Just some good practices over the years when doing ticketing for development environments; it should be effective for the development team & informative for the final user. Normally you must use tags on the issue tracker for classifying requests apart from the issues.
But when a ticketing system can't be used with tag directly, generally we use some brackets with the necessary "tags" needed.
So someone from a dev team could use the search system rapidly for finding the pending requests immediately.

I always say that the N64 controller is a shockingly good Saturn controller!
Damn it @burnt matrix it was not “dislike and subscribe”
daaaagnabbit
What does that mean?
It means the de10 has 9% space left to do more “stuff”
Capacity of FPGA chip in essence
We got 9.4 gallons of water in a 10 gallon bucket
Oh OK, interesting. I didn’t realize it could be “filled up”…
It has so much “logic”. Think of it like a hard drive. It’s got a capacity. It can store until you hit the limit. And like a hard drive you do not want to run it 100% full. That’s when problems occur
Building the core and letting Quartus lay it out (pathing everything) gets messy at near to capacity
I’m sure someone could explain that better. I’m the media division of MiSTer 🤣 not the coding side
Seeing Virtua Fighter running in the arcade for the first time ever, as a twelve year-old. On one of those huge 60" rear projection cabs. Nothing else comes close.
Any reason to not run with “3D Pad” selected as your controller input?
I don’t see a mapping to turn analog on or off.
So, gouraud shading is in? Does that mean Lara Croft no longer has a a painful looking cramp in her calf?
that's the hardware part of the hardware emulation.
he's essentially rebuilding the entire mobo, even as he recreates the saturns many pieces of silicon on the fpga chip in hdl, he also has to use some of the fpga to create physical bridges between them and the rest of the DE10
@serene thunder Yeah, there was a rendering error in her calf that made the shading look inverted. It almost looked like she was having the worst leg cramp of her life XD
This is how I look at my SEGA consoles
Not only Astal, Panzer Dragoon 1 (USA), stage 2 sound get warbled when fighting against the giant worm the second time (when he throws dozens of green thinggies)...
Ok Bug doesn’t work with the 3D Pad. Cant have that, back to Digital as the default.
Is SNAC supported ? That would be the only way to get light gun going, and the starting point for mouse
Yeah some games (especially earlier ones before the 3D pad came out, like Bug) don’t work with it
SNAC is supported but not yet implemented in the public core
Speaking of which, @inner token you think SNAC is ready for prime time now that the core has been updated for everyone?
Yeah some games simply don't work with 3d pad.. earthworm jim 2 is another
which btw looks amazing on the Saturn
So I'm here with another hot take
People say the Sega CD is best version of Earthworm Jim and Saturn best of EWJ2
but like the Sega CD has that awful big bruty level that I just can't STAND, it's unplayable for me, and the Saturn EWJ2 plays rather differently in my view than the other versions, like in the Lorenzen's Soil or whatever it's called stage I kept running out of time, and the marshmallow stages handle more touchy
so I'm not convinced
However the soundtracks on those are much better
Saturn has Gouraud shading added and is in update_all now
Me too but I WANT to like the Sega CD version
if there was a hack that took out that shitty, shitty stage that might be the best
SNES EWJ 1 looked amazing back then
the SNES version looks better and has better controls but is missing a stage
I was a devoted Genesis kid, but certain SNES games stood out
Yeah that's distracting
but I looooooooooooooooooove the Lorenzen Soil music
it needs a save feature bad though I didn't want to abandon my game
I got SNES early, but all the slowdown made me nervous
Plus the wonky music with patented muffle horns
Wait there's a password system?
you mean I didn't need to lose my game?!?
oh, I don't remember a password in Genesis or Saturn
maybe I missed it on Saturn
uhhhh okay
lol
It might have a level select cheat at least
Back in the olden days, you could swap Genesis games with the console still powered on
Sometimes they would switch to JP mode and even have extra content (Revenge of Shinobi)
Hmm, I'm still getting low audio in Sakura Wars 2 compared to other games, and one of the instruments used in the sound font for Sakura Wars 1/Hanagumi Taisen Columns sounds wrong (which may or may not be a preexisting core issue, I can't recall)
Though all the weird graphical issues in SW2 seem to be fixed so that's great
hell yeah
gonna run update all for the first time in a year. looking to load up the saturn roms. The core runs zip files?
no
Looks like Tomb Raider is nice and fixed up now!
Still runs and sounds like trash, though...
So authentic!
They just look and sound nicer.. the games have always been a bit challenging for me. So I wouldn't get past certain stages anyway
That works yeah
but not zip?
Pandamonium is only ~45 MB as a chd
Er, nevermind. It didnt take a lot of space to begin with.
You ever see Ikaruga on DC in CHD? It will break your brain
it's some stupidly small size
The ST-V ported games like Puyo Puyo Sun and Cotton 2 in particular are really small for SEGA Saturn games.
Really highlights how they were originally optimized for cartridges before they were quickly ported to the SEGA Saturn.
I wonder how feasible it would be to make the SEGA Saturn core run SEGA Titan Video games.
As far as I'm aware, the SEGA Titan Video arcade hardware was identical to a SEGA Saturn in terms of specs, with the only difference being it used cartridges instead of CDs. This made it incredibly easy to port games to one or the other.
Hmm, a lot of sound effects in Sakura Wars 2 are wrong, at least judging by going through the demo version
Might be a few funky soundfont instruments too
@fringe kettle Maybe you could file the issues with Sakura Wars 2 on the Saturn_MiSTer page?
Ideally with comparisons so srg knows exactly what he's looking for.
yeah I think I'll record some footage of the errors later tonight
Is there a new SNAC core by chance
I let a friend turn on and use my mister and now saturn SNAC is all goofed, trying to see if there is a way to delete all settings or whatever
Would rather not do a fresh install
But I seriously cannot figure out what changed so wondering if there is a folder somewhere I can just delete
I don't know how SNAC can even be goofed, it's on or off there's no bindings or anything
Any new 32X update?
Yah I'm not sure what's up, I had it all set up and was making food, buddy went downstairs, turned it on and did something and now it doesn't work
Is it turned on in the menu?
Yah
He's in "IT" and apparently went nuts in menus
Lol I'm just gonna delete and reinstall
Oh my god this game slaps you with a giant tutorial lmao
it is morning, coffee time, game time 😄
Damn, Panzer Dragoon Saga is cool as hell
It’s so bleak and primitive looking but the unique art style shines through.
Does it work on Pi?
you let this person use your MiSTer? lol
nevahmynd - twas the 322 core, 323 rectified it
You know, I didn’t think to play it on the Pi 5 yet
does anyone have a link to the latest rbf? My update all is not working
i appreciate - thank you
Thats the single....
wait, I just realized...
