"All My Bridges Are Burning"
"Uncle Tom's Cabin", but you have to cut out the beginning
Oh yeah duh I thought you meant scorpion songs in general
im trying to think of a cool soundtrack mod
its gotta really pump you up while driving
I mean, SEGA sort of already did that….music is a little more modern, but Crazy Taxi is pretty high energy start to finish 😄
to the point where I hear the offspring in my head every time that game is mentioned
id never put offspring in daytona... thats only for crazy taxi
Soundgarden - Rusty cage is a good racing tune also proven by Road Rash 3DO
yea i dont wanna put that either cause its for road rash
i want something unique for daytona
other soundgarden maybe
definitely not rusty cage
sound garden to me is road trip music
From the "Jesus Built My Hotrod" Single released in 1991. I do not own this song.
A favor to LivingWorstNightmare, as I wanted to upload some of the harder stuff that he hasn't been able to find.
Or maybe just the original.
Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry from the album KEAH** (Psalm 69) © 1992

Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true
Jerry Lee Lewis was the devil
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet
All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world...

Good to see some solid Saturn discussion
scroll up
or shut up
23 tracks? these cant be all played on the game?
I need to check the tracks on the game disc
Alucard: This is a playstation black disc
Hmmmm … I dont think messing with the original music is a good idea ..
Same way I feel about MSU-1 hacks.
Ironic that most of the games that have MSU-1 soundtracks are ones that didn't need to have them in the first place, because the originals are so good.
A game had a crappy soundtrack? Sure, create a better one. But Chrono Trigger didn't need any help. 😉
Yes , have the same feelings
I nominate Alice In Chains them bones for driving music
Or basically anything up tempo stone temple pilots ever wrote
depends on what the rest of the tracks sound like
the intro song is good
Word , fuck it do it
I have to hear them first
I only heard that one song, which is good but maybe the others arent. Everyone liks the original OST better
I'll check it out later
I would never put something worse. Let's hear the other songs first
I agreee though I am not impressed by almost all MSU mods
the best ones were the remakes by that one guy who did the donkey kongs and stuff, but he spent a lot of time remastering them
he also did super metroid, not sure what else. All SNES games
he didnt do many cause it takes so long
Our own @polar geode has done some very cool ones. Especially the Mega Man MSU ones.
cool... I admit I stopped checking them out from dissapointment
not sure what has come out the past 2+ years
there is definitely good things you can do with MSU
I just wouldnt be interested unless its an actual improvement over the original game
but with Daytona USA CCE Netlink, they changed the soundtrack so I figured I would take a look and see since its a complaint people have
intro song is great though
nostalgia is going to be a high bar to surmount, but sometimes having an alt soundtrack is worth it just to have something for different moods
did someone put the old Daytona soundtrack on CCE Netlink?
that would be a good idea too
that is a super nostalgic soundtrack
I added Falcom Classics and Falcom Classics II to my 2D set today
what benefit is there to the saturn version of those games?
At the very least, they have nice visuals.
They have aesthetic improvements
Probably the best Xanadu facelift, with the PC98 one being second
add My Best Friends - St. Andrew Jogakuin-hen (Japan)
Mm.. I think I will pass on that one
add Idol Janshi Suchie-Pai Remix (Japan)
and J. B. Harold - Blue Chicago Blues (Japan)
Im going to play Dracula X improvement and Falcom Classics 1/2 tonight after work
you know japanese?
cause only one of the games in one of the falcoms has an english patch
Ys part 1, I think
I can to a good enough degree to muddle through, there are some fluent people on here like @lusty rapids that are more capable though
I wouldn't say fluent, but I am proficent enough for vijeo james
For people willing to put up with it I recommend using the translation plugins for Retroarch
that would be great to have on mister
I wonder if its possible
obviously it needs connnected to the internet but man that would be great
if you use a capture card, you can have some OCR software on your comptuer do it
but getting the mister to send off screenies to a translation service, and then come back down, and display that, would be too much for just the mister
true
Tolerable for adventure games with the latency
I have a whole OCR setup for this garbage that I used for study/anki card creation, that ofc skipped the automatic translation step, but that's just an option
ohh i'm keen to check out the Dracula X improvement hack, anything to know about in terms of getting it running?
i've got a save file a few hours in on the PSX but slowly losing steam coz played it before. playing as Richter from the start seems fun tho
Its just a patch, if you have trouble making it work let me know and Ill help
awesome will have a look :)
the HTGDB pre-patched download is out of date, so best to patch yourself for latest version
use the redump verified version of the base game "Akumajou Dracula X - Gekka no Yasoukyoku (Japan) (2M)"
There is an english patch for Dracula X as well. But it lacks all the improvements from the Extended hack
might be able to combine both, but who knows
could cause issues
they should work together to combine both
the modders I mean
ohh that Nocturne hack doesn't include the english built in ? dang
does it make more sense to do english first then nocturne, or nocturn then english ? 🤔
same difference?
but you can try patching it with both... maybe do the english first I dont know
all good will play around
if its still in japanese then do the other one first
or if there are issues try the other way around
Sometimes patches can be combined, sometimes not... I dont think those two can coexist. But I can give it a try after work anyway.
noooo
i guess it does make sense for the translation to not work if the hack is so extensive in terms of breaking things apart
but would be nice if they could get it back in
If I can find the time Ill try to contact the 2 patch authors to work something out
omg mediator batty. that'd be awesome
I make no promises
Could you make a new version of the patch for being able to apply it to the Extended Hack? ( Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight - Extended )
We need to have the best possible version of this amazing game :D
Thank you very much for your work and kind regards.
