#Nintendo 64

I don't think it changes anything pertaining to the core compatability I think it's just a matter of the most recent version being in the database
You can also just add its MD5 it to a user database file
If the workaround gets it booting. (Starting original game then hack)
welcome to mario karta. select your player! select match
Frustrating how inconsistent it is. Others are getting sound on games I want to play. Also, games with sound that cuts out eventually freeze for me.
Can you point it out to me?
probably wrong save type or forgot to format it before playing
not sure if it's a bug or what but i found in a couple games on the recent builds if i open up the menu whilst running on the nso controller mario or donkey kong will keep running in that direction without touching the stick
Yeah the stick does that currently
happens regardless of whether i hit menu on the controller or on a keyboard
No, please don't come back till then.
we'll message you if a game works before that time. 😄
The NGE game on N64 is a pretty loving recreation of the show
#1046941029296779344 message
this game is wild
it's was in the pinned messages there. sorry to derail guys
it was very weird
Robert deletes the whole thing
pretty cool concept
We will be lucky if we had one game running by Christmas, probably time to abandon hope
Certain features will be striped most likely
@hollow rune so I've cleaned up the error codes in the USA sheet then made a copy. Now I'm working on a sheet to sum up there majority of where errors are occuring.
That is super cool!
cool*
NOt great for Robert though. Now we know what to bother him for
Honestly, he might like it. We do the testing, then he knows where 80% of the problems are
Ah yeah to be clear I was playing the 2.96a version.
I was just joking. This really quite a lovely idea
are we at the point where everything has been implemented and bug reports should begin in earnest?
Not everything yet.
Most of the fixes are for the developers favorite games that he tests.
right but usually stuff kind of fixes itself until everything is feature complete, minus TLB of course
He's not the biggest fan of Yoshi. Plus I think he might find grouping the error codes useful
Async and LOD are incomplete
well LOD could certainly be messing stuff up
i think it just picks a texture at random right now
I'd like to hear what causes the craziness in Puzzle Bobble/Tony Hawk
Oh yeah and transparencies
Tony hawk has craziness?
THPS San Francisco level and THPS 3 have wild texture corruption issues
Wetrix was really sluggish before and it's running at the correct speed now. Totally playable and seems just like I remember it now. It's a strange puzzle game but addictive.
Came today. Now my og N64 controller is ready for the SNAC ☺️
8bitdo stick mod?
not if he wants to use snac
Hall stick should work fine in an og controller
nope, you can use the stick mod just fine for SNAC
works fine with original controller PCB
oh yeah didn't think about that
Heck yeah, Robert added the aspect ratio toggle? =)
I played the US version in its entirety, and found almost no bugs. Just the flicker when a level opens(also happens on PC emulators)
Yea that's known
Ok
just watched pixelcherry latest vid and i cant seem to get yoshi story running on latest n64. any ideas for troubleshooting? im on latest unstabl nightly mister
Who can read all of this? It’s too much. The top consumers of internet bandwidth are 1. Netflix 2. YouTube 3. N64 channel on mister discord
i had been a few cores behind but anything awbacon and pixelcherry had been showing on their vids, when i updated to the latest core i could run what they run. somehow something is off right now and i cant launch mario64, yoshi, blastcorpse, even tho i see it in the video as running. im on latest unstable nightly. latest n64 core. dual ram
Latest unstable. Do you have the latest Database file? Does it say auto detection failed when you try to load the ROM? What does it do?
only thing i can think is a ran update all yesterday and maybe that changed something
it does say autodetect failed
If you ran update all, your off the unstable MiSTer again
i manually put unstable back on
Ooooh, it overwrites it huh
i also rolled back to previous unstable just to check
the latest database file
might be that?
i do get the autodetect error like you said which was new to me, i dont believe i noticed that before
If you are on the latest unstable (don't think compatibility for this file is retroactive). Use this "_new" file. Be sure to rename to remove the new to meet the required name of course
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/N64_ROM_Database/blob/main/N64-database_new.txt
was there ever instructions posted for using database file? i cant recall ever doing this manually
The autodect is almost certainly all the issue is. New unstable plus that file worked for me. Also gets saves working on the patched PD too for example
I don't think so, I was asking about this myself this morning
okay because im unfamiliar
Where is the new database file saved to on the MiSTer?
where to put it and what to rename it
I'm not sure you "need" to do it this way though. I've not used update all in a while personally. But as people are manually applying the unstable MiSTer, I guess that falls in the remit of people happy to mess around in WIP state
alright well it was worth a try but putting the N64-database.txt in the roms folder didnt solve the issue of games that should be working, simply not
There's a part in vampier.net that mentions the N64 core and it's database can up updated through the "updater" script, is that different from update-all? Because for some reason I don't have it and I guess that would explain why I never had the database file.
If you're on latest unstable;
#unstable-nightlies message
Then using the "new" database file (which must be renamed to "N64-database.txt");
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/N64_ROM_Database/blob/main/N64-database_new.txt
That's what I manually did today and all is working
Did you check the second pin? I'm sorry, maybe others can give better advice for the current best method to get everything to download with a script. I've only been doing file transfers personally so can speak to that
Oh thankyou! I missed that one it seems.
The method I used seemed to be for something else.
Yoshi's Story and other newer workinng games now work good for me c:
More games completable than those that only boot and look at that playable percentage
Nice work updating the test sheet today everyone 👍
Does the new database text actually need to be called "N64-database_new.txt" or does it need to be renamed to "N64-database.txt"?
I'm surprised so few games are "completable", although I also wonder if that's a silly metric
like how do you complete a football game?
They're just completable in that people took the time to hit credits
There are surely a bunch more out there
which part was it that got it working?
And sports games that have franchise modes and stuff, eh I'm not gonna play more than a single match for testing
The downloader.ini change would have functioned how I originally thought it was going to, it just turns out I totally forgot to edit the file again after my recent fresh re-flash of the SD Card
So no new downloader or anything like I confusingly asssumed, just update-all as usual
Needs to be renamed. Only seems to be useful to use the "new" version if your on latest unstable. Renamed to "N64-database.txt". In the end this will all get sorted
I'm still using the old database file and an _user database file without issues. Do those stop working if I move to the latest unstable?
Sorry, I had started trying to help you by sticking to the idea you'd manually been using the latest unstable. If you don't want that for any particular reason, just use update all after applying the edit noted in the second pin on this channel
No idea I'm afraid. I guess if it's working, no other advantages to latest unstable yet
changing the updater ini and rerunning the updater got me somewhere. blastcorpse and yoshi now load in game where they didnt before. mario 64 is still crashing immediately
cant quite figure out what else ive done wrong
mario has obviously worked many times in previous cores
The only thing I can think of that you didn't mention iss the latest MiSTer nightly
Those have been having some n64-centric updates lately to accompany the test builds.
okay i ran updateall but didnt reload latest mister nightly so i'll try that
well i musta been born dumb cause i cant figure this one out. even tried mario 64 from a different romset just to be sure
just loaded a n64 build from a few releases back and mario crashes there too. something is truly f'd on my setup
Are you using the patched version of mario?
no from nointro romset
It won't run unless you patch out his face from the beginning of the game
i thought we were past needing the noface patch
Nope. That's TLB.
You may be mixing up two things. His face at the beginning of the game has always been a problem. That's the no face patch. Early cores didn't display Mario's face in game correctly, that was fixed and was not what the patch is for
okay i may have been completely misrepresenting then, in which case thats fully my own fault
i could have swore i was running mario without patch
that would explain it then
No problem👍the naming of the no face patch can definitely lead to confusion like this
Never feel bad asking questions or if you don't understand something. We all make mistakes or need help at times. I didn't know anything about this stuff back when I first came here last year, but I learned from asking questions!
💯
easily frustrated by having two seperate issues that seemed related, but werent
I have a question. Why don’t you move to Chicago? Be a cool kid
We can play MiSTer in the greatest state in the Midwest 😂
time to complete yoshi story
And why don't you move to Racine and be an even cooler kid!? Huh? Huh!? ||Nailed it! Yeah I'm so cool!||
Greatest state in the Midwest is like saying the best part of your body to get shot in
Wisconsin is as cool as lava on a hot summer night
man my friend is running in the marathon tomorrow, right past my old apartment, like literally past it. made me homesick.
Ooh Chicago? Fun
One our our friends is running too. I can’t say I get running as a sport but I’m glad people like it
yeah i moved from belmont harbor to los angeles, and honestly i miss boystown
BELMONT
wow.
Damn. Wish I lived in a town named Belmont! 🦇
it's a harbor, not a town. like boats.
Dracula must be in LA if he moved there
I lived on Belmont
Good enough!
BELMONT
Belmont?
Go crawl back in the Alamo
Just tried it myself. Upgraded to the latest unstable main. Switched to the "new" database file, and kept using my old _user database file, and everything is still working. Including my custom entries in the _user file.
Anyone working on more TLB removal patches? Or was that only possible with PD because it has been decompiled?
I want my Mischief Makers patch! Awbacon can go play Paper Mario on NSO.
go eat some chuy's
Bruh I’m in Alabama
why not both?
(Ok for anyone who lives in Alabama that was a joke)
The Alamo? I remember that place.
You could move to Chicago and work for NetherRealm Studios!
And never visit Awbacon.
There's no basement in the alamo ! 😂
my good friend works there and he keeps telling me to apply lol
But then wouldn't you be near Schaumburg?
That seems like enough reason not to...
or evanston and say you live in chicago
all right with the world now guys, appreciate the help
beat mario kart 64 on the core 💪
Well technically I live in Racine county. Not in the city. Even I'm not that crazy.
This server is just midwesterners and germans
it is really not that big
Central time zone is best time zone!
Can we all agree that Mountain is the worst time zone, at least?
my friend is in mountain time and i live in the uk so we never talk
I just meant that used to be the only reason to go to Schaumburg.
I’m going to be in EST soon and leave you CST losers behind
hah
Don't you dare abandon us!
I didn't "live" in Boise. I did time there.
you need to get north of the mason dixon and worry less about time zones
boom, south roasted
lol true
I have an old coworker who unironically calls the Civil War, the war of northern aggression.

