Just some good practices over the years when doing ticketing for development environments; it should be effective for the development team & informative for the final user. Normally you must use tags on the issue tracker for classifying requests apart from the issues.
But when a ticketing system can't be used with tag directly, generally we use some brackets with the necessary "tags" needed.
So someone from a dev team could use the search system rapidly for finding the pending requests immediately.

@serene thunder Yeah, there was a rendering error in her calf that made the shading look inverted. It almost looked like she was having the worst leg cramp of her life XD

burnt matrix
#

Speaking of which, @inner token you think SNAC is ready for prime time now that the core has been updated for everyone?

warped cliff
#

which btw looks amazing on the Saturn

frail token
#

So I'm here with another hot take

#

People say the Sega CD is best version of Earthworm Jim and Saturn best of EWJ2

#

but like the Sega CD has that awful big bruty level that I just can't STAND, it's unplayable for me, and the Saturn EWJ2 plays rather differently in my view than the other versions, like in the Lorenzen's Soil or whatever it's called stage I kept running out of time, and the marshmallow stages handle more touchy

#

so I'm not convinced

However the soundtracks on those are much better

#

Saturn has Gouraud shading added and is in update_all now

#

Me too but I WANT to like the Sega CD version

#

if there was a hack that took out that shitty, shitty stage that might be the best

serene thunder
#

SNES EWJ 1 looked amazing back then

frail token
#

the SNES version looks better and has better controls but is missing a stage

serene thunder
#

I was a devoted Genesis kid, but certain SNES games stood out

frail token
#

Yeah that's distracting

#

but I looooooooooooooooooove the Lorenzen Soil music

#

it needs a save feature bad though I didn't want to abandon my game

serene thunder
#

I got SNES early, but all the slowdown made me nervous
Plus the wonky music with patented muffle horns

frail token
#

Wait there's a password system?

#

you mean I didn't need to lose my game?!?

#

oh, I don't remember a password in Genesis or Saturn

#

maybe I missed it on Saturn

#

uhhhh okay

#

lol

#

It might have a level select cheat at least

serene thunder
#

Back in the olden days, you could swap Genesis games with the console still powered on
Sometimes they would switch to JP mode and even have extra content (Revenge of Shinobi)

fringe kettle
#

Hmm, I'm still getting low audio in Sakura Wars 2 compared to other games, and one of the instruments used in the sound font for Sakura Wars 1/Hanagumi Taisen Columns sounds wrong (which may or may not be a preexisting core issue, I can't recall)

#

Though all the weird graphical issues in SW2 seem to be fixed so that's great

#

You ever see Ikaruga on DC in CHD? It will break your brain

#

it's some stupidly small size

ancient surge
#

The ST-V ported games like Puyo Puyo Sun and Cotton 2 in particular are really small for SEGA Saturn games.

Really highlights how they were originally optimized for cartridges before they were quickly ported to the SEGA Saturn.

#

I wonder how feasible it would be to make the SEGA Saturn core run SEGA Titan Video games.

As far as I'm aware, the SEGA Titan Video arcade hardware was identical to a SEGA Saturn in terms of specs, with the only difference being it used cartridges instead of CDs. This made it incredibly easy to port games to one or the other.

fringe kettle
#

Actually while I have ya here, I do have another question!

ancient surge
# blazing creek Specifically about the Cartridge option on the Saturn menu, I usually leave that...

In a majority of cases, the 4MB cartridge will have no impact on games. They'll simply ignore the cartridge and play like normal, similar to the Nintendo 64 Expansion Pak.

It will only cause problems if you want to play the 1MB compatible games or the two games that use the ROM cartridge. The former will introduce glitches, and the latter obviously won't even boot due to the cartridge slot being occupied.

Ok there's a review on MisterAddons that says it all With MiSTer's Sega Saturn core, the music was dropping out on most games. Some online research suggested the problem was my older V2.5 SDRAM. So, since I am on v2.5, I will upgrade to v3.0.

Definitely hold off until lightgun is impermanented and tested. The core currently doesn't support lightgun through snac as far as I know. I may be wrong, but last I looked at the controller code, lg wasn't fully set up yet. Blie would know for sure, though.

Ok, i've already order a classic snac adapter, mainly for the nes lightgun. If the other saturn controllers are compatible, i imagine that there is a good chance that lightgun will be 🤞

I remember reading somewhere that each 3.0 RAM (and guessing 2.9 as well since they are nearly the same) has some type of variance, people were referring to it as the RAM lottery. Not sure what exactly differs - I think it may be speed related - someone with more technical knowledge would likely be able to explain. But since the core seems so RAM dependent currently, maybe that is why it isn’t working

something strange might be happening in the new core with controllers. In dead or alive I'm controlling both characters with one pad even with both pads and snac set to off in the OSD. This is on the dual ram core

#

Doesn't happen in the previous core

mortal mist
#

Haha yes , confirmed

inner token
#

yeah there might be a couple new bugs. also seems to be a bug in the new controller code that affects snac and usb controls. normal pad usually reports 02FFFF but new core it is 02FFFC

If you’re having issues with some games this is your reminder that the core only works for people who ❤️ sega.

#

Rayman doesn't work anymore.

#

The game is hyper sensible to pad timings on the SCU.

#

You can choose a save file and the game will stays still without going in-game.

mortal mist
#

yes, same here

ripe valley
#

I've tested my other opened issues, no changes part for Waku Waku 7.

inner token
#

he's probably still working on controllers. the type selection in osd doesn't do anything now. it seems to always be digital pad, that may be what he meant by " (only standart PAD for now)"

I think it will be the following step on fixes for a next version.

Don't know if it'll fix that steam sound effect mentioned though, and that one's legitimately ear-piercing

Hmmm. SNAC isn't going so hot. Two controllers cause the whole thing to fall down. I think this checkin from an hour ago is maybe not in the CLI?

#

Looks like it is. Hm.

drifting frigate
#

Yeah, when I plug in 2 digital pads with SNAX, they crossfire and neither works correctly. Oh well, until the next build!

#

Cotton 2 sounds miles better, or I'm just imagining it. Hehe. That's so cool.

People were still scared of Ice Cube back then.

They were like, "oh no, I better get the kids a Playstation or a Mario"

Hey everyone 👋 last night I tried to play Virtual Hydlide (I know) but the bottom of the screen was cut off so I couldn’t read the compass. I can’t seem to find a solution in the Saturn Core video settings but please forgive me if I’m missing something obvious. How do I fix Virtual Hydlide and other games with this problem?

i don't even know what could cause that honestly

Well it IS virtual hydlide so no loss there lmao

thorn pagoda
#

maybe some setting on your tv? like a zoom option

grim snow

It’s just a really funny game I wanted to show my friends

thorn pagoda

saturn coe doesn't have any video cropping options so it has to be something after the mister really

grim snow

Within the upscaled (I assume pixel perfect?) saturn image output is cut off

I should’ve taken a picture, my bad

When I get home I’ll check my TV settings and download the latest Mister unstable and see if it’s fixed. If not I’ll post a picture. Thanks guys 🙏

with the latest stable build fixing the visual errors with the borders and now this nightly fixing the audio issues I think SW2's golden now

though I haven't played enough to get to any battles so who knows what's waiting there

the fact that the SW2 fan translation, when done, will be accessible to thousands of MiSTer players, and will likely an indistinguishable experience from og hardware users, is just too fricking awesome.
potentially doubles the games audience

if we're lucky the columns game on Saturn might get done too