Is there no difference between the the single and Dual ram versions, now?
the version I linked was from update all
No differences at this point. Update all is always going to have the single ram version from what I've heard.
Good to know
and done.
meanwhile what I heard with the music before in Sakura Wars 1 and Hanagumi Taisen Columns wasn't so much a bug as much as it is the sound coming from the MiSTer sounds harsher in general than on real hardware
but I don't know if that really necessitates an issue report
looks like a good account to follow
Is that smoothing from the shading I see people mention?
smoothing?
it's correctly shaded but smoothing would imply a filtering process
should see Resonance of Fate, that thing had a fucking tome before you could play
I had to read it like 4 times before I understood wtf to do
who determines what video processing presets go onto mister?
like there are snes specific ones e.g.
who makes them and who then decides "yeah this one is saturn specific let's ship it"
i watched this movie just days ago
Les Schtroumpfs?
forbidden planet 1956
It’s linear interpolation of vertex colors over the polygon surface. Which was implemented in the core long ago, but it seems it mixed up the vertices somehow until this last week.
Question: what’s the best way of minimising interlacing lines over hdmi?
hire azum
Saturn 480p core. Like it.
The RetroTink 4K probably
I just ran update all, only stuck to main and had the old October build for the Saturn core and now it's gone?
Didn't get the new one and lost the old one
That's never happened before
Anything like this happen for anyone else similar to my set up?
Running again for good measure but just thought it was strange and I'm itching to try this new Saturn build!
yeah and mine is just downloading the october version
Weird
I tried again, no dice and I lost the October build, it won't even grab that one again
This sucks
Hmm I just renamed the core and ran an update, it downloaded Saturn_20240323.rbf
Update all gets cores from https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Distribution_MiSTer/tree/main/_Console
#1046941029296779344 message
I can see it trying now!
Strange, might be internet cutting out? I don't usually have trouble with it but I noticed I had an issue with the program cps2 core from way back when and I remember deleting it and trying update again and it grabbed it correctly, assuming the connection dropped or download corrupted, etc
Progear**
Yeah real odd
Rad I'm hoping once it's done everything is squared away. I'm dying to see if ogre battle is fixed now lol
It's still sitting on downloading the core?
Passed Saturn but still downloading for me. Going pretty slow tonight
is ogre battle saturn and n64 the same game?
sounds like a connection issue with GitHub, should only take a few seconds
Different game, Saturn ogre is just a better version of what was on SNES is my understanding!
as someone who loves tictacs but hasn't played ogre, what are the best ogres?
Ahh I misread, update all still going but it completed Saturn 🙂
Weird now when I see the Saturn core but when I click it it just stops working 😞
Just drops signal and doesn't catch back on
Pain 😓
I'm not too sure I only dabbled with SNES version before learning Saturn might be the move!
Might be easiest to download it and copy over manually
Yeah true
I was too lazy to get up and put SD card in PC but I'm gonna try that now
I had bios files and everything set up before but in case that's whack now, the bios go where again for Saturn??
FTP is a lot easier for the lazy folk like us 🙂
Games folder?
I'd say if an older version on the core was working ok it's probably just the core itself you need
Yeah BIOS goes in /games/Saturn
That's right I forgot I had that set up too lol I recently rearranged my whole setup to make even more space for my lil toddler to move around so I stored my laptop haha
It's thanks to him I hadn't updated/used the ol mister in awhile but when I saw the news of the Saturn core update I had to make time today for it haha
im on my laptop and yeah the core rbf file under consoles showed to be 0 bytes? haha
replaced it with the linked one above and gonna pop it back over to see if it works now!
now it shows a respectable size that looks correct lmao
She lives!!
nice 🙂
And ogre battle finally doesn't get stuck at the first loading screen! Huzzah! Haha
Thanks for the help troubleshooting!
NP
Actually while I have ya here, I do have another question!
Specifically about the Cartridge option on the Saturn menu, I usually leave that at DRAM 4M, I never owned a Saturn but I know those were used for specific games to enhance the consoles capabilities, is it ok to just have that on all the time or do some games not like that??
I think some 1MB RAM cart games don't like the 4MB one
Lol. on phone, no idea why I replied to that msg
Outside of obvious latency, playing mister on my projector is the sickest thing ever
RPGs or anything not sensitive to lag haha
Gotcha, I was just curious haha
in uni I had a shitty projector and played through all of majora's mask on an emulator, that was fun
I figured MAX POWER 24/7, 4 MB ALL DAY EVERYDAY haha
but now I have a big tv I'm like.. nah I don't wanna play on a projector haha
maybe if I had the best projector in the world, 16k resolution, and a home cinema room
It was always a dream to own one and I finally caved on one earlier this year mostly for movies and tv shows but I can't resist the gaming potential haha
have you ever tried that thing, I saw about it a few years ago, I forget exact what it is but it's like a vertical projector and then the wall slants so that it won't reflect the sun or something
Saturn games look so damn great at this size haha
No clue on that one chief but I should investigate it!
I thinik I'm thinking of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3R9YfEbdJA but I'm sure there's something else I'm forgetting about angled projectors that reject sunlight

ah that's it, it rejects lights from your lights and only shows the ones from below
Oh sweet I've seen these online but no personal experience! I have just a standard home use projector, the xgimi horizon pro, it's not as bad at gaming as some have made it out to be!
Also I'm running baroque on this new core and man it's running great! Before it had some garbled graphics but was still very playable last October! Now it looks to be nearly perfect (I think) haha
In a majority of cases, the 4MB cartridge will have no impact on games. They'll simply ignore the cartridge and play like normal, similar to the Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak.
It will only cause problems if you want to play the 1MB compatible games or the two games that use the ROM cartridge. The former will introduce glitches, and the latter obviously won't even boot due to the cartridge slot being occupied.
Die Hard Trilogy refuses to work if you have a RAM card inserted too, just in case.
Gotcha, thank you so much for the breakdown on it!
Is it ok to get v2.9 or is it necessary to get v3.0 ram? Has it been confirmed that Radiant Silvergun audio drop out is due to old version of ram?
I don’t have 3.0 and the core has always worked fine for me. Well as fine as it worked for others haha.
I just checked, and I have v2.5 ram currently. So maybe I should upgrade?
If you’re not running into problems with the core then you’re good
Well Radiant Silvergun music stops after a few secons into level 1
So I'd say I AM running into problems, unless that is normal
look
imma tell ya straight
I had the cursed 4chip ram
I got myself a replacement, 3.0 was on the market by that point.
it fixed everything
for literally all but one user here (hello @Aktane ) it did what we needed it to
2.9 is fine, 3.0 is the same but with an additional ground
I still haven't checked what 2-chip ram i use. But it's clearly not 3.0. Got my complete mister in summer 2022. So, it's probably 2.9
Ok there's a review on MisterAddons that says it all With MiSTer's Sega Saturn core, the music was dropping out on most games. Some online research suggested the problem was my older V2.5 SDRAM. So I upgrading to V3 SDRAM from MiSTer Addons and all sound issues with the Saturn core disappeared. Very happy with my purchase!