That's.....yeah run, Robby
i lived in maryland and that is as close as i care to get
they had grits, so that was ok
@cerulean elk I just learned if you choose beginner mode in densha de go they'll guide you how to pull out of the station and play
Is the translation working?
Haven't tried one
Damn
I'm afraid of hacks and translations being too confusing for me to get running 🤣 so I wait
Makes sense! Right now the focus is only on official games anyways.
Yeah, beginners mode is literally a tutorial and will pause and tell you exactly what to do
So it's a start
keen to try that, it looks fun being a train
Yeah Densha is great. Awesome that more people get to try it out thanks to this core.
Probably best game on the system tbh
probably !
If being a train sounds fun, what if I told you there's a game where you can be a glove?
I mean that does sound cool but no choo choo button
Best button ever in a game is the A Boy and His Blob remake's hug button! 🥹
Or Stray's meow button!
never played that remake. i have so much love and nostalgia for the original even if its a bit of a weird one
It's good! Definitely worth a try if you enjoy the original.
said no one ever
i need to get a new wii one of these days.
wait no, that’s exactly what everyone said about the remake
Would you hug this thing?
I think it was ported to modern consoles.
oo wow
i appreciate being able to feed it beans from a distance but not necessarily touch it
What if he's all slimey?
He is a blob afterall.
i still wouldn't want to touch it !!!
Wait...so if he's slimey...and white...and...oh god.
Think it's related to gleep and gloop from the herculoids?
was playing around with actual hardware N64 yesterday first time in a while since playing around with the mister core.. there's a lot of little inconveniences still in that setup / vs. the conveniences of the mister setup where i'm definitely rooting for robert and the core progress. the mister experience with the WIP core is already so much better
I mentioned this exact bug above (yesterday) - and asked if anyone had seen it on og hardware. Not sure I got any answer though. 🙁
how far would have to get? is that just beating first level ?
I know how to pull out already
🤔
It’s the burbs. Don’t apply
I lived there for about 12 years. Then I escaped.
Man, Superman is way better if you play on easy
For funsies, I just tried a certain speedrun trick on OoT that usually crashes on n64 and it rightly did so just as a real N64 should. I guess the n64 core is already more accurate than Wii VC
It's a whole vibe, to be sure. North end is ok. But....yeah.
Just doing my usual for Oot which is to grab the big Gordon sword right away
Since it makes most fights super easy haha
Best autocorrect ever. Big Gordon....Alf with a claymore!
That's the silly kind of checks I like to see
I'm still recovering from the gripping depression of that place. Family is still there and it's worse every time I go back
Same. We just did the trip back in August (I was capturing N64 footage in a terrible hotel on Vista, funny enough). I really don't fit in that place.
Grinkers was cool, tho 🤣
Speaking of this, I don’t want to imagine how Japanese gamers beat this game. One of the challenges in the last grunty quiz section has you spelling « Banjo-Kazooie » backwards on the sandcastle floor with a very strict timer. I can’t begin to imagine doing this with an alphabet you’re not familiar with. Maybe they changed it in the Japanese version??
holy crap. yoshi's story is bringing me BACK
Back to hell? I can't stand that song they sing.
Lol id find out if the res was fixed
The game has 0 kanji in it so that makes it annoying to read too
@hollow rune I now know where the bulk of errors are
See that text box at the top? 🙂
Try it
This is a sum of all game errors. The idea was to get the error code from each game and tally what was the most prominate errror
The digit padding isn't significant, HEX2DEC in sheets is fairly robust
good
=LET(err, IF(ISBLANK(E2), 0, HEX2DEC(E2)), MAKEARRAY(1, 25, LAMBDA(ri, ci, BITAND(BITRSHIFT(err, ci - 1), 1))))
perfect
Probably needs more work, but it gets the job done
I like the use of the bit functions
didn't know you could do that in google docs or excel or libre office
or whatever
Hey folks, really sorry but I don't have time to read old comments, did I see somebody say Yoshi's Story was working?
Nice. I don't understand that code lol
hey that's my blob
Does that capture the yoshi story drug trip bug?
Bitwise operators are essentialy in every calculation tool
yes
I loved this game on Wii and then replayed it on Vita when it was rereleased. Eventually you unlock a secret video where it’s the lead animator’s son hugging a sleeping bag, and that’s what they used for rotoscope reference.
That's amazing 😆
A nice game. I hope Zak & Wiki eventually gets a remake, that was also super charming
@echos I've been around long enough (close to 39 years of programming) but I didn't know the functions where supported in whatever spreadsheet program you used 🙂 that's all
I haven't looked for those functions either
anyway Error Code bit description added since I had the overview anyway
I started programming in 1984 and didn’t get deep into spreadsheet and database query wizardry until ~2014 (when I worked for LG on webOS as a TPM)
WebOS is your doing?
I call it - cram as much advertisement on screen as your can 😄
I started in 1984 as well
MSX basic
what a fun time that was
I started on Apple BASiC, but never made anything remotely decent until I got my hands on Hypercard later on (1990 or so)
Wife and I are currently trying to claw our way out of web dev hell, oof that's a black hole
interesting. I'm wondering why so many games use undefined RDP commands. Maybe i did some mistake or a lot of games have a bug in the RDP DMA handling
more likely i did something wrong 😅
it doesn't show how many games
good morning !
it just shows a breakdown
the list above says 71 games
oh I was looking at the graph alone
but maybe the error codes are old from the time where not all RDP commands where implemented
That's nearly a quarter of the games so not a bad sample size
yes
@tawdry depot as you seem experienced with excel...any way to get a list of games that have a specific error or is that too much work?
the error codes there are not the latest ones

