Next is to check real hardware
This is normal even on real hardware
Does the core have cd?
i don't think they were talking about the new core
No you can’t dismantle my joke like that.
The core on main fails more tests
Always good to see more accuracy, even if most of it wont be noticable to game playing plebs like me
might be worth seeing if any of the existing genesis core bugs are fixed/different on the new core?

Micro Machine 2 (Europe) sounds great before it is not right
The problem was already solved a month ago, but okay.
awesome ! thats actually a bug i had noticed
this core supports also TMSS genesis version and compatibility with SMS games.
Haven't tried out the core yet. Is there save support yet, and if so is the issues with certain games not saving fixed?
jesus christ. an entire channel dedicated to streets of rage 2 demos.

lol
Ohhhh can you educate us. Why is TMSS Genesis good?
I genuinely don’t know
The weird GG2SMS hacks needing a start button (and supporting the Genesis one) would work at least. But there is probably a lot more to it than that
/ 1990+ models had the TMSS security chip, leave this as a clone, it reduces compatibility and nothing more.
CONS( 1990, genesis_tmss, genesis, 0, genesis_tmss, md, md_cons_slot_state, init_genesis, "Sega", "Genesis (USA, NTSC, with TMSS chip)", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE )

Can someone verify demons of asteborg?
Apparently the core in main is missing PSG sound
@harsh iron please check out new mega drive core
Sorg patreon
AFAICT there’s still something missing - that part is present if you play the same track in the 32x core
You have recording?
Vs real hardware?
I might be able to hook something up to record audio this weekend. Will be able to do vs real HW as well.
Real hardware recording would be the best
So, new megadrive test core. solves the bus arbiter timing issues in a few cores already. thanks again @warm falcon
PSG works on demons of asteborg now so some of the weird quirks of SGDK is probably addressed better with this test core
some of the frequencies on mdfourier sound weird to my ear, gonna run the analysis now and compare in a sec here... new computer so gotta get mdfourier again lol
Is there a plan/possible for the genesis core to have a save state function?
No, you need to develop the core with save state I mind
you can add it later it just makes it significantly harder
the game boy core and nes core weren't designed with it in mind, both had savestates added after the fact
@carmine pine the sound for Micro Machine 2 (Europe) is great now also
before i post graphs going to check with artemio, noise and psg seem to be significantly recessed comparitively by a bit, but nto totally sure. this also can vary by model so need his expert opinion 😉
looks like PSG is significantly different somewhat in terms of frequencies, which is kinda what i hear with the trail end of it, we'll see what artemio says
this kind of thing can happen when there are timing issues
the core was written as a netlist which can make it difficult for an fpga to deal with, gives the compiler a lot less flexibility
this can be optimized later anyways
just wouldn't be easy
transforming some logic that isn't needed to be sequential into combinatorial... combining some logic that is multiplicative or complex into using LUTs instead, etc... this can all make it a lot more efficient. but also defining things behaviorally isntead of structurally can help the compiler do much more optimization
Been away for a while. Can someone update me on what’s going on? New Sega Genesis core that’s apparently more accurate? Correct? Will it play Sega CD, 32X, SMS or SG1000 games? What exact improvements are there with this new core? What regressions? Will this replace the existing Genesis core like how the 7800 replaced the 2600 core?
whether or not it's fully more accurate remains to be seen, but the bus arbiter certainly is more accurate so far
given it's based on decaps it likely is more accurate than fpgagen
nukeykt made the core with the russian team that does a lot of RE'ing decapping etc...
sorgelig began porting it a couple weeks ago and nukeykt adjusted some of the core given his feedback and testing
Cool. Thanks for the feedback. Any ETA on when a build will be ready?
The v1.1 release was supposed to be synchronous, shouldnt that have resolved any timing issues?
long chains of logic that are strictly defined can lead to timing issues regardless
everything being synchronous won't fix that alone potentially
that's why i mentioned LUTs as a potential solution for further optimization
let's say you have an ALU that takes one value and pipes it to another to be calculated, and another, etc... like 10 layers deep. If you can simplify this logic in code and make it so the compiler doesn't have to do 10 chains together of steps it will greatly ease the ability to meet timing requirements
Ah, makes sense
if there are only... 64 numeric outcomes let's say of this particular piece, then you can just use a LUT instead and take the inputs and map them to the table
and that is instantaneous
i think this code being done as a netlist is extremely valuable for preservation purposes
FPGA-based machine vision designs do this LUT optimization a lot to reduce latency and improve timing
How come this is more noticable with sound on this core?
i'm not sure if the reason the sound is noticeable has anythign to do with that
could be some minor bug in the code that went unnoticed, could be the timing, not sure
Kk
ok, yes, only sms, timing, a few peripheral features, maybe eventually
I've got MegaSD, MultiMega & Nomad to hand I think. LMK if there's a pref.
Thank you @warm falcon and Sorgelig !
the sms mode will be accurate to a real genesis from the looks of it so it will actually play them inaccurately in comparison to the sms 😄 just like a genesis, at least on paper that's how it should work
I was not aware that SMS on a real Genesis had faulty BC.
Core Developer: We fixed SMS on Genesis!
MiSTer User: But now some things are broken…
Core Developer: You’re welcome!
Honestly I think that’s pretty cool, I love it when things are so accurate, even down to the faults. Amazing stuff.
power base converter doesn't work with a couple games, f16 falcon is one, and there are some games that wouldn't work at all without using the real sms controller on it, so SNAC through the core with sms probably won't work right for some games
the power base converter also only works with Mode 4 on the VDP, not modes 0, 1, 2, 3
so some weird hacks, the conversion homebrews/hacks/roms, and test roms won't work
and sg-1000 won't work
Interesting
all of the weird sound issues seem resolved by this
like the way too loud and garbled euro games
psycho pinball, total football, etc...
not sure if that's a bus arbiter timing issue, but it was one of the more annoying ones lol
Psycho Pinball you say?
that was a damn good pinball game
ntsc bros take note
this is a legit top 5 pinball game
Yeah it's pretty fun
I did a quick test on music 0 - I think I was wrong and the PSG is now there, but perhaps the level is not the same?
the PSG are the background harmony notes, they don't exist on the mister genesis core
the megadrive test core has less filtering of psg and noise, so it's more audible than og hw
that doesn't have the missing psg notes
this section does
the genesis core on mister currently misses those background harmony notes
current genesis core
you can't hear the harmony notes
my recording of sf2 world map theme for the 16-bit audiophile project
this core by comparison
my oghw is off an unmodified US MD1VA3 to a MOTU M4 interface
Congratulations @warm falcon , first feedback seems to be very positive on your core
What work needs to be done before official release?
Enduro Racer on Megadrive Core
Enduro Racer on SMS Core
There is not so much differences
the sound is better on SMS core maybe because of the FM chip with the japanese version
MEGADORA 16 BITS CART SYSTEM... ASTEBORG WORKS WITH PSG IN THIS MAGNIFICENT CORE.
How do you feel about the channel mixing so far?
I can see some pixel garbage in demons of asteborg
Before title screen
It’s similar to UWOL
yeah samurai shodown had some pixel glitches too
probably related to timing issues in compilation
Alright
THE REAL NAME
Turbografx... ugly name
we got it in Spain with this name too.
ugly USA hucards and a PAL system... PC ENGINE PLEASE... !
Yeah, it never released in Australia, so I just knew it as PC Engine, aka that obscure Japanese system with the SotN prequel
This has audio in the new core
TOYA... MEGADORA IS COMMING !
Genesis does what MegaDon’t
Amazing! That was my ticket.
Does X-Men 2 load without having to hit reset upon load? I remember that was the weird workaround to get that game working
Also the Micro Machines games had weird audio glitches when loading initially and could only be fixed by hitting reset
Micro Machines games have great sound now
MegaDora is what Genesisn't
Genisn’t