So, since I am on v2.5, I will upgrade to v3.0.
again, all but guaranteed to solve the issue.
BUT
no one can say whether srg320 will one day figure out how to get the compatibility resolved with older versions.
so don't be too shocked if it turns out the purchase was somewhat redundant
some folks rushed out to buy a dual-ram setup and then got mad at the guy who thought it would be required.
I guess it can't hurt to have some extra RAM around, de10-nano are affordable again, so it could be used for additional MiSTers (one in every room?)
a video wall of misters
Are they?
Yeah that doesn’t sound normal
Are there sound issues noticed when running dual 2.5 ram? I have been using that and have not noticed any sound issues.
Yeah, that was embarrassing.
this is why is always try to downplay dual ram so people don’t feel they need to spend more
2.5 has never not had problems
No ram upgrade option on multisystem yet, so hoping the issues get resolved in the core
There is a marking on the sdram
okay there's no way to tell in software?
Haven’t heard from anyone with the newer ultimatemister multisystems, wonder if they have the same issues
No ,sorry
is the ram module obscured by the analogue board?
I think it is possible to read the marking
maybe @steel salmon just knows what kind of ram units are used? (I bought a saturn board last september)
With the newest 3.0
I don't have tools on me atm
2.5 are not sold for a long time , so you have 2.9 or 3.0
I bought mine back in Feb ‘22 and I have 2.9
hmm maybe time to upgrade
Yeah my 2.5V MiSTer is from late 2019 or early 2020
My first de10 I bought with sdram v 1.1 32mb 😁
it does not feel like I've had a MiSTer that long but I guess it has been that long
I just noticed next month is my MiSTers first birthday. I should get it a present.
core has been working great for me too. retrocastle 2.9 ram
havent tested recent core
what was done in newest
An rt4k... wait a minute
It's not fun mentioning that when @tranquil mulch is not around...
What do you get a MiSTer who has everything
I even got one of those fancy aluminum cases.
Yeah maybe I have the same issue as awbacon did with Nights on the latest build. I get kicked to the main menu and it blasts noise for a sec and doesn't play. Christmas Nights works great and looks amazing now.
Ram is 2.9
Try image from another source
I had the same thing with VF2
Those cases are also nice.
they could only be better if they had the wifi/bt built in
mister is up to 7199usd
my god
our currency is in the gutter
yuan when?
I kid, there isn't even a pretender to the throne of the almighty USD
How many usb ports does that one have?
4 + user
I'll stick with mine, it matches my pokemon game.
Core just got another update. Not sure what it fixed
Official release for dual sdram?
Oh I think it’s just a delayed build for yesterday’s release
Does the composite blend video option work on this core? I see no difference turning it on or using adaptive.
it doesn't
ran update_all but it didn't grab the new build?
just grabbed it manually, but that's weird
it's the big secret they don't want you to know - it doesn't make a difference
I have not been putting the time in I need to.
Sometimes life just gets a little too fast
You’re fired
i have ram 2.9 its working
I haven't tested in a while. How do I get rid of the "cd biosnot found!" message every time I load a game?
Use boot.rom , not boot.bin
#1046941029296779344 message

thanks. I figured it was that.

Sega Saturn? More like the Sega Saturd!
It's been over a week since my last GIF Robby! Don't make me use it!

Tempest 2000 is now looking a lot better with gouraud shading fix, level select no longer flickers and tunnels in-game look far better
Oh that sound track will make me reach for the lazers
whats the best saturn bios?
Region free ones 😎
what are the names?
Auto region switching is in, right?
yeah, but I think it may still be a bit buggy and I have noticed that some games just don’t like the Auto setting and you have to specify the proper region
might have been a bug in the last snac build affecting usb port 2 controls when snac was on and nothing plugged in. Doubt anybody was really affected by that but that should be fixed here.
Away from PC but, any google search for Saturn bios that has a file that says RF on it is region free. They’re archived on the web.
2.9 or 3.0 are recommend, for the second sdram stick, any 32m 64 or 128m sdram are ok
Can https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/16 be closed?
@steel salmon I meant which sticks are already in there? I bought a single ram, is it probably a 2.9/3.0 then?
I got mine from him in early 2020 and it had 2.9
you're fine
you can check this yourself in a minute with a a screwdriver
if you've got the aluminum case its a m3 hex-driver iirc
Hey! Enjoying your I/O boards and RAM since 2020! Great stuff! Keep up the good work, man!
I have a policy against taking instructions from creatures who don't show up in mirrors.
you are more edgy than your mom 😄
it was all 3.0 now
fantastic
Hey, thank you 🙂
Have you seen his face? Damn thing would break a mirror 🤣 (kidding love you Vampier)
Hey guys, radiant silvergun seems to get stuck as soon as the game starts.I have got a single ram setup and a 3.0 ram module. Can someone please confirm? Thx
It was working without audio with an older version of the core...maybe the bin got corrupted? I will check another image though, thanks!
I checked the Saturn and Arcade mode , works ok
Works for me as well. Using CHD single ram 2.9.
Thanks to you as well!
Just checked another image but still no luck🤔
All the other games run perfectly!
Are you using an SD card or something else?
Sd card...shall I try with an external drive?
Nah, SD is usually the most compatible.
Cool, thanks!
Get the redump image
Thanks, that's the one I have been using till now. So weird!
You're sure you're using the latest version of the core?
Yup!
Works perfectly fine. Just played it yesterday.
😭
Music yes, VFX still has a few minor things tho
It's confirmed. Your MiSTer hates you.
You might be right actually🤣🤣
Does the core still require unstable even tho it’s in update all now?
I will get a new sd card just in case...
No, as far as I am aware!
Thought that could have been the sound issue
Ah!
Bingo
There it is
Thx for clarifying!!!
Cuz I’ve almost always had good sound in the game
Now you can become as unstable as the rest of us!
🤪
🤣
Damn it! Still no luck with the lastest unstable! Must be this bloody sd card! I will get a new one!
I'm using an external SSD, works fine too.
Good point! Just trying now...🤞
Uhmm...it gets frozen exactly at the same point! Not sure what is going on...for a moment I tought it was the ram module but I have just run a few games and they all worked fine!