Info
Information On This Sheet And How To Use
Be sure to set "Error Overlay: On" in the core OSD, and then press right and "Save settings" so you see the error cores
The rom pack this sheet is in the title: EverDrive 64 2023-05-15
This pack is part of the HTGDB games packs that can be found on <...
here is the sheet
I'm curious what check banjo tooie is failing that the crack corrects
Some pif thing
I just break the bits out into an array for each row. Check your DMs, just sent a link to my working copy.
It's only for the USA games right now
the 11 is a comibation of 2 errors with a space to 5 long
so most are not updated
@tawdry depot to be honest - the USA collection is good enough for now
it has a pretty good overview on what seems to be missing/broken
@wanton sun here is a snapshot of all games that games the raise a bit 10 error.
@echos are error codes updated - and how long is 'testing' normally?
Don't know if it's related or helpful, but Mortal Kombat Trilogy hangs predictably in the exact same spot - when Kitana's bio is coming on screen, regardless of if her bio is first or after a bunch of others.
just trying to get a feel for how reliable they are
I was talking to @hollow rune about that earlier. I was going through and updating some of the older tested cores.
I saw that
I don't think much has changed in terms of the error bits, other than more bits being added.
Just need to add bitwise OR to sum up error codes
that's not what I'm talking about
The error codes are only as accurate as the people updating the spreadsheet
In my tests earlier, I cleared them out if unable to reproduce
currently all the error codes that are 4 and 5 long should be suspect
just how old those are
Yea, it's probably going to take a bit more work when people check new builds
I know 🙂
@wanton sun the overview is nice but does not represent the state of the current core
(for those who want to mess around on the sheet make sure you copy/paste it to a 'local' workbook)
maybe add a flag on old reviews
re-testing requested
i mean a hell of a lot has changed in a short amount of time
if error codes are that important
I'm not trying to minimize all the work the testers do (it's been a great thing to see)
but sometimes data needs to be taken as a whole
it's not that important, i was just curious because of the high number for a case that should basically never happen
i still need to work on reducing the error flags to appear at all before
@wanton sun i was asking earlier how much you have left to do before what's left is a bug? outside of TLB i mean
still at least 2 months(without tlb)
things to do now will get more and more complicated
a) congrats and b) that is when the real hunt will begin!
TLB for Xmas anybody?
it doesn't mean all features are in then! it's mostly when i can be sure e.g. if drawing is wrong in a game and no error flag comes up, it's a bug and not a missing feature
Yoshi's island is completable 😄
@wanton sun for the github build action, could we have the build statics of fabric utilization included in the artifact?
amount of logic % used?
although the winking star with divot enabled was probably something
it doesn't really fit to the release notes
Not the release notes, just the build log in the github action
It's more of a technical curiosity
i'm not sure what you mean. The release is not autobuilded, i just upload a rbf and add some release notes
each build can have severe timing issues, so i handpick a build i would upload, so with a larger audience we will not have some de10-nanos running the core unstable because of too high slacks
i should hope so
Is that why the seed gets changed every now and than?
yes, i want you to run a build that is made for 82-85mhz and not one that only can do 70-75. For me those "slow builds" seem to run just fine, but with more boards there is a much higher chance one fails
i wonder if those ai services that do like hundreds of builds in the cloud to predict success work
@wanton sun In Yoshi’s Story Shy Guy Limbo level there’s these water drop guess and they all have diagonal rows of missing pixels
I barely caught one here in the corner
i have no idea what the reason is, sorry
the star in mario64 i already found and added to my to-do list. It's not a divot bug itself, but the RDP doing coverage information wrong
i assume those sprites are done via copy mode and that probably destroys the 9th memory bit that is used for coverage
It's cool when you come through and explain things. Really awesome as a bystander. Keep up the good work!
I think you deserve a break. You’ve been providing too much lol.
i will take a break today...just after this little change 🙂
i can't remember who posted the bug entry of Ares for this game recently, but thank you very much!
is that body harvest ?
the issue is that body harvest does read the pad constantly and this will slow the game down if the pad responds too fast
i made a option to slow it down like real hardware does and it runs stable 20 fps
nice
before it was 4-6
kinda similar to the pad-timing stuff for all the psx pads ?
yes
always loved this game, it's like GTA with Aliens. The size of the worlds and the amount of freedom is outstanding even for N64
yeah it seems way ahead of its time
@wanton sun didn't say this - but thanks for fixing Yoshi's Story - I know people don't like this game but I was looking forward to play it
body harvest is a pretty neat game but the later levels get pretty bullshit lol good luck if you end up playing it all the way through
probably would be a good one for cheats
i was never able to beat it. In the PAL version you cannot even choose easy for the full game, you have to go with the normal difficulty. But this time i will! (maybe)
It is? It crashes for me after the RARE logo. ;_;
Developed by DMA design, later rebadged as "Rockstar Games"
I liked their name as DMA. Doesn't Mean Anything. 😄
Looks like I'll be harvesting some bodies tomorrow! 😏
In Star Fox 64, 0x00 and 0x01 commands are sent alternately, with intervals varying between 1ms and 20ms.
that seemed odd to me when i read that
0x00 is just controller info request, and 1ms is very fast
like yes, still an n64 controller plugged in, stop asking 0x50002
slow compared to what body harvest does 😅
it's more in the 1 us range
basically every response seems to trigger a new request already
very useful to have fastest pad response times with a game running at 20 fps, haha
seems playable 🙂
i got my raspberry pico talking to my n64 controller last week...and knowing how it communicates i am surprised that works at all for body harvest
yeah once a frame should be it
it takes 32us to even send a request? 4us per bit
i'm still a bit unsure how all those games will behave if i made the PIF stall until the pad response is there. Asking 4 pads is like 120 us
it's 9 bits with stop, so should be around 36 per pad
oh right, the 9th bit
i send that and then wait for the controller to pull low and read the next 32 bits
it is crazy how fast it communicates for 1996
the controller responds like 1us after the stop bit, too
By the way
Found an easy bug
@wanton sun jeoprady doesn't work if 4 controllers are connected
And core forces 4 controllers atm
i tried to figure out how less controllers work, but didn't find it yet
i tried with project 64 and no matter what i send back from the controllers, always 4 are available in e.g. mario kart
Someone was talking about jet force gemini yesterday, is it working now?
no
anyone has seen a software emulator where you can use less than 4 pads and the games show you have less than 4?
Thanks for the quick answer 😁
Hm, never tried that. On real Hardware MK64 doesnt let you choose 4 player if you have only 2 controllers plugged in. Same as you stated above
you'd think that if it got no response back it wouldn't show a controller
But what a weird bug, that jeopardy one
Yeah
Yes, Project 64
how do you set it up and which game to try?
i tried with the default controller plugin and mario kart, could start a 4 player game (with only 1 pad set to on)
I have only one pad set up and just booted Smash Bros
does the game say you have one pad?
Wow my first time being in this chat in the middle of the night (for me).
time zones are nuts!
Usually I use Mupen and all four players default to active but not on PJ64
Yes, one pad only
im looking forward to trying that one finally also. added to the list to try one day a while ago, just didn't know it would be on MiSTer then lol
new portal64 build https://github.com/lambertjamesd/portal64/releases/tag/v0.12.0
ok, will try it, thanks
Glad to help
Was there a change in video output size? Banjo kazooie doesnt use full 4:3 on hdmi and more left
I was hyped to hear sound when starting up the new Portal Beta but sadly it cuts out when an input is registered
It looks weird on my corio to crt now because of it
very early testbuild with the new padspeed = slow option. If you want, please go into debug menu and set "Pad Speed = Normal" and test if that still works fine with games using controllers, rumble and controller pak. Could also trigger all kind of other bugs
It's normal, just centering is missing
I'm gonna try Portal lmao
I thought my pi corio controller was bugging out
Will pad-speed have to be set manually?
Portal is still the same. What bizarre default controls the dev has enabled. Grammatical errors too 😦
the controls are fully mappable
idk what pad the defaults are meant for but its weird yeah
Only settings are "Normal" and "Fast"... With "Fast" enabled, music plays for Portal until an input is performed. With "Normal" enabled, nothing plays.
what is normal vs fast, the PIF blocking?
@vapid hawk do you know what kind of save type is used on Portal n64 demake ?
err, he made a vid about this
because the DB doesn't set the save type
SRAM i think?
I will check !
There are now menus for Portal64 including save files and control