Looks like its been brought up before
They wont work each other, and the patches arent compatible. Bummer.
Huh, theres an English patch for Grandia. Neat.
Yeah, supposedly the English patch version (Dracula x) does have some improvements in performance as well so it conflicts with the 4mb
I think Xanadu is mostly in English if they didn’t make changes for the updated Saturn version. That would mean 66% is playable with the ys English patch
dang. makes sense.
Also both Lunar games.
Eternal blue isn’t finished last I checked
Ah, I thought it was done. Honestly not as concerned with the Lunar games on Saturn, since the PS1 versions are pretty comparible, especially with patches. Grandia though is a lot better on Saturn.
Yeah. Biggest benefit of translation is to un-work those designs.
Looks like if suikoden is ever translated there are some additions to the Saturn version https://www.suikosource.com/games/gs1/indepth/saturn.php
Someone needs to unwork the designs if the Silhouette Mirage patch.
They need to finish the patch first.
i found a loose disc of Saturn SOTN in my stuff not long ago and I have zero recollection of when or how I even got it.
Yes, Knight0fdragon's patch has a lot of bug fixes and improvements. The patch's resource page on SegaXtreme enumerates them:
MiSTer FPGA Sega Saturn beta core
One hour of Saturn Dracula X with the improvement patch for game of the month
Nice
Besides a little blast of noise when gameplay started it was perfect
Really impressed with the core so far
I tried the Falcom Classics games last night too
They run great and the enhanced ports are nice, you just have to keep in mind the age/limitations of the originals I guess
Basement brothers just did a video on Xanadu
https://youtu.be/l9WwEBpiKeA?si=Hx_c0TBzLtDtfnSe
Definitely doesn’t look like the first thing I would play through on the Saturn.
In this episode of PC-88 Paradise I finally play one of the biggest and most important Japanese PC games of the '80s. Falcom's classic , "Xanadu". The game is known to be extremely difficult, and I've never been able to get very far in the game. Will I ever be able to obtain the Dragonslayer and use it to slay the King Dragon???
Thanks to @bowl...
Yeah, thats a good video on it
Its a very early game in that genre, 1985
Just need to know what you're getting into
Id say the same about Dragon Slayer
Saturn core is really coming along! I played Last Gladiators 9.7 on it and it works great. I couldn't get Necronomicon working, though.
Splinter clip in video. Funny how he also voiced Elmo.
Looks like Xanadu has a mix of Legacy of the Wizard style platforming and Ys style combat.
The bump combat is pre Ys.. kinda rough
ouch. Some versions of Ys have it rougher than others, though.
but I'm guessing it's probably worst than even the SMS version of Ys?
Its rough yeah, not impossible to learn or anything, just primitive by comparison
Wish legacy of the wizard was modernized. It even had a port to the west for nes, surprised falcom hasnt redone it.
falcom too busy raking in the Trails money while filtering out a new Ys every so often
I like the Saturn Ys Book 1 and 2 port/remasters.. but if Im being honest the Ys 1 & 2 remasters on Steam are the best way to play those games by a mile
Its not a Falcom game, but I'd love a Falcom style remake/remaster of The Scheme on PC88
and Oath at Felghana is the best way to play Ys III
and I actually played through them (Ys remakes and Oath), though not at the hardest level. I actually got them on GoG, but I think they are pretty much the same.
the napishtim era engine is one of my favorites for falcom
Still need to get around to beating Trails in the Sky SC. Very close to the end and at a certain sticking point.
Honestly, their age/limitations are a large part of why I love classic Falcom games. Bump combat Ys games just feel right, despite the odd combat mechanic.
Not really? If you bump into the enemy at an angle, they can't fight back.
Are you talking about Xanadu or Ys?
Just last year, I replayed the TG-16 versions of Ys 1–4. All a fun time. But yeah, Oath is ultimately the best way to experience Ys 3. I will die on the hill defending TG-16 Ys 4 over the 3D remake though.
Ys. If you bump into enemy at an offset angle instead directly head on, enemies can't fight back. This is a pretty well known trick to make grinding faster and easier.
I was referring to Xanadu's bump attack being pre-Ys, and being rough because of that
and some versions of Ys are more rough about where that offset angle is at
👀
support for PAL region!