LIVE NOW checking out the updated Saturn core by @srg320_ for the #MiSTerFPGA - https://twitch.tv/owlnonymous
hi thank you for making this available! I recently picked up a SNAX + Saturn connector and it's a great experience using the original controller. Can this also work with the 3D controller or light gun ?
currently all controllers except lightgun are supported
trust me when I say I've tested a lot of them
Thank you for the quick reply, I was hoping to try some Virtua cop. I have the 3D controller but it's not being recognized for some reason, i'll have to test it with my Saturn to make sure it's ok
3D controller should work, the saturn connector might be touchy try to not plug it in all the way.
maybe plug it all the way in then back it out a 1mm or 2
i wonder if lightgun support might happen soon now
Don't tell me this. I just ordered v3.0 ram to replace my v2.5 ram to fix this exact issue. 🙂
thanks for this! tested my v2 USA saturn controller with SNAC for an hour last night and it worked perfectly.
..then I realized I'd rather be playing with an arcade stick and switched to USB heheh
tomb raider is looking great now the gourad shading is sorted out
out of curiosity, what exactly is making xmen vs street fighter crash?
has anyone who has been testing found out what the message is? It might be important
hi, this was it, thank you! unplugged a hair and the 3D controller is working
shit that’s definitely the face of someone who’s seen the horseshit that is the future
don't feel bad, it's probably the most common problem people have with saturn.
I recently updated from 2.4 ram to 3.0, some games like Hyperdual would freeze after a while running a demo loop, with the 3.0 it's been going for a few hours no issues
So is 3.0 required? I have 2.9 but some games that work for others have issues for me. Mainly interested in Panzer Dragoon. On my setup I have audio drops or loops
2.9 and 3.0 are the same spec.
I'm using 2.9 with no issues.
Seems like games be freezing a lot for me
Like the FMVs might freeze yet the game is still running
He's Brasilian, but gave his speeches in English.
His message for the future is clear.
Go fast. Turn left.
im brazillian but never played this game
when he talks in the game?
Could be standard for Japan: foreign language dubbed over into Japanese with no subtitle options.
Is there a specific snac adapter to use with the saturn core?
The official ones should all work per the table on MiSTer Addons. SNAX is needed for N64 and PSX though. So if you're gonna get one, might as well get the upgrade.
I've got all three and the SNAX all work, but I have to dig my original SNAC out to try it. I'll give it a go tomorrow and tell you how it is, but it should be fine.
OK, I was able to test SNAC and it works perfectly too. I've only tested single player and there's the caveat that 'beta core' and snac isn't officially supported via the MiSTer repo yet. @inner token just loves us and wants us to be happy so we keep getting builds!
Thanks for testing 👍. I would like to take a snax, but I only plan to use it for lightgun games (and perhaps a little bit with my 3d controller on the saturn core). Furthermore, I live in Europe, I m afraid the shipping costs would be to high.
Definitely hold off until lightgun is impermanented and tested. The core currently doesn't support lightgun through snac as far as I know. I may be wrong, but last I looked at the controller code, lg wasn't fully set up yet. Blie would know for sure, though.
Ok, i've already order a classic snac adapter, mainly for the nes lightgun. If the other saturn controllers are compatible, i imagine that there is a good chance that lightgun will be 🤞
Let me know how you get on with the new module when you receive it then!
Thanks, I saw this, unfortunately I suck at games. But I may just participate.
Appreciate the tag 👍
I think I may make the top 100 😂
but everyone else here only plays update_all
i play unstable saturn cores only
and since we already have a stable release I have nothing to do 😛

Looks like he’s been constipated for a week and is praying to all the gods at once for relief
My message from the future to him is ‘don’t join Williams F1 team’
I am glad someone is thinking about the future
So are we now certain that ram v3.0 is the way to go for stable Saturn? i live in the EU area so any tipps on where to buy? i saw this product but i thought i better ask before i buy the wrong RAM for my Mister 🙂
https://ultimatemister.com/product/xs-d128/
I have 2.9 from MisterAddons and it seems to run fine. I think the issue is if you have something pretty old like 2.5.
i have a dual ram 2.5 build
most games i try run on the saturn core but often the sound effects or music just stop
I don't want to tell you to go out and spend $60 USD but it might solve issues for you
im still thinking about it, but would these be the right ram? or are these good ram? 🙂
my knowledge is limited but the only ram with issues are the four chip ones
okay thanks 🙂
i guess ill wait a bit longer, i like the core very much the way it is now, so far since the last "stable" update only Panzerdragoon Saga intro crashed and i had some audio cut out on Burning Rangers (but only the music so the game was playable) Gotta say as someone that never had a Saturn the core is shaping into a place to find new gems for me 🙂
2.9 and 3.0 are appearently pretty much the same
#news message
got 2 of these in my mister but so far it seems like i got lucky because i have less problems than some people here.
is the crosshair/reticule in panzer dragoon meant to be so hard to see?
it looks kinda yellow-ish in online screenshots but grey on the core?
So just so I can confirm if it’s a me issue or not…does Panzer Dragoon audio work perfectly for everyone else on the newest core from update all?
If its Panzer dragon 1, I get a black screen after starting a new game lol
If I mash the start button I get ingame, but with no sound. No music and no special effects. So no its not perfect 😅
Does anyone else get visual noise when playing Earthworm Jim 2 (U)?
I have no issues with other games. Single sdram.
Panzer Dragoon works perfectly fine for me
I have a MMS so the RAM on it is of an unknown spec
ok 🙂
I like the idea of a jrpg that just threw convention out the window.
killing large rats in a tavern? pft, were gonna start you on the back of a Dragon; fighting an empire
The fighting an empire part is pretty standard at least.
I thought the standard JRPG is fighting for the empire, turning against the empire, and then killing god.

an excellent little introduction to the making of
Yeah, I was enamored with the idea of the thing.
I remember reading every article I could find on it when it was talked about.
curious if anyone else has the issue on the latest saturn unstable core where in all-star baseball '97, the music has bizarre timing issues, like the instruments are somehow out of sync with each other. kind of fascinating, though it also makes me feel like i'm having a stroke, lol. i know this core is kind of finicky and sensitive to different MiSTers and RAM so dunno if it'd be the same for anyone else, but it is pretty amusing if nothing else
I don't see any issues in graphics while playing. Any specific examples ?
Just visual noise, like white snow on the foreground layers in Level 1. Starts mild, gets steadily worse.
I don't see such problems, work fine
That together with mouse support are my most desired features for the Saturn core
Last time I checked mpeg card support seemed unlikely 😦
One can only wish
I found a bug in the core
All interlaced content are displayed as progressive using direct video
Even on the CRT it looks like bob deinterlace over 240p
Instead of legit 480i
(scanlines are visible!)
The playstation core displays interlaced resolutions properly
this has been known about for as long as the core has existed
Oh! Ok
at one point vge said 480i worked, no idea how he thought that
PSX core had the exact same issue at some point, possibly the same fix would help here
something something half-width lines?