I've been trying out the Diddy Kong Racing romhack by FazanaJ that several people have posted in here. I've noticed that many of the VI options don't do anything, most notably the "VI Dedither" so i get a speckled background. I'm running the latest core and i didn't test this previously. the issue does not occur on the normal Diddy Kong Racing game - just the romhack. Any ideas?
maybe try it on ares and see if it happens there? maybe the romhack dev turned it off
It's because the game detects that it's running in an emulator, so some options are disabled. I got it working correctly by disabling the emulator check routine, but I'm not home to share my findings.
yes it is SRAM 32KB i will propose a PR
its actually kinda nice there's a bug in it
since its open source, should make it easier to work out whats going on with the core
PR proposed and test save is ok.

Looks like Portal 64 uses an Everdrive header so it should work with latest MiSTer unstable + N64-database_new.txt

Is that an MD5? It does not match my Portal build as of this evening.

or maybe I didn't patch it well ...
shouldn't we just put the id in now instead of the md5?
so we dont have to keep updating it
It'll match on ID:_ED_3_ sram32k|cpak|rpak
When I check I get d17ac58b39937671e80eb9061b3bf4b0
so it is my file portal_pak_000.vpk
2c92b8e597e4a8c51a5f49225b98ec82 portal_pak_000.vpk
by ID it will be less difficult 😅
My vpk matches yours... strange
d17ac58b39937671e80eb9061b3bf4b0 if you md5 the whole file
on my side I md5 just 4096 first bytes
both work
I know that accuracy is not the main goal, but is there already any data how accurate the core is currently compared to real hw? Or is it only possible to tell when it‘s in release state
With ys now working, anyone willing to test mortal kombat trilogy? There sometimes was a small portion of the floor having similar rendering issues
Hello there, I tried to patch sm64 with the no face patch and the link pinned here (With us rom and patch), and it result with "a bad crc". I wondered if I have to choose a particular rom or extension to be working ? Thanks for the help
You need z64
M
there's a lot of n64 test roms you could run for comparison
Its working, thanks a lot !😁
The way Robert has implemented aspect ratio switching in the newest core, you'll have to add a new line to your MiSTer.ini
128:15 should work.
was rogue squadron working before today?
i seem to recall it used to crash really fast
Nice, sound works! I just saw the video hit....cool stuff!
Oh, spoke too soon. It starts now, but still cuts out whenever any sound plays. Probably already discussed in the thread.
Yep. @left depot clocked it.
yes the title screen have issues but in game it is very playable
You mean the most recently released one or the next in line? Because it's been working fine for me so far without changing the Mister.ini
Yoshi's Story is fixed!
Just had a great time playing it thanks!
I never had any crashes with it
Or maybe I'm thinking of Shadows of the Empire
rogue squadron is the factor5 one
I love the project but that guys videos are so verbose without saying much
I guess. Have you tried it on mister yet? It's fun
Why are y’all still up, go to bed!
I know know who else but PCN and myself are in the UK I'll have you know.
LOL it's not our bedtime it's going on for lunch.
I did go to bed. This is morning!
I'm in the UK! Wish I wasn't at times.
I hear that... I know what you mean.