@drifting frigate fix for Rabbit 🙂
it's your fault hehe
win win
There were 10 PAL exclusives for the system.

trash it! fun game 🙂
I last tried Z on a friends DOS PC back many, many years ago.
As for Formula Karts that was a PS1 rental, but I remember it having very long loading times on it.
Actually just discovered Z has saturn mouse support.
recently I was checking boxes of psx demo discs and found a disc in very good condition with Formula Karts 😄
This was me the other day when Kitrinx added VS System support to the NES core lol
Very 90's trance soundtrack

new commits today? hype
Oh, I didnt know Discworld 2 was on Saturn
Huuh, when did she do that

She made a test core for it and posted it in the NES channel the other day, its not on github or in unstable right now
But it runs a bunch of the games, and many of the mapper 99 hacks
Rabbit 😛

/////// oh Sega Touring !!!
I checked two days ago and it was a mess
Eurobeat intensifies
Sorry, doesnt work. Boots to a black screen.
@burnt matrix maybe we can pin?
Ahhhhh...photo cd operating system.
If Pal is working that means the English version of Keio 2 might work.
worked fine before
Just saw PAL support was added, what is the boot rom set up for the core these days?
Discworld and Discworld II are nasty to emulate correctly on the system, I'm glad that srg320 could fix and support that series.
And srg320 seems to be safe, as he can work so fast on the core.
is the build from #unstable-nightlies the latest or should i wait for another?
yes, the latest 🙂
ta
Another core. Wow
It seems to go in game ok in this build
Keio's PAL version has worked ok on previous core versions for as long as I can remember
Virtual On had problems in the PAL version , worth checking out
Hell yes!
seems super solid
can you check out the two games for me?
@mortal mist check how RE is for you on this build, it seems good to me
whats the other one?
Sega Touring
dont think i have it
no change on die hard arcade, no sfx only music
thanks 🙂
Bummer. Some great music in there
found my copy - seems to work well
some audio pops and crackles on loading screens nothing major
Yup, the video is now fixed in Grandia.
nice!
Did it fix Bug! though
By the way, what does the reset logic from memory controller do? Does it do anything?
Tactics Ogre English translation finally made it past the 1st splash screen to the opening credit slides; but no further.
so progress
Tactics Ogre original Japanese release makes it thru the Riversoft logo but no further.
again, neither version got that far before so I'm impressed
A lot of the PAL with no USA games have 60hz English Japan versions
if I recall
and a lot are on PSX
Shining of Holy Ark will start working and the core will be completed 😛
I believe it was one of the more recent updates, but the BIOS autoboots from boot.rom just fine now, no manual loading or renaming required
I notice that when entering the bios menu (for example when you start a game with a region that does not match the system region) there is a strange sound. I don't remeber on real hardware the sound was like that.
@umbral radish looking forward to your test results on this new core version! 🙏
I get that horrible screech too when it first boots up to the bios options menu.
I only found 6 useful PAL exclusives so far, 4 of them are on PSX with possible better versions
ill revisit the list to make sure though
The two must haves for Saturn are Frankenstein and Formula Karts Special Edition. There is no PSX version or 60hz version on Saturn
Phantasy Star IV in the SEGA AGES Phantasy Star Collection still doesn't work.
I had a look at Sakura Wars to see if the fixes to fmv crossed over to them.
but no change so far
what about salamander 2?
I don't know. I'll need to get that deluxe pack in my games folder, so you'll have to wait a little bit.
I try to curate my CD based games, since they tend to eat up space pretty fast.
Normallly this release only add PAL timing. No other change. So don't expect new NTSC game working
np thank you
have you seen the changes ?
There are other miscellaneous changes made in addition to the PAL support, which is why I'm still testing stuff.
#1046941029296779344 message @sacred goblet there are fixes for VDP, SH1, SH2, SCSP, SCU
Strange on github i don't see all this change : https://github.com/srg320/Saturn_MiSTer/commits/master
check
commits
Saturn and SH
Ah ok sorry for the bad information ... So i will test it ! Any plan for the sound on bios startup (it make me nervous 🙂 )?
I know
sound on bios works fine
"Graphic design is my passion"
That screams of "my son has a copy of Photoshop"
I'm very impressed by the progress of the core last weeks 🙂
What is the difference between Saturn_Mister and Saturn repository?
I did some quick tests.
For now, no regression since the previous build.
The core is getting pretty solid with the patches/fixes.
Grandia FMV is fixed, as already said.
Rabbit works again.
Some moves on the Ogre game series but freeze later.
KONAMI collections (Parodius, Salamander) are broken like previous builds when choosing certain games.
Shining the Holy Ark doesn't boot.
Hang-On GP too. (EDIT : Transfer error on that game on my side)
Super Tempo no longer starts for the last 3-4 months of the main versions (at least on my side).
Necronomicon freezes with a green screen at boot.