I was wondering if someone else has this bug freeze in chaotix if you don't press start to skip the intro ?
Or am I the only one ?
Hi. Need some directions. Anyone can help me how do I add symlinks?: “MiSTer supports symbolic links so you may add symlinks to Genesis and SMS folders inside MegaDrive folder.”
This is what happens with my Mister in th 32X core with that game
I've never seen that message in my life in my mister
Do you also have this error in this game in your Mister @woeful goblet ?
I remember this happens to me. Typically a reset fixes it, but if it doesn't try changing the ROM Storage setting in the "Miscellaneous" section.
Also make sure your build is up to date.
If nothing works, just skip the intro cutscene and it should run like normal.
This message is from Alexey Patreon Post (new mega drive core).
I tried the new Mega Drive core from Patreon, and this issue with missing border graphics in the Titan Overdrive 2 demo is fixed in the new core. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Genesis_MiSTer/issues/109
Connect to MiSTer with winSCP, browse to /media/fat/games/MegaDrive
Right-click | New | link
that's assuming you have your games on microSD, otherwise paths will be different
Any news about porting nuked md to mister fpga?
I must be missing something. I did as above, create the link/shortcut, but the MiSTer can´t "see" the shortcut folder when I try to load/search for a game
hmm that works for me, you're only using the microSD for storage?
I am using a HDD (usb0) for games.
it should work the same as long as you browsed to /media/usb0/games/MegaDrive and pointed the link to /media/usb0/games/Genesis