trying to finish the quiz area in banjo again as prep for Banjo Tooie. it's still objectively terrible
cheating this time with a list of answers open 🙏
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUU...
I can't remember that part very good but aren't the answers different on every run?
I'm too late 😅
I was interested until waititi. I'm waititi'd out

Treasure Trove Cove's got a treasure hunt, how many X's, you little runt?
Treasure Trove Cove is easy for sure, How many Jigsaws open its door?
this is romhack kaizo level shit where it's like.. clearly the devs who spent months working on the game know this stuff
madness. sorry all, just had to rant again
objectively bad
Ha fair enough. Been watching The Bear too
Did I read earlier that Banjo Tooie can be patched to work?
#1096015979055697940 message
It works since a few weeks with the Everdrive patch
Didn’t know that. Cheers!
I'm going to wait til the core passes the piracy check. I still have so many other games to play more. 🙂
Banjo tooie can be played in all its 15 frames per second glory
I'm just happy that Blast Corps is running now. I love that game even though I'm terrible at it. Houses go boom.
The Shadow of the Colossus of the N64
i was playing around with Perfect Dark and Banjo Tooie yesterday on real hardware N64 and shocked at how poor the performance is
Goldeneye 64 and Banjoe Kazooie never dared go that low
They pushed the hardware. but the hardware pushed back even harder. 🙂
Banjo tooie is impressive with just the scale of everything
But the system just gave up
bad designers
That's a hot take, talking about Ultimate/RARE
🤷♂️
its the same N64 hardware for earlier games as the later games. they shouldn't have pushed the hardware if it means the games run poorly
It's not like Ocarina of Time, one of the most highly regarded games of all time also didn't frequently dip below 20fps
even Banjo Kazooie doesn't
if that's a hot take then i guess it's a hot take, but i stand by it aha. i felt that way as a kid too
I think the generation didn't have much time left so they were up against the clock to get games out, or have them cancelled or moved to Gamecube? Who knows. But I loved the Stamper games on the Speccy when I was a teen so RARE have a softspot will me for that reason. 🙂
Banjo 1 I loved but to be honest I've even played the sequel.
it's just specifcally the later era N64 games i have an issue with, overall i love Rare
hol' up. you're defending a game you've not played??
Maybe the MiSTer N64 core generates enough interest for ROM hackers to create patches that optimize performance for some of the games.
it's possible .. i'm very curious about where this MiSTer core goes and what it can do
the Perfect Dark performance patch is already way nicer to play than the unpatched game
I think that people would be more likely to just play the XBLA versions of the games
a lot of untapped potential in N64. Even Mario64 doesn't run as well as it should. it had debug stuff left in? and rom hackers have got it to 60fps now with optimisations etc.
yep, they didn't compile with optimisation compiler flags, there is a patch that is literally just the decomp recompiled with the -O2 flag that alone increases the performance by a good amount
Was it a case of it being hard to dev for like PS3 due to complicated hardware, or did that generation of consoles not last long enough to plumb all it's secrets....
I think that some of the crappy performance plays a part of the charm of some old n64 games for my part
well the Mario 64 case at least I'm pretty sure was just Nintendo being completely unfamiliar with programming a game in C and not assembly, at least at first
Then I guess I'm not among those people. I love the 360 Banjo but it's just not the same as playing on N64
RARE Replay is awesome, but playing as God (Shigsy) intended is also awesome. 🙂
I’ve got the latest core downloaded and I noticed that the hdmi feed out of the mister looks good, but the analog signal out into my RetroTink 5x has pretty significant amounts of color banding. Not sure why. Does that check out for anyone else?
Can you take a photo
Got mario kart amped up to work, pretty amped up about it
it's very fun!!!
i also just beat the Gruntilda's Quiz.. i take back all bad things i was just saying about Rare
Just gotta take notes of that hot witch gossip you get from her sister
nice of them to reveal that right at the very end of the game!!
It's a little thing called immaculate game design... gotta find more cool mk64 patches tho, it's literally the only thing I play casually now but tired of the same stages
It’s no problem, but I won’t be able to get to it for a day or so.
no, it's only for testing now. If it works stable, i will make the normal speed standard and leave the other only for debugging or remove it fully
fast is more or less as before, normal is 32us per controller byte response, about what real hardware/snac would have
Is this the reason for the fast banker numbers up in MM
another Portal64 update. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAkSHzR-P7M

been playing a variety of games on "normal" controller speed, didn't see any issues
thank you!
I'm playing with the xbox one controller, suddenly the z trigger was mapped to L trigger which is good, couldn't map anything to that before
Would anyone mind testing xg2 with the normal controller speed? That game has messed up controls currently
I can
Though I am ot sure what zou mean about normal controller speed
Mickey's Speedway is excellent, I never knew this, up until I just played it, just now.
Skids feel great
similar boat. i feel it's one of those games if i saw it at the rental store or something my eyes must've diverted straight past it because of the Mickey mouse box art or something but it's way better than you'd expect.
Oh there is something very wrong with Extreme-G XG2
Doesn't work with 8bitdo with X-Input via Bluetooth
Will try some other stuff
It seems like the inputs aren't able to be held
Same with 8bitdo wired
Yeah, in my experience it's like ever button press is happening at least twice
That feels like it could also be the case
There's a build Robert put in the channel here that reduces the controller polling or something like that
#1096015979055697940 message
That sounds amazing
i also personally appreciate they put in options to turn off the racer dialogue :D
Damn I didn't see that. I just found the skip story option in DK64. Rare were definitely ahead of their time as far as QoL went.
It is a pretty game Extreme-G XG2
Somebody waited their whole lives to make that menu
Pal version seems to control fine now, didn't try NTSC yet
Definitely would have looked a kiddie cash grab
works perfectly with the speedpad build
Awesome! Thanks for checking
You can actually charge the shots, which I didn't realize you could do with the other build
works 🙂
completly forgot there was this issue. Maybe this racing game with controller pak issues is also fixed
ok, it's not...
I don't think I can recall any other instances of games with similarly stiff controls
yeah I haven't run into that before