No SFX, just music on Dynamite Dekka / Die Hard Arcade. (EDIT : Fixed typo, thanks Kuba).
Strange noise when shooting a barrel on Elevator Action Returns (incorrect pitch on the scream).
Groove on Fight BGs are misaligned by stripes.
Rayman's main map is missing a layer (Mister Dark binoculars with masking effect) and there is a poorly rendered stripe on Mosquito's stage boss phase.
Part of the Gouraud Shading isn't implemented (e.g. Nights and Croc textures).
Some transparency issues on Magical Drop III.
And I'll have to test the FMV intro again on Rockman 8 later, if the music is fixed (or not), there are stutters throughout the intro starting with the appearance of the giant snake.
crazy, panzer dragoon (PAL) works without artifacts
thank for the test i wanted salamander 2 to work
Otherwise, almost everything I throw to the emulator just works as expected so far.
Looks like I’ve gotta make a Saturn video today. Which I kinda wanted to do anyway. Rabbit time!
I have music in Dekka but no sfx
hang-on gp starts fine
I will recheck my dump and with another MiSTer too, thanks.
Typo, thanks.
no luck , some dialogue is missing and Barry is running around in circles
in UE version Jill shakes her head at the very beginning, and thats it hehe
tried NTSC J/U and EU
with ssd and sd card
same on my mister with one ram
Getting more games in my folder, so I'm a little slow with testing.
Also I want to test Super Tempo, because apparently it's not working?
what is it with the fucking bug games breaking
Volume across the board seems to be working but very low in the few games i've tried so far
yes, in some games the sound is too quiet
Daytona USA working very very well though which makes me happy - Soukyugurentai is almost working perfectly as well but enemy sprites are invisible while scaling which is unfortunate
I noticed this with Puzzle Bobble 3 and Sakura Wars Columns
Also I can confirm Super Tempo doesn't work anymore. It just hangs on a black screen.
There was an error when I transferred the game on my SD card, fixed.
I've retested Rockman on two MiSTer configs (Single and Dual) with a fresh dump from my original disc (and identical hashes as the Redump DB).
The intro does have hiccups and resync moments.
I dunno if Touring Car is worth the trade lol
Gonna capture soon for a vid at 4. Want to see that Grandia fmv working
touring car with an analog controller is absolutely brilliant, just don't ever play it with a standard d-pad or you'll hate everything about it
Def. I just never fell in love with it like I did Rally or Daytona
makes sense, it was definitely the odd one out when it came to Sega arcade racers (unless you start including the model 3 le mans game which is just ??????)
I got a lot out of it. Only problem I had with the port was the requirement to grind/train the AI car in vs. matches in order to earn the Saturn mode trophy 😐
I like Le Mans lol
A weird one for them though too
I like it but it's ODD and very incomplete by Sega standards. Absolutely impossible to finish 1st unless you go into machine settings and enable special car, and even then it's a complete crapshoot
trying Grandia now
oh wow yep that looks WAY better
one screen....not whatever it was doing before (two weird interlaced screens yeah?)
Touring Car...just how I remember
Whatd I miss? Lots of new stuff working?
sega touring car is the big one
Grandia FMV is now 100%
Shinobi X still freezes on title screen for me, alas
And if you turn off second controller?
I didnt know to try!
I love this so much
Video in Grandia is working
Super Tempo broke
Rabbit boots now and is playable
etc.
Yup, just hangs on a black screen now.
;_;
To be fair he does have the better ass, so no arguments there.
You're twisting the knife!
Some games like In The Hunt and Shinobi-X need the second controller disabled in the core options.
Bug is packing heat in the butt
Now I know, and knowing is half the battle. Porkchop sandwiches!
#1046941029296779344 message , yeah It was pinned for a while , but @burnt matrix said I was not worthy of being pinned 😔
He removed me from the pages of history 🤣
I'm sorry about it appearing that way. I added it to the Your Questions Answered section - #1046941029296779344 message
If that's not helpful or the information gets lost I can ditch that and go back to just pinning individual comments.
Just kidding Robby 🙂
It's a valid point and even if you were joking it's still important that awesome people with awesome contributions are recognized.
I updated the list, made your comment more prominent, and contributed it to you. Again, sorry for not being more respectful of that.
This is not only my contribution, I just put it together in one sentence , this is what everyone here has discovered 🙂
Thanks are due to everyone
I am happy to be here with all of you, I think we have fun and help each other always
This is the most important
Hopefully in a while we can start reporting bugs to srg320

Last Bronx is fixed , no crash in attract mode anymore
Finally!
So excited for this update. Today will be another epic day of Saturn (and N64) testing!!
Playing Uno DX on the core, and I noticed that there is the occasional bug where a voice clip fails to play. No issues otherwise.
On a side note, I swear this game cheats because I struggle to get any wins. 😞
megaman 8 first video seems to have improved a bit, but is still not fixed. still lots of desyncs
I have a little confession to make, I got a little bonus from work last week so
I used this to treat my MiSTer to a new stick of ram.