@kind stump will know
Just posted a 1cc playthrough of Darius Gaiden on the latest core, down in #share-media message
Who knows 🤷🏻♂️ maybe a poorly written comment in return
might be a case of neither devs using a crt
iirc MikeS was the guy who fixed the screen offset before
Had no idea what that was, thank you
its funny cos it sort of looks like how you expect interlacing to look on an LCD or whatever so it takes a minute to realize its hugely wrong 😄
saturn still in beta?
there's a release version but its definitely still in active development
imagine this as a 0.9 version
srg is constantly hitting us with updates
you might wanna hang around if his next batch are only in unstable-nightlies
this is silly and I think I know the answer, but Saturn requires 128MB of sdram right?
Like, a 64MB stick won't work
No. It won't. And you need to have a 128mb stick that has 2 chips. Not 4 which some abnormal sticks have.
yeah I know the thing about 4 chip vs. 2
I was 99.9999% sure I knew the answer, but someone asked me and I was like...I'm not 100% sure 😂
This is why the community collectively recommends avoiding 64mb sticks. It's going to lock you out of a lot and only saves you like $15
Lol
yeah, in this case this person bought the 64mb stick like 3.5-4 years ago
Gotcha. Unfortunate. Yeah... in the future, if you need to save money. Go 32. But yeah if you're gonna buy a 64. Just get a 128.
Either way yeah they have no choice for Saturn but to get a new ram.
yeah they're ordering it haha
I got mine in 2020 as well, but even then I knew I was going all in and just wanted to futureproof
I mean, I'm also a dual ram boy sooooo
well he got one back in like 2020/2021
must have been 2020 I think
I don’t know that anyone does, though
got pretty unlucky to catch that brief window
yeah
tell them to keep hold of it those are going to be collectors pieces 😄
play the rare alpha neogeo core ! ooooh
i remember trying to get into MiSTer in 2019 and seeing all this documentation and pictures about the pros/cons of vertical vs. horizontal ram and feeling overwhelmed 😅 it wasn’t until smokemonster did his video series that I finally pulled the trigger
Is SmokeMonster out of business? Got to know the MiSTer from him by the time he was still living in Brazil
he ... retired i guess?
nothing crazy happened he just stopped doing his show, afaik anyway
closed his discord too
I thiiink he might live in the same state as me, but not sure
"disrepair"
I think the MiSTer fad is over
Mister? That like a mistress?
Hi..
According to the tracker Spot Goes To Hollywood should work on single ram. Doesn't on mine..
I see the sega logo on startup and then just goes black.
Tried a few different bios/chds and still the same.
Other games seem ok.
Any ideas what to check next. Thanks.
are you running unstable mister?
what ram you got?
Spot was last tested on February 10 , something may have changed 🙂
Thanks. I'll take a look. Good call
Just tried the latest unstable and same. But having just opened up my age-old mister it's got 2.5 ram...maybe thats the issue.
I'll check Spot soon to see if it works for me
Thanks 😊
Works fine
Thanks for testing. On what ram do you have?
2.9
Is there a spread sheet with compatibility list? Similar to the one for N64 core
#1046941029296779344 message
Bless !
aye
Polymega is the future
Lol
i like original hardware
Polymega is certainly... original
No.. the future is...
I'm holding out for the Monogamega. I don't have enough time to subtweet my roommates and care for someone else's reptile collection.
It’s as original as my girlfriends boobs
So…imaginary?
🤣
Hello everyone, I'm new to the Discord. Where can I find the up-to-date compatability list for Sega Saturn games?
Nevermind I found it scrolling further up. Radiant Silvergun says playable but I'm getting crashes during the third boss. Anyone have a similar issue? Any solution? I'm using the most recent update all core btw. Single Ram unit.
Try the nightly build and see if it works
Will do, thanks 🙏
Is it at all worth it to overclock Mister for Saturn Core performance?
Or to get a second ram stick?
Probably not. The core is at a point where almost every game should work with single ram
That's really cool to hear! I've been looking forward to Saturn FPGA forever
Dual ram isn't needed by any released cores.
it's needed to inflate my ego tho
How about PSX core? When I played it single ram it felt like there was some input lag
that was a long time ago though
PSX core, with a special build, can use dual ram, but it's only for sound, and it's an imperceptible thing
if you were feeling input lag there, that's more a problem with the controller and display you were using at the time, most likely
or a game that itself had poor input response
gotcha
yeah probably
game was Brave Fencer Musashi
my roommate and I both played it on PS3 on the same TV
must have been controller
There haven't been any code changes since release, just FYI. The CLI build that triggered was the release checkin. So it's probably not going to make a difference.
No input lag possible. It’s from your TV or controllers.
Or old age

lmao
I have input lag : (
That being said, there are a lot of crashes still as the core is basically just now creeping toward beta quality. Though I'd still call it alpha because it's nowhere near feature complete.
It's VERY sensitive to RAM and storage timings. Though far less than it has been.
It’s more like Gamma
I used the nightly build just to grab the dualram version of the release because it makes me feel superior to use my extra ram dangle
Saturn you mean?
there was a PSX tangent for a sec
Ah, gotcha.
yeah because we were talking about dual ram
PSX is pretty buttoned up. And released. But SAT is definitely not.
I use the dual ram Saturn because I can’t let DP hog all the glory
Expect lots of bugs and lots of different experiences from one MiSTer to the next. Again, it's getting tighter and closer to ubiquitous though.
Did you poop OK?
Dual RAM because one alone can't pull Thor's chariot.
That's a shame, I've been enjoying the Saturn core. Keeping up with VG Esoterica's videos, seems like a lot of games play at 100% no?
How much longer do we think until its complete?
Probably, honestly, zero play at 100%....timing is still being tweaked every build. But perception wise, a lot are there.
Dunno. Dev is in an occupied country, FPGA is very packed...
It could be never (it probably won't be never)
This is where I admit I never owned a Saturn and can't tell anything thats wrong lol
So far I've played and beat Die Hard Arcade with a friend, that was fun
A lot of issues are audio...which a lot of people can ignore.
and I can get pretty far in Panzer Dragoon
Video Game Esoterica isn’t good
He’s great!!!!
LOL
@naive whale
You rang
I do
Your moms been telling you stories about me again hasn’t she?
But shading is just starting to come into its own (it was a stubbed out 'bare minimum' implementation for a long time). Controller work still needs to be done. Some of the 8bit color math is still TODO last I checked. So it's a ways off from feature complete. But it's still one of the best ways to play. Just can't say definitively what will work and what won't work because it varies so much setup to setup.
We need mouse support on the core. Then im satisfied
You did the impossible recently which is make me want a 3DO
Glad you watch them! Appreciate it
Oh no
I’m sorry
Someone mentioned mouse should work through SNAC. I haven't confirmed it though.