Now GT 64 with pad speed :normal runs 15fps
Hold on FIFA 96? Don't you mean FIFA 98 as FIFA 96 never came out on N64?
GT64 runs like shite on a Real N64. Very Low Framerate and one of the reasons I hate that game!
I'm interesting in FPGA programming but i'm a beginner. I would like to know if the analog video signal generated by the mister is :
- The digital picture provided by core that mister scale and generate a PAL/NTSC signal
- The core generate video analog signal with original dot clock and hsync/vsync signals, and the all this signals are directly output to the signal connector (scart for example)?
oops yes 98
Usually its 2
On N64 rn its not 2, it uses the wrong dot clock
But its gonna use correct dot clock eventually
I guess some of you noticed it already. A small display bug at the TV Screen popup in Blast Corps when the instructor speaks. Anyway still hyped that this Game works now 🙂
There is another bug in blast corps
If you try to control that stomping robot thing it starts to reverse it's direction
If you tap the stick slightly everything works fine
There must be a buffer which starts overflowing and becomes a signed value
oh shoot, i'm incredibly glad that Ares github issue helped. you are a wizard!
did you check with a padtest that your pad really has a range of 85? this sounds like the same thing buck bumble has with 127 range pads or missing mister main adjustment
What’s the best Bluetooth dongle to use with the switch n64 controller please
Any compatible dongle I imagine?
I found something odd. It's not a core bug, but it only happens with the core because of the output. My Samsung Q80T (sucks, do not recommend) dejitter (lfr compensation) in game motion plus causes huge purple artifacts to appear every few frames in very specific areas and with blur features on. It is common enough that it has some forum posts for modern games, but the resolution makes it super subtle. It's really interesting that the VI features cause it so reliably, though. This tv is a pile. I guess I have to use the core as an excuse to upgrade since it's my wife's favorite system. Or just keep the jank setting turned off in the tv. But....still.....
Go with one of the tested compatible ones from known resellers and you'll be fine. As long as it has Linux support and it's based off of a known good chipset you should get decent results.
Some people have better luck with a usb extender (me included) for keeping the signal strong as the power sandwich and/or case can attenuate the signal a bit. So I generally recommend that if you're further than 6 feet from your MiSTer. But it's probably not necessary for most.
Would you call it a dongle dongle?
Double Dongle Donned for Donkey Kong

So I take it the Body Harvest update has issues since it was only uploaded within the channel and not to test builds?
A test test
Using the NSO here 😅
I would like to shake shake your hand. 🍻
Was that the slow pad update?
I believe so. The one he mentioned last night.
Cool cool. I'm on mobile for a little bit so discord is....sort of locked in the present for me.
Thanks!
I saw that he posted it earlier, but since it never made it to test builds, it seems to be more unstable than usual.
#1096015979055697940 message
Ok, so it's probably for the frame rate, not the color issues. Sweet, thanks!
Yeah, it makes it run at 20fps as apposed to...5 fps.
Now get to capturing that footage for Awbacon!
(brings out the whip)
Am I doing something wrong as I cannot get the switch n64 controller to move forward and back on the analogue
Left and right work fine
Try reconfiguring it in the MiSTer main menu. I had that problem too.
Did you set it up first in the main OSD?
I see I am the slowpoke once again.
Let try that, I’m sure I did that
If you don't hit the tilt down just right it messes it up.
Wisco teamwork. 👊
Can't get that in Chicago!
I still say we need a slowpoke pokemon emoji for moments like this!
I must pair my switch 64 controller everytime I power on the mister. Any solution?
It shouldn't need to. I wonder if it has anything to do with your blutooth dongle?
Only happens with switch controllers
All Switch controllers? Not just the N64 one?
Snes also
I wonder if they're still paired to the Switch or something?
Only paired with the mister and it works well until reboot
That is an issue with the nso controllers currently
Strange. I have 2 N64, 1 SNES, and 1 Genesis NSO controller. And they all connect immediately with a single press of any button on the controller.
I've never had to re-pair any of them.
I've seen plenty of people mention it
I have a wifi-bluetooth dongle from amazon.
That could be it? Mine is just a bluetooth dongle. My internet is hardwired to my MiSTer.
It work ok with 8bitdo controllers
thanks for everyone who is testing
when entering errors please do not do this
0080000 | 0080040 | 0080045
instead of this use only 0080045
as it has the most bits active
I have seen certain positions flip between multiple values but that's not a big deal currently I'd think
I have an ASUS one which is recommended that works great for most controllers. The only thing I have issues with is the 8BitDo N64 Mod Kit in NSO Mode...
Mine says ZEXMTE, and it has never failed me.
@wanton sun There are games that need the memory pak to save game progress but are compatible with rumble too. Is there possible to the core have an option for memory pak+rumble?
Back in the 1997, I only had the memory pak but I think there was a thing called Tremor Pak that works as a rumble pak and a memory pak.
Thanks for the great core and sorry for my english
Yeah it was a button
I can't believe how well Borderlands 3 runs on the Switch. The graphics scale down and make it look like an N64 game though.
Yeths mahsta! </PeterLorre>
Wish it wasn't $80 T_T
I may be misremembering, but a few games let you use a memory pak in an unused controller as well, didn't they? I only had a few games so I may have just made it up in my dumbpudding.
Damn switch tax, it'll likely drop in price
I really enjoyed 1 through Pre-Sequel on the switch.
Borderlands are fun games. I think 2 will always be my favourite
I honestly dropped out of Borderlands after they were obssessed with Handsome Jack
He's so awful as a villain, I couldn't stand him lol
@wanton sun was curious so I started checking more of the scaling of games, and to see why Banjo and others may be off center, then saw the horror that is RE2....
Every screen change in RE2 slaps is some random new resolution / scale haha
That total lines of 157 was during a FMV
That's true horror
Better spoken than many English speakers that should apologize for how dumb they sound 🤣
We should just replace RE2.z64 with an MGL that points toward the PSX version.
And not be able to change the blood color? 🤔
The fact you have gotten this far is amazing
Only programming I can do is change hello world to goodbye cruel world
Another note for Banjo is the scaling as I mentioned a while back, just for a reference in the future.
Its vertical lines / pixels are different from the majority of cores but the scaling is the same. Typically games adjust for scaling to accomodate it seems like.. but maybe banjo is unique somehow?
Remember re2 is the "miracle" game, it should not even run on the N64 at all
The PlayStation version with two CD-ROMs of up to 700 MB per disc was faithfully replicated (with unique enhancements) on a 64 MB Nintendo 64 Game Pak.
So God only knows what they did to this game to get it to run
Here is the FMV on HDMI vs Analog, Analog out is more what it looks like on the real console
Just some data points for future fixes 🙂
that's why I wrote recently that RE2 looks great on CRT , but not because I've never seen the game on CRT in my life but the N64 version looks much better right now on CRT 🙂
and transitions between screens are not so annoying
Some janky compression method maybe?
scaling of 0x200 ist best because it's 2.0x, so most sharp you can get. can even turn off bilinear there. If they would have scaled it 2.2x or so to fill the screen it would look bad
not really, more like i posted it here so if did break a lot of stuff accidentially then it wouldn't influence everyone
as it seems stable with "normal speed" controller response, it will be most likely default in the next build
When I was working on it, there were no ads beyond the branded media buttons on the remote and the default apps. In 2014, most people didn’t connect their smart TVs to WiFi — a lot just used ATSC and a separate media device. webOS was a Palm invention, the tech stack was set long before I got there to try and get the product engineering to be reasonably efficient.
back then, they were losing about a dollar per phone sold and margins on even high-end TVs were trending the same way. I have a lot of empathy for anyone trying to amortize their amazing R&D outcomes when someone can undercut/outspend you with little/no R&D.
@uncut gyro correct - I don't have to connect it to my WiFi and that's exactly what I'm doing 😄
I’m no great defender of any employer I’ve had, and not even necessarily products that shipped with my involvement. But implying “120hz BFI and OLED” is somehow free R&D and manufacturing bringup/scaling that no one needs to ultimately pay for is a Very Interesting take.
the reason why my LGs aren't connected to Wifi is because they drop their connection after 5 minutes
that's all 🙂 - no clue why as I have pretty much a mesh network
I guess it's build on java
cool story bro.
yup - run my own DHCP/NAT and use my routers just as forwarders
no need for all the fancy newfangled spyware build in stuff
but it uses the cloud!!!!
I’m happy that you feel accomplished and for all you do for the MiSTer community 🙂
I don't feel accomplished at all
You should — your attention to detail and clear documentation is the glue that helps the value of MiSTer reach hundreds (thousands?) more people than it would have otherwise
anyway, way off topic. Popping back to top of stack: Spreadsheet and SQL sk1llz are useful and good, even for the hyper-technical asm programmers out there 🙂
hey I might sounds like a pompous a-hole - but I get why companies do what they do - profit margins are so tight that they need to find all the ways they can the monetize on their products - some companies are in trouble and you can tell because all of a sudden they seem to flip a switch taking away the user freedom. LG has not do that so far. My WyzeCams on the other hand have done this and I replaced them with a company that's not so secretive about their goals 😉
@topaz otter
I don't know all the details, but the FMVs are like 80x60 in size in RE2
That would help save some space
Interesting
reminds me of that tool that converted FLCs/AVIs to ANSI animations back in ~1991 or so. It worked amazingly well in 80x50 text mode
Big Buck Bunny doesn't show anything - just the music
Big Buck Bunny tells the story of a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps... and the rabbit ain't no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.