Everything I tested before that was giving me grief (Daytona, Rally, Silvergun) is working fine with this new ram and isn't giving me the issues the old 2.4 version did.
it seems like an audio channel is missing or something
noticed on a couple games im more familiar with the sound in
since the core is still in early development, the variability in both the manufacturing and the version of the sdram modules you have will probably have occasional issues like that, yeah
could be my tv
there are like 4 different grades of sdram chip you can put on the official sdram board design as well, and there isn't a good cost:benefit ratio on the highest grade so most mfg'ers don't use it, some use the lowest and everything is fine for all cores, etc... hard to tell what the root cause is
ah. messing around with the stereo and mono settings in games having the issue seems to help
might just be my tv and its shitty speakers
👍
glad you figured it out!
Sega Touring Car does have a banger of a soundtrack

I wrote a feature about all the games that hit PAL but not North America earlier this year ... might be interesting for people to check out with this latest MiSTer update: https://www.segasaturnshiro.com/2023/03/08/every-saturn-pal-game-that-didnt-release-in-north-america/
Wipeout 2097 PAL works fine
Wow , Thanks!
Fun to be doing a Saturn vid today. Gotta give love to the best console of the generation after all
Good ole PAL exclusive Swagman
DAN IS THE BEST!

i always forget 2097 came out on saturn
Added that article to the Your Questions Answered pin - #1046941029296779344 message
50hz...
The devils refresh rate
Nice. Thanks
Core can just run those 50hz games in 60 anyway
Some 50hz games run with issues (graphical issues) when force to run at 60hz though.
Was anyone else lacking audio completely for Radiant Silvergun
I'm gonna try it out the core on that one first 🙂
last time i played it died pretty quickly after starting the first stage.
288p for lyfe to!
yeah i didn't update on that, but it actually seems to be a completely random issue
i thought that helped, but it just seems like sometimes its missing a channel, and sometimes while playing it just loses one
you notice when sounds that played before become silent or missing entirely
noticed it a lot on megaman x4
but then on another play, after a reset, it'll work for like an hour and then an audio channel just sort of vanishes
and sometimes remains perfect
i think that might actually be part of the issue. one channel where a sound is louder than the other
and one drops
so it gets more silent
like you have things set to stereo with 2 speakers, and disconnect one
or use 1 ear bud
lol
Works fine here , music is ok
19 p too many IMO
multisystem ram issues seem the same as the last release
Maybe someday I'll hear it, I've tested a lot of games and the only thing I hear is more quiet sounds in some games. The music is always there and does not fade out.
i think you haven't heard what i'm talking about if you heard some sounds more silent
you have heard*
if you want an example and are using an hdtv or crt that supports it, set balance to only one side in your settings. some sound was made to be not there or more silent on one side or the other. it sounds like eventually one of those sound channels goes missing or muted, so music and sound still for the most part plays fine
but sounds that would be louder on one channel
just seem muted or gone
i can't notice it in a lot of games
at all
the two i do notice it easier is megaman 8 and megaman x4
Ok thanks for explanation 🍻
i think its something that'll just get patched on the side or something though. i dont think its a huge deal
x4 makes it easier to test since you can just fire up the ps1 version
and compare
Sorry, sometimes not everything is understandable to me. English is not my native language
what ya mean. you type it better than most native english speakers i know. probably speak it better too..
lol
pretty sure i just suck at explaining
I almost thought Tactics Ogre LUCT(English Translation) was going to work.
Not super familiar but what's confusing?
basically the naming and what is on PSX and what isnt
Kidou Senshi Gundam Gaiden I: Senritsu no Blue
Kidou Senshi Gundam Gaiden II: Ao o Uketsugu Mono
Kidou Senshi Gundam Gaiden III: Sabakareshi Mono
Kidou Senshi Gundam Gaiden: The Blue Destiny
Kidou Senshi Z Gundam: Kouhen Sora o Kakeru
Kidou Senshi Z Gundam: Zenpen Zeta no Kodou```
particularly in terms of Redump names
Kidou Senshi Gundam is literally just Mobile Suit Gundam, I wasn't aware that there was overlap between both consoles, I can double check things though
You are the author of the core?
oh ok so the Kidou Senshi Gundam is the Japan version of Mobile Suit Gundam
I guess the Gaiden games are the Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story games?
gaiden generally translates to side story, yeah.