Hell yeah
Actually I’m distracting from Andy’s great rundown of the current state of the core, my bad
Don’t listen to @burnt matrix his brain is mostly cheap beer and bbq sauce
yes yes we all know robby lives in texas
EXPENSIVE bbq sauce.
And you say it like that’s a bad thing
Not being snac. I meant more like how it’s being used on PSX core. Just plug in your own USB wireless mouse and it works
Young, dumb and full of BBQ sauce
It’s a game changer on the psx core
There's a huge chunk of HPS controller work still to be done. I know that's what you meant, but if you need it earlier, it might be an option.
We really need that light gun support so I can play some VC
One thing that confused me about SNAC, I see Saturn controller support is still in alpha? Does that mean if I buy a SNAC now I will need to buy a new one when for instance 3D Pad support is added?
I’m about to have some right now LOL
Probably not.
But SNAC isn't part of the build at all.
I’ve had policenauts on hold until we get mouse support
I feel like anything that has to put “real texas” on the label is in fact NOT real Texas
Robby: Real* Texas
fake texas
@naive whale you tested Wii controller on the PSX core to emulate as Guncon right?
I think? If I did it was years ago
Does it work on CRT as well or only flat panels?
Anything
It’s agnostic. It takes the IR signal and creates a position via that. It never ingests any screen data
It makes playing on a projector REALLY fun, TBH.
Also it’s wild that I can’t even remember testing it because it literally was over like two years ago now
You'll have to be patient with me as I don't understand. https://misteraddons.com/products/hdmi-controller-adapters?variant=39583021170821 This says only basic Saturn controllers supported right now. Does further support have to be implemented through the build?
MiSTer Addons

Yes.
That's awesome, I gotta try that
SNAC is just wiring
any SNK/Capcom/FGC nerds know which arcade ports are worth keeping on Saturn, given we have Neo Geo and CPS1/2 cores already?
Like which ones have extra features and modes that are worth keeping the games on Saturn for
All the rest of the support will come in the core implementation
BUT it's not just basic controllers. SNAC will work with the digital pad, the mission sticks, etc. But light gun needs some implementation still.
i know alpha 3 for sure, but not really wanting to try all the other ones just to find out haha
Gotcha. Thank you so much @naive whale and @drifting frigate
SNK I’d honestly say zero
And the nights into dreams 3d pad too?
Yep
lightgun support isn't missing from snac (it actually works, the trigger and buttons) it's something missing in the saturns gpu that is needed for it to know where you're shooting at
I use that over SNAC almost exclusively.
yeah it seemed that way especially with the CD support on Neo Geo now. extras like arranged soundtracks are all there as well i'd guess
MAYBE Twinkle Star Sprites
Yeah, this. It's the beam processing.
I think.
But that's the core feature of light gun so 'missing' is mostly correct.
I have one...sitting there....staring at me.
yeah and you can safely buy snac now and when lightgun support is added to the core it'll work
That sweet raster I love so much
I was just reorganizing my gun collection today
I need to do that.
I need a gun rack for my lightguns 🤣
really looking forward to playing virtua cop and house of the dead on the core
I love that dude who patched the few justifier games to work with Guncon
(not true. I have fewer than @naive whale but I have about 10)
Fucking hell @drifting frigate get out of my brain
HAHAHA
I found a damn light gun in my closet today and I don’t even know when or where it came from
I'm...kind of excited, Sagan help me, to play Crypt Killer.
Some HAPP 45
whats special about that one on saturn?
I tried hooking up my Mister to a CRT monitor (analog IO) but I had a lot of trouble getting it to work and when it did I didn't like the image. Will these new Pro IO boards listed on Mister Addons be worth getting? I'd love to play some gun games on my CRT too
Fmv intro and some extra characters. Not much
Outrun is technically an arcade game that's WAY better on Sat, @prisma wraith
i like the game so i'll keep it for sure. thanks
But the core for outrun isn't in a great state, so the Saturn core is even more the way to play it, IMO.
oh yeah i know about all the sega stuff. got my ages collection ripped and ready to go
60fps baybee
I might be the only person still adding Saturn and PS1 games to my shelves even with the cores
MiSTer has become my primary way to play but it has not curved my collecting 🤣
with that 60fps mode, arranged soundtracks, and selection between course layouts all included in the game, probably better than arcade. even supports full analog gas and brake so I can rig up my wheel & pedals just as well as the arcade version
I wish collecting didn't become so expensive though lol
part of why I got mister in the first place
option was pay a G for a kitted out Sega Saturn or buy Mister and wait (and enjoy every other core)
Just got that one last week
Nice! Is that the one you showed on a video recently?
Yep. Andy D captured it. It’s a fun game. Hard to understand but fun
i'm excited to downsize my collection honestly. just keep the input devices I love and some favorites. already got rid of all my DOS games besides Ultima 7. those take up too much damn room
I let a console go yesterday. First thing to leave in years
Dev Pippin
But it crossed paths with a new arcade board coming in so it was a push
Now I'm thinking about that Pippin prototype destroyed by customs and I'm having a sad. I don't like Pippin. But I love gaming history.
Dev devices are cool, but would end up as a paperweight in my closet
Lol don’t jinx me
If it wasn’t Pippin I’d have kept it
Impossible console to have fun with
Haha
But on the plus side, get the pippin ppc in fpga and you are closer to m2
Well it was sold to a museum. I’m not UNICEF
I got a drawer full of M2 chips as is
Furrtek?
Maybe. Some are down in Florida with Fixel
Transistor tracing has to be a state of zen.
Or an exercise in hell but that’s just me
Spare NOS Bulldog ASIC
It is sad that the netlists aren’t available. I wonder if they even exist anymore.
That and CE32 are M2. PowerPC was just obv off the shelf
The only proto hardware I have is a Kinect (but it was the final production model, just the internal MS dogfood units sent to us before it went into full scale) and a first gen Tegra tablet for win 8 RT ARM testing. Super boring.
I don’t collect dev stuff outside of M2. The Pippin was me drink bidding on eBay
That's how Denethor got roped into a Pippin too.
Back when it wasn’t a house payment to accidentally win something?
I saw it. I saw it was dev. I threw in a bid. I won. I regretted
Yeah prices have gone up a TINY bit
I sold an FZ-21 in 2021 to a collector on Dubai. They will pay ANYTHING
Haha
Money means nothing to them. One of the minor Bin Salman family members
I wonder how many of those kiosks just went into the trash
The large majority as far as we can tell. We have serials noted close to 5000. We know of about 16 that exist FZ-35 wise.
FZ-21 we have serials into the 3000s. We know of six that exist. I had two. Now I have one
@severe whale Just tried Radiant Silvergun on the new unstable nightly and the crash seems to be fixed. Thank you Kel, @drifting frigate , @naive whale and everyone else for answering my questions! Goodnight everybody!