hopefully Framework eventually starts making TVs, that would be fucking cool.
@uncut gyro but Louis Rossmann said ...... 😄 lol
dunno who that is. getting this kind of image processing inventory on OpenCores seems quite feasible, just based on that community’s own velocity, but also seeing what Mike Chi is able to accomplish
@topaz otter
I was just kidding, but they seem that chunky
oh he's a big right to repair lobby dude who hates New York
Can someone explain WTH is Tonic Trouble
It starts with a sled game and then becomes free roaming?
I also played Yoshi N64 and enjoyed it more than expected. Some of those graphics are so nice
Still confused by the default placement of the fruit meter
N64 has some weird-ass games
Berney must die
Rossman is an apple mac repairman who lives in new York and bitches about it constantly
He makes YouTube vids
I think he left NYC and now bitches about trying to escape
Isn't he in TX now?
NorthridgeFix is my fave YT repair channel
Probably, I think new yawk made a sport out of playing games with his biz license
Because he doesn't know how to shut up and they didn't like it
Is big buck bunny E4000
Northridge gets a lot of use out of thermal imaging and seems to be able to fix all sorts of items
He has his father working on the disassembly, reassembly side
Big Boss
he's in Austin now
Complains about… Open Cores? Framework? LG? I’ve lost the thread 😉
he compalins about NY
His claim to fame is showing just how badly apple laptops are designed.
and the commercial real-estate business
So he complains about that
and the anti right to repair movement
I actually like the dude and his complaints
I also know a mod for his channel
the mod is a professor designing stuff - pretty cool dude called TerribleFire
He's a pretty stand up guy as far as I know, his videos are always interesting
Hello guys, any idea why rumble pak just working in switch mode but no in d-input?
I use n64 8bitdo modkit
Which patcher did you use to patch perfect dark?
I think that's just how it currently is
Maybe someone with the modkit here can confirm
Yes maybe, but switch mode is very unstable
@wanton sun Ping just incase you missed this regression.
"F1 Racing Championship (Europe)" is no longer playable. Only noticed a few days ago but I went through the cores.
Playable on N64_20230916
Crash on showing boot title screen since N64_20230917
Oh neat, I’m a big fan of the Amiga accelerator scene even though I never had an Amiga growing up. Seeing the Vampire modules definitely fired me up about FPGA and OpenCores. I tried founding a company around OpenCores to accelerate the creation of OpenWRT-based devices to commoditize network appliance customization. I was just too early and couldn’t get capital. Now that I can self-capitalize, my interests are elsewhere (XR)
I never had any interest of starting a company - the risk of being bankrupted by a 'customer' is just too big in the US. Even if you do everything flawlessly there will always be 1 person who will see an opporunity to take everything you've been working for
and I honestly just don't want to deal with it
Someone's filtered the spreadsheet again
(Perhaps to no effect, I thought I was missing a game on the list, can't tell if anything is actually being filtered at the moment)
I helped some dude out once with reinstalling his computer at is was infested with viruses and god knows what else - I told him he was going to lose all his dat that wasn't backed up. He said 'ok' and so I reinstalled all his crap and drivers. 2 weeks later he called furiously complaining about all sorts of stuff that had nothing do with me what I did..... told me he would sue me.... that was the last time I helped someone without them signing a stupid 'held harmless' clause.
What game?
I was looking for Ridge Racer 64
there are 297 records there
Perhaps this does not exist! I was looking at old chat, can't even see the ROM
USA sheet
USA sheet. I guess they are all showing then, just that the "filters" have been enabled. False alarm
RR64?
Ri..... Thanks!
Just checking games tested around the time of "F1 Racing Championship (Europe)" to see if there might be any other regressions. I'm not aware of any
Never help random dudes
Somehow cheaper than that one VGE posted here
Yeah he’s in Chicago, while Midwest is generally cheaper it gets pricier in big cities
Tampa is much cheaper than Dallas for example, but only on the mundane
Rare commands rare prices no matter where you’re at
Why there is a paper with shadowgate 64 on it? It's a digital version?
The game wasn’t sealed so they didn’t want to put a sticker on it. Hence the note card and price tag.
Ow I see it now, thx for it
Round two!