I thought the trilogy of games was saturn exclusive though
oh the Gaiden Blue Destiny is a compilation of the I, II, and III
they probably are.... on PSX I see they dont have Gaiden in the name
Mobile Suit Gundam (PS1) is not Kidou Senshi Gundam (Saturn)
the naming on segaretro vs redump is just super confusing
well there is a Mobile Suit Gundam (Saturn) and Kidou Senshi Gundam (Saturn)
both Japan
wait in redump there's both?
the title screen on Kidou says "Mobile Suit Gundam"
Mobile Suit Gundam (Japan) (Rev A)
god yeah, okay, this is quickly getting confused
Kidou Senshi Gundam - Gihren no Yabou (Japan)
Kidou Senshi Gundam - Gihren no Yabou - Kouryaku Shireisho (Japan)
so the Mobile Suit Gundam on ps1, is a seperate game. And it has an updated version, Mobile Suit Gundam Version 2.0
Mobile Suit Gundam on Saturn, I see the box art now, is not the same game as the ps1 versions
yep, footage matches up
okay so there is no just "Kidou Senshi Gundam" on saturn, I was looking at gamefaq to see the cover art / release date / developer, they called it that for some reason even though the art and title screen just say Mobile Suit Gundam
I think I'll just start putting things into a table to make this less confusing lol
Noooo sorry
I Wonder if all component in saturn have been decaped and are implemented 1:1 like for Megadrive in the New core.
that is what I am trying to do for the curated saturn list
SegaRetro.com is calling it Kidou Senshi Gundam so that one confused me
I'm gonna guess the spine is written in Japanese while the art on front and in game is in english
so now its just these two I have to figure out I think
Kidou Senshi Gundam - Gihren no Yabou - Kouryaku Shireisho (Japan)```
ok these are turn-based strategy games
Kouryaku Shireisho is also an expanded version of Gihren no Yabou (Gihren's Ambitions)
but yeah if you're curating for english speakers, probably would leave those out
way too much japanese text
nah im just adding decent and good games regardless... but separating a tab that has the same game on psx
so I see a ps1 game in the Giren no Yabou series on ps1, but it's a seperate game
alright so the two above is saturn exclusive
seems to be
thanks
np, was there any other ones you wanted me to check?
I've tried searching but i might just be stupid. i keep getting 'drive door open' when loading some saturn games, anyonek now how to fix that?
This teeny-tiny article needs some work. You can help us by expanding it.
Kidou Senshi Gundam: Giren no Yabou (機動戦士ガンダム ギレンの野望) is a 1998 simulation game for the Sega Saturn by Bandai that ties into the Gundam media franchise. Sequels exist in Kidou Senshi Gundam: Giren no Yabou - Kouryaku Shireisho and Kidou Senshi Gundam: Giren no Yabou - Zeon...
you still need this original disc for the Kouryaku Shireisho version since its an append disc
no I think im good now, thanks
Did some more testing. I wonder what is causing the continued issues in Nights with the lighting on the characters. They still look like you could cut yourself by touching the edges of the character models. 😅
And the screen rotation effect in Power Drift still doesn't work.
Razor sharp observation
I don't know but I'm sure someone here is familiar
Obviously something missing/bugged with the VDP1
Also needed to test the improvement to Grandia myself, and
In case anyone hadn't noticed, RIP to four-chip RAM modules:
Partial Gouraud shading support.
The lighting is not implemented correctly, so every game is affected by this.
what is a four chip ram module
the early ones?
mine is ancient, but unlike earlier builds i can actually play games now
It’s a type of ram manufactured by a European vendor. It was unfortunately not manufactured to spec for unknown reasons.
It wasn’t an issue until recently with the Saturn core as it’s high performance necessitated ram to be manufactured in accordance to spec.
Who makes the 4 chip module ?
@burnt matrix did their name rhyme with "bandtonio"? because boy did i take some shit for that back in the day
either way, good to know...there is still hope for my crappy sdram
You’re correct.
I dunno.
and speaking of third-party hardware, i finally caved and bought one of ivory's i/o boards @kind stump
hah
now i just need the world's tiniest tv
Antonio Villena
although I see he sells 2-chip also
should stop selling 4 chip ones
maybe he just wants to sell the rest of his stock?
inappropriate
spain has always gone its own way, i admire their willingness to just do it all themselves
lol
seriously, they are scene unto themselves
Sat video is live
I still wouldn't sell 4-chip Rams if they have issues with certain cores, even just Saturn. At least I would leave a note on the sale page
but seeing as he sells both 4chip and 2chip, it makes me think he is just selling off stock of the 4chips
otherwise what is the point of having 2 types
especially when one has issues the other doesnt
Don't sell something that has less compatibility, is not fully tested or is going to just cause problems
Should be a general rule for anyone and why it took me so long to even be comfortable releasing the specs for the active YC board
I guess there is a chance he doesn't know, but not sure
Saturn might be the only issue 4-ram chip has
Problem is now all these people with 4 chip rams have to replace them if they want to play Saturn, but that issue could not be forseen. Sale page should be taken down now, though
Hey, does the core still have that boot.rom/boot.bin problem?
Nope! All fixed!
No
oh awesome. when did that get fixed, a couple weeks ago?
Boot.rom works
The previous core update fixed it.
Nice. Thanks.
have you tested retrocastle's implementation?