Happy gaming, and keep reaching for the stars! <walks down greenscreen path off screen>
Don't remind me!
Come on dad, you already have mom's rack.
@pine stratus : did you ever figure out your Radiant Silvergun issues? I'm having the same issue it seems. Level starts, I get a freeze when it writes "Stage:3A return" or close after
Unfortunately no! No luck at all! It is the only game that doesn't work...and it is my favourite one doh!
I am sure the issue is related to some ram modules incompatibilities
...but I am also sure it will get fixed at some point! So I guess we will have to be patient till then🤣
apearantly it works on the latest nightly build
so try that out
if it works there then its only a matter of time it will be fixed in the main
I updated my v2.5 RAM with v3.0 RAM and the problems with music changing to silence and crashing in Radiant Silvergun are gone! Using the same core as before, official version 24.03.23 from update_all. So it is true, v3.0 RAM helps, at least with the current state of the core.
make sure to send some love srg320's way if possible
Yes, of course. The MiSTer is my favorite hobby. Even with all these upgrades (RAM, IO Board, Noctua fan, SNAX cables, Reflex-Adapt etc.) it is still cheaper than a hi-spec PC and it has less total lag. 🙂
It seems like even having a v2.9/v3.0 RAM module doesn't guarantee Radiant Silvergun will work. I have 2 MiSTers, one with v2.5 ram and one with v2.9 ram. The one with v2.5 ram won't even get to the title screen for Silvergun regardless of core version. The one with v2.9 ram plays Silvergun just fine.
I just got a v3.0 module in the mail from mister addons and replaced the v2.5 with it, and now Radiant Silvergun boots, but it usually freezes before I can gain ship control, or freezes once the first mid boss is destroyed.
I don't think it's the SD card either, I was using the same sd card in both MiSTers
It just happened to me that it freezes in Duke Nukem 3D, in the second stage in the store full of aliens that has 3 red buttons to open a door, I'll try again to see if it's regular.
Other games run normally and even better than before, this last one is a great update.
I remember reading somewhere that each 3.0 RAM (and guessing 2.9 as well since they are nearly the same) has some type of variance, people were referring to it as the RAM lottery. Not sure what exactly differs - I think it may be speed related - someone with more technical knowledge would likely be able to explain. But since the core seems so RAM dependent currently, maybe that is why it isn’t working
It has to have tight timings in order for it to even be feasible on the NANO-10. The SEGA Saturn is a weird system, so it requires equally weird solutions.
weird system with weird games for weird people?
that's why I don't play saturn, I'm a perfectly normal people
This is how I imagine you when you write these comments
Crash Bandicoot? Tomb Raider? Tony Hawk Pro Skater?
Nah mate, I enjoy Planet Joker and Death Crimson. 😎
So it's your favorite system!?
lol its pretty awesome
Could you try swapping rams between your de10s? Would be interesting to see if it's your ram or de10.
make sure it's not a 4 chip RAM. Those will not work correctly for Saturn.
Same here. Radiant Silvergun never booted with my v2.5. I have then decided to get a v3.0 just for this game...lol...and I was over the moon to find that it worked perfectly fine although without audio. I have just checked when I have placed my order and that was around the beginning of October. It has stopped working after the lastest update but probably even before that as I seem to recall that I was getting a black screen at some point...but I thought it was a random video glitch that you get when you switch from one core to another one...anyways I am sure it will get fixed sooner or later!
What is LFO?
Low-frequency oscillation
LFO
PCM sampling: 16‑bit and 8‑bit audio depth, 44.1 kHz sampling sate (CD quality), up to 32 PCM channels
(Saturn spec)
https://segaretro.org/images/2/2f/ST-077-R2-052594.pdf
Says:
LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator)
Indicates a functional frequency generator that generates wave
forms with frequencies that are below the range that is audible to
the human ear. The output wave form of this LFO is used for
amplitude and modulation of frequency.
You can't hear an LFO but you can hear its effect on other things. Often used for vibrato (wobbly) sounds, but has a lot of other uses.
Old synths would use them as the clock for sequencers for example, but we're getting out of the realms of Sega Saturn there...
Maybe it's related to the broken sound in Sakura Wars 2?
Could be, what's broken about the sound in SW2?
@fringe kettle your wish has likely being granted
oh cool, looks like lightguns are going to happen. I raised an issue for snac support and asked him about the pad interrupt and HV latch.
might just treat myself the the Sega Stunner micro-switch mod
I wonder why only basic pad for SNAC? I’ve been testing all the latest builds and SNAC is working flawlessly for me.
@inner token is amazing! 🥳
Brown note support finally added to Saturn core
looks like he reworked all the controller stuff.
Weird, how come?
Ok the dual ram build got posted, finally I can enjoy this core again and not have to slum it with the single ram plebes
omg I have that game too
LFO is a pretty great part of the SCSP sound treatment.
And not an easy one to implement too.
something strange might be happening in the new core with controllers. In dead or alive I'm controlling both characters with one pad even with both pads and snac set to off in the OSD. This is on the dual ram core
Doesn't happen in the previous core
Haha yes , confirmed
yeah there might be a couple new bugs. also seems to be a bug in the new controller code that affects snac and usb controls. normal pad usually reports 02FFFF but new core it is 02FFFC
But only abc , not direction
DAMNIT beaten by @mortal mist
L and R not replicated but START is
START + A B C duped on P2
If you’re having issues with some games this is your reminder that the core only works for people who ❤️
.
I filed a bug - https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/174
GitHub
On the latest unstable core (Saturn_DualSDRAM unstable build: https://github.com/MiSTer-unstable-nightlies/Saturn_MiSTer/releases/download/unstable-builds/Saturn_DualSDRAM_unstable_20240329_1242b1....
Rayman doesn't work anymore.
The game is hyper sensible to pad timings on the SCU.
You can choose a save file and the game will stays still without going in-game.
yes, same here
I've tested my other opened issues, no changes part for Waku Waku 7.
he's probably still working on controllers. the type selection in osd doesn't do anything now. it seems to always be digital pad, that may be what he meant by " (only standart PAD for now)"
I think it will be the following step on fixes for a next version.
SNAC SUPPORT FINALLY 🎉
thank you mister blue1 for giving us snac support in the interim
Oh nice, that does seem like it'd fix it, based on the description
heck yeah
I filed a ticket about it with some example clips a few days ago, if you're curious https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/issues/172
Don't know if it'll fix that steam sound effect mentioned though, and that one's legitimately ear-piercing
Wonder if it will fix the little buzz I get when jumping in Bubble Symphony
You can hear the lack of LFO on mister in the melody before the steam effect. On real hardware it has vibrato/a wobbly sound
Yeah I noticed that too
That should hopefully sound better on today’s core then.