Unfortunately, I cannot see the prices
So if I buy every game in that case is it more expensive than a mister?
Quick glance it looks like easily yes
@wanton sun You probably already know this and its all elementary for you 🙃 but I thought I would share maybe a quick way to fix the centering. Difference of H_START, H_END then use 640 as the baseline to create an offset. E.g. 640 - the difference of (H_END - H_START)
Ill shut up about the analog stuff for now 🙂
I can't see how much superman 64 is
$16 lol
Good price for good game ♥️
Price for a game
I have so many of those!
Buy 4 copies
Wonder what the trade in value for that would be
LOL
If people are dumb enough to buy that shit then I guess those kind of stores deserve to stay in business
Damn should I not get it?
You're the only one putting in the work for us
thats a reasonably rare color, i'd grab it
even if the sticks bad thats fixable
I'm about 1/10000 as efficient as Robert, but I do what I can haha
Well on the analog front.
I think someone helped out with the analog stuff on the PSX core too. At least early on
Ok I bought it. @vapid hawk never steers me wrong!
you ever used Buyee?
Fun fact you can strong arm the owner at these places because they'll tell you hey I can just sell them on ebay
Then you say then why are they still sitting here
In this episode I will restore this Nintedo 64 (N64) which is very yellowed and doesn't show any picture on the TV. This model was originally transparent blue/white but now it's more transparen green/yellow. There seems to be also some damage from water or other liquid.
To open the console, I need a special tool usually called game bit. Such sc...
It's how I paid 90 bucks for a crate of N64 games at trade it
And it wasn't third party trash either
I got Conker and paper mario and battle for naboo
The dude wanted to argue with me about it
What do you mean like he regretted it after the sale?
He probably did but he wasn't moving them anyway when he wanted 90 bucks just for paper mario
retro game resale is one of the biggest rackets right now\
It's just stupid, I told this dude how about you give me a price and I take what I want
I never understand this people finding console in the nature with lot of soil on it. I suspect them to take a console and to get it dirty themself to make a fake restoration video.
I just assumed floods or something
Imagine all the n64s that died when the levy broke
looks like it sat by the shoe rack
Im kinda surprised at the popularity of these console restoration videos for a while now
Even console that have been preserve in cupboard can have problem with rust so imagine a console that has spent weeks or months outside ... I don't believe this videos 😉
This is like people saving animals. They volontary put the animal in bad situation adn then recue him to make a btful video that will have very much view.
This read sold at game city as in good working order
does it work?
It does after I resoldered the wires that were literally corroded right off, cleaned up all the metal, and replaced one of the bulbs.
How do I get on this latest N64 database train?
@hollow rune I've finalized the error formula for the spreadsheet. Let me know if you'd like me to add it to the public sheet
Just replayed Yoshi's Story and I'm a disspointed 11-year old all over again
also damn that full N64 is strong
its def no Yoshi's Island
I am actually not in charge of that. You'll need to run that by @worn delta
cue me reading up on Yoshi's Story's scoring system to see if there was something I missed and coming to the same conclusion I reached back then
30 melons is always optimal
and max score on each level is pretty easy to reach but very time consuming
Sorry, what is this error formula?
Is the song that plays in Ikana Canyon the same that plays in Big Boo's Haunt?
N64 vid is loose
Does anyone else think it's messed up that the little girl made her teddy bear look like a Gibdo?
What controllers are everyone using?
mostly the retrobit tribute 2.4g
lol
bit on the expensive side, i've seen worse though
Region unlocked = we removed a tab
Yup!

price are reasonable.
God I'm glad mister exists
Divot adds more blur than I expected
it does a lot to clean up stray bits in the image
So I patch Mario 64 with no face and it still crashes right after start . I don’t know what I’m doing .
Sounds like it wasn’t patched correctly
Which rom?
I’m guessing you used the wrong patch on the wrong game type, easy mistake to make actually
There’s so many variations of Mario 64 haha
Oh buddy .. Lol
I’m not being sarcastic just incase
I think I found an error. Kotake calls Hylians humans

The top one I’m sure is for the plain US version
Ok thanks Robby
Twine hi def mode looks like a trippy fever dream with red wireframes, pretty cool
Yeah my pleasure dude. Please let us know if that works!
No Warrior64 no buy, I know what you have.
I wonder if it is in the 3DS version that way
🤓👆 i think MM has lots of references to humans as a means to distinguish from the other forms (deku, goron etc)
my buddy seems to be better than me at pd and getting it to crash with the patched version
i played for a while but suck at the game
Aren't MM folk Terminians?
I wish I had a pleasure dude
he played a higher difficulty with lots of firing enemies and did well but made it crash often
LMAO
game cant handle his skill
are hylians human ?
No
they look human
So do lots of things that aren't
they’re video game characters not real
Politicians
i never really thought about this before lol
arent they all human and hylian and terminian is referring to where they're from 🤔
yeah i thought hylia was a country
this is getting into like .. Hyrule Historia territory / timeline revisionism territory aha
So yeah I didn’t copy the patched Mario file over . It just sat in my folder . I’m playing now thanks Robby again
Zelda has humans in it?
the game can't even keep its lore straight aha
The Majora Effect? lol
Link used to read The Berenstein Bears. 🙂
humanish
Nah, looks like hylians and humans are different
It decodes the error code for each game and then allows filter and sumation
well i'll be !!!!
We don't want anyone to filter the sheet as that is universal, if you are wanting to filter then you need to do that on a local copy
sheets has a thing called views for that
you make a view then you can sort/group/filter etc it whatever since only you see it
In majora's mask can you get deku nuts from the babas that stand up?
Can't they all be humans, just different race?
human is a race
I think hylians are a superset of humans, like dwarves are a subset
It's not specifically for filtering, it just breaks out all the error code bits so that you can copy and filter
Human is a species?
@languid dune is Body Harvest running faster now? Saw your comment
In today's update. Runs at 20fps now!
It's not in test builds, but was posted earlier.
There was an update today? Lol
I didn’t get home till 5 am and my dog woke me up at 7:15. I’ve barely kept up with anything
Can anyone help a very tired man with a time stamp for it? Lol
@cerulean elk #1096015979055697940 message
Awesome. We have another birthday to go to tonight and I barely even want to be awake right now 🤣
Wasn’t even hung over. Dog just insisted on starting her day at 7:15 and wouldn’t let me sleep lol
Tell Pepsiman to keep that dog in check!
That’s what I get to staying out that late. I knew the costs 🤣