No but if it's using YC from the framework, it should be using the specs for the Luma trap
But not sure about anything else
guess i'll find out!
i was excited to have it built into the i/o
now i just need to find a 1702
From what I can tell with a very small amount of testing, Exhumed/PowerSlave seems to have improved audio when speaking with Ramses.
Nice. I’ll have to check it out. One of the best games on Saturn
Off topic but the recent PowerSlave remaster is really good.
They mashed the best parts of the Saturn and PS1 version (mostly Saturn) into an even better game.
Sonic Jam has the same problem. Guessing it’ll look right eventually
That was awesome. I’m halfway through but I lost steam
I need to finish
Hoping the shading/lighting issue does eventually get fixed. It's like the only issue some games have at the moment.
For example Sonic Jam is almost flawless, but the wonky lighting on stuff like Sonic and Tails' model sticks out like a sore thumb.
I'm sure the lighting will be fixed. It's probably just a bug in the hardware handling vertex shading.
I remember earlier versions of the core with no vertex colors at all, I actually kind of liked the way it made characters look in Sonic R.
Powerslave was so bright for awhile there too. No shadows / shading at all
That's alot of force
You could try the gog version instead, doesn't require steam
Indeed. I did a play through of the remaster when it released. Easily the best way to play the game.
I didnt know about that. Ill just play that version. I assume nothing was of use in the PC version to use
lol. Reminds me of a certain Simpsons episode.
The Shinning!
Lol nice
I have been playing Policenauts on the latest core and it's no longer loading my save data. I see my save files in the saves\Saturn folder. Anyone have any save data issues? The first couple of times I saved and restarted the device it would load, but the next time around, the game shows no save data at all.
Hell yueah! Region free bios, no need to change regions!
everything looks good here, carry on
Guillermo patrol
Haven’t personally noticed that no
For anyone that has a 4chip sdram
Oh, does that make the Saturn core work with four-chip RAM?
this core is a funny one. i noticed on initially booting the mister, if saturn if the first thing i load, it almost always fails to load the bios and the first game i load may or may not be nightmare fuel
if saturn is*
but then i just reset... not even a core reload lol
powerslave seems to be the one i can scare my friends with
Anyone here have a sdram with 4 chips ?
i do
have you tested this core for 4c ?
yes it works fine
music , sounds effects , etc nothing interrupts while playing ?
i think m usic is not perfect even with the no 4c core
but for example on sega rally it works fine that is a game that has good performance on the core
music sounds low though
in general
ok I'm glad that there is an alternative, but I think it will stay that there will be a fork for the C4, I doubt that it can be unified for two and four chips
i cannot justify yet 60euros for a new sdram module, especially if the fork for now is being updated and works. Also, I don't want to get involved on what is between official and Antonio and why there is no support for 4 chips. I happen to have this module and i will keep it as long it does its job for me.
of course , for now it works and I hope it will stay that way until the end , but there will be many more changes , who knows
These changes, which were made for the 4C, do not work quite so well with the 2C
i see, in any case i will wait for the core to be more mature and maybe then will get a new module
yes this is the best solution
How many chips on the ram that misteraddons sells?
messed around with the latest dual sdram version yesterday, I wasn't able to get Sakura Wars 2 booting anymore like I was able to on previous versions
I feel I was able to get sega ages afterburner to start on previous versions of the core; has anyone else had issues with it freezing at the title screen?
aaaaayyyyy MattoBii! glad to see you here
ngl, first game I fire up on each core update is SW1
my love of that series is partly why I'm learning 日本語
cause I really doubt the fan disk radio drama will ever get the eng translation treatment.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sK0nsXIKW3Rb-xkHZRXXqOb9yIdfoNAhF_BKSDt2Hn4/edit?usp=sharing
Another big update... make sure to check the tabs for other Saturn games
If you see any mistakes, missing good/decent/interesting games (WIP), or anything just let me know
Does anyone have documentation on the video timing of video logic of the Saturn ?
Or*
you thinking of contributing CRT fix(es) ?
but to answer, no i dont know the timing, but it has to be out there somewhere
Sakura Wars 2 boots up for me.
Game seems to be running mostly fine, mainly some graphic bugs.
well that sounds better than where it was when I last tried it at least
where every time an audio track would start it would do this loud static blowout noise and the audio was generally crackly, while the graphics and text were mildly corrupted
Haven't notice any games recently with sound problems that bad, but I do know exactly what you're talking about since that also plagued the Sakura Wars Columns game with older builds
yeah I tried that last night too, and that problem is mostly gone
it still does a slight static noise at audio track startup but then the audio is totally fine
The volume seems abnormally low, which is something I noticed with several games.
yeah now that you mention it, it was pretty quiet compared to the other games I was testing out
but otherwise that game plays flawlessly
as did TokiMemo Taisen Puzzle Dama on prior builds, though I haven't tried it on this most recent one
so that's both the big galge puzzle game spinoffs
if that's not a good barometer for progress I don't know what is
Off topic, but I tested out SEGA AGES After Burner II because apparently someone said it didn't work.