Perfect joke and you know it!
Latest unstable is messed up. Pressed start button in SFZ3 to start a new battle and I've got a second player joining. Using a single USB controller here.
2 players, 1 controller 🙃
this is an option for nerds without friends , you play with yourself
srg320 will definitely fix this soon , although it was cool to see one pad control two characters 😄
Is it really perfect though if I didn't get the joke?
It just hasn’t gotten to Wisconsin yet
Soon I bet
Rayman works fine again 🙂
fast fix
bug with second controller is fixed now @burnt matrix
Sounds like it was just a typo.
Thanks.
I was getting outside for a moment and saw the mention.
I will test later tonight.
Gotta wait for the sweet sweet single ram build of the fix.
it's out bud
Hmmm. SNAC isn't going so hot. Two controllers cause the whole thing to fall down. I think this checkin from an hour ago is maybe not in the CLI?
Looks like it is. Hm.
Yeah, when I plug in 2 digital pads with SNAX, they crossfire and neither works correctly. Oh well, until the next build!
Cotton 2 sounds miles better, or I'm just imagining it. Hehe. That's so cool.
It seems that bug sound is now ok. But i need to compare with Real hardware.
SaturnDay in 4 min
But it's Friday.
every say is SaturnDay
Lol, my old office mate was his bassist in Sanctuary (he was exec producer). He's kinda nuts, apparently. But such is the way of things.
I'm going to a Megadeth concert in June 🤘
How did the saturn not sell more with Ice Cube in their ads? 🤔
People were still scared of Ice Cube back then.
They were like, "oh no, I better get the kids a Playstation or a Mario"
Hey everyone 👋 last night I tried to play Virtual Hydlide (I know) but the bottom of the screen was cut off so I couldn’t read the compass. I can’t seem to find a solution in the Saturn Core video settings but please forgive me if I’m missing something obvious. How do I fix Virtual Hydlide and other games with this problem?
was this on a crt?
This feels like such a mean spirited ad lmao
No on a flatscreen
oh, weird
I’ve been playing other games like Radiant Silvergun, Die Hard Arcade, and Panzer Dragoon just fine
i don't even know what could cause that honestly
Well it IS virtual hydlide so no loss there lmao
maybe some setting on your tv? like a zoom option
It’s just a really funny game I wanted to show my friends
saturn coe doesn't have any video cropping options so it has to be something after the mister really
The saturn image doesn’t fill the screen, but I’ll check the if it’s zoomed in when I get home
Within the upscaled (I assume pixel perfect?) saturn image output is cut off
I should’ve taken a picture, my bad
i think @burnt matrix is our resident virtua hydlide expert
I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope he gets well soon xD
I have had problems trying to run Final Fight Revenge and Magical Night Dreams, I'm using a single ram module, is anyone else having this issue? (Running the latest unstable and stable core using the Hi-Saturn v3 Bios)
When I get home I’ll check my TV settings and download the latest Mister unstable and see if it’s fixed. If not I’ll post a picture. Thanks guys 🙏
Final Fight Revenge needs 4mb ram cart, did you set it up?
Final Fight has never worked but Magical Night Dreams did work but with no sound and crashed (this was with a previous version a few moths ago).
saturn has problems with 2.4/2.5 and with sdram with 4 chips
Do you have any recommendations on where to get the correct RAM? I'm from Australia. (or exactly what i should be looking at)
I recommend waiting , until the core is completed

yes!
yes!
is it working ok on the newest builds?
Virtual Hydlide is always perfect!
wow, what an awesome looking game! what is it called?
Is that the game that inspired BotW?
yeah
so I started playing it recently not knowing anything about it
it’s my least favorite souls-like
The Legend of Zelda Breath Of The Wild
Who would win, Jim or Brian?
It really makes no sense
Virtua Hydlide isn't bad, it just has extremely low resolution.
I've played thru the demo with the old and new core and can verify the sound fix did indeed resolve the steam sound in lips
Happy to hear Dave said doing well 🤘
with the latest stable build fixing the visual errors with the borders and now this nightly fixing the audio issues I think SW2's golden now
though I haven't played enough to get to any battles so who knows what's waiting there
the fact that the SW2 fan translation, when done, will be accessible to thousands of MiSTer players, and will likely an indistinguishable experience from og hardware users, is just too fricking awesome.
potentially doubles the games audience
if we're lucky the columns game on Saturn might get done too
I hope so too, I actually like that one a bit more than the sequel on Dreamcast just because it feels snappier
and the art's nicer on the whole
I'm learning how to hack games right now, its like beating my head against a wall tho
but there's a game I like and want to see more people play it, and I reckon the best way to do that is to make it english so they've got no excuse
you were involved in the GBC game translation too iirc?
yep!
wild how we've gone from only having the 5th game in english to the majority of the series
I'd love to tackle Columns 1 and GB2 someday as well, but one thing at a time
if they ever do happen and I can help do put out the call
I'll try not to forget!
thankfully games are a great way to practice Japanese, particularly any that require menuing; drills words into your head real quick through sheer repetition
The various fonts and game specific language has always been a bane to me.
the first time I read オピション in a menu screen and it clicked what it meant was about as good as it gets
オプション 😉
I had this issue with Radiant Silvergun when testing today (official release core) - played great for a while, but eventually the audio completely bombed out. I'm on 2.5 RAM. I'm surprised it's working as well with stuff as it is, though, and it does sound like with folks' experience all over the place that maybe I'll just wait before I order anything else.
I can't recall anyone with v2.5 RAM that has had perfect audio.
Could always wait and see.
Yeah, even with some other stuff that works I get a little bit of audio pop/crackle occasionally.
Damn, SEGA Saturn core is nearly perfect
sounds like lightgun support could be getting worked on right now
if i understand the changelog anyway
Ohhhhhhhhh shit
VDP2: implement external latching of HV counters
Crypt Killer time!
Elevator action 2 is fun and mostly in English
I just have bug, bug too, and virtual Hydlide installed
Go get all the Guardian Heroes endings
Oh yeah, I forgot about that game
"Play the Sega Saturn and you too shall go bald"
Maybe he was playing to try to grow hair
Lol I didn't know the Saturn makes you grow hair. I hope srg320 finds the time to implement that feature into mister
Speaking of radiation though, are we just not going to talk about this Sega Saturn ad where Japan nukes America with the caption "Nothing Else Matters"?
you don’t get to decide where the hair grows though
Okay we won't talk about it then. Understood xD
Now that I’m home, I tried Virtual Hydlide on the most recent unstable Saturn core and I’m still getting this issue where the bottom of the screen is cut off, now I have pics though
My TV isn’t in zoom mode
Anyone else encounter this and know what to do?