I can confirm it's broken, at least with the bundle by Working Designs. Not sure about the standalone version.
Specifically it hangs on the loading screen. The graphic is there, but nothing happens.
I take it row 247 on the spreadsheet is referring to the Demo? That's the only publicly available TL right now
sakura wars 2?
yeah, SW1 has a translation but 2's isn't out yet, but there's a TL for the demo of 2
ohhh the translation... yea I am still looking those up
This translates the Sakura Wars 2 Special Edition Demo into English. This is intended to be a reveal for the Translation Project for the main game.
The demo can be found in Redump's archive as Sakura Taisen 2 - Kimi, Shinitamou Koto Nakare...
i put [translation patch] in the title so I know to do more research
ah, okay
if its only for a demo ill remove that
fwiw, I haven't been able to get the translated demo to boot on prior builds or this one, while the untranslated one has booted on prior builds (haven't tried on this one yet)
im currently going through genres each in alphabetical order so ill get ot it
the list has no basis on if the game boots or works its just a list
for people to pick and choose what they might want
i try to leave out really crappy worthless games
but it also has no basis on if you need to know japanese to play it either
I should see if Sakura Wars Columns boots. It's a surprisingly fun take of Columns.
it looked good/decent/interesting so i added it to the list
i didnt try everything i added, so there could be terrible games that need removed
and obviously not all genres appeal to everyone so its more of a pick and choose list for people
like Mahjong for example, not many people give a crap about that
but im still gonna add the decent/good mahjong games
I like mahjong solitaire, but never played the real mahjong. but I am interested to learn it
I wanted to bring up something, I believe it is a problem with the way the core is reading CDDA tracks. I understand SRG is not taking bug reports, but thought maybe it would be good if I documented here anyway.
When CDDA tracks are replaced on Saturn games, the MiSTer core cannot read them correctly and is off, a click or pop happens when the track starts/is read. @kindred peak did some recordings of my Darius II Arranged music hack that show that on a real Saturn, with a MODE or a burned CD these problems do not occur
interesting. I was considering making an audio hack for cd tracks
I've done a few, and this does not happen on say, the PC Engine CD or Mega CD or Neo Geo CD cores
It is specifically the Saturn test core
Im going to upload some clips here, I need to re-encode them for Discord
Darius 2 Arranged on original Saturn hardware, taiyo yuuden burned CDR, no audio pops on CDDA track start
Darius 2 Arranged on original Saturn hardware, MODE ODE, no audio pops on CDDA track start
Darius 2 Arranged on Saturn MiSTer test core, has audio pops on CDDA track start
@open swan do you think this might be helpful to srg320?
not sure
Oh, well allright. If it doesnt get resolved later on its own Ill just reference these later when he's taking issues in github
i really like how the mister ui looks sat over the saturn start screen
Please don't be too stunned at my top-tier Darius 2 playing. I'll be giving no autographs. Thank you.
Just needed confirmation it wasnt me that was making mistakes when making the hack
The Batsugun Boosted Tribute Arrange hack someone else did has the same issue
Unfortunately, your list is already becoming the most defacto Saturn list I have ever seen.
With all the work you have put in and all the notes, it might make sense to just have a “meme/bad games” tab.
I think I have the analog out horizontal alignment fixed now, need to run a few more tests
Sanity check, Sega rally doesn't support music yet?
weird, using bin/cue right?
yeah
Which build single or dual?
either
This should fix the alignment issues for the analog folks
For anyone who wants to test
awesome, will give it a shot when I can
lol
yea maybe I should
Dang it
Snart flew into the sun like Icarus
I can confirm the regession on Afterburner II (Sega Ages Collection) and Salamander 2 (Salamander Deluxe Pack). Both seem to no longer work, tried both single and dual ram.
So, interesting note is that I had it hang at the title screen in previous cores but a restart seemed to fix it. No matter what cycle of reset/core loads I try now it always hangs with no activity.
To be fair, Salamander 2 is just as good on PSX in this case
If you were just wanting to play it I mean
I should move that to the PSX Vs. Saturn? tab in the list then
if its got FMVs at all they are likely better on PSX
very slight advantage
Since the last update the core will always boot discs directly after mounting an image, while before it would always boot into the BIOS menu. This is a step forward of course since that is how the real system (ideally) operates, but ... now there's no way to reach the BIOS menu, right? (except for when booting the core, but at that point there's no save file mounted)
isn't there an open cd lid option in the osd ?
I moved Salamander Deluxe to the PSX Vs. Saturn tab in the list since they are identical.... what about the other konami deluxe ones?
any aspect ratio differences or anything notable?
Someone more knowledgable than myself broke down the differences pretty well a while back, maybe try searching Parodius for this channel and finding that cause its better than my knowledge
God bless you sir!!!
seems saturn might be slightly better, but not by much
I guess this one should go in both tabs
alright i put both in both tabs, ill research the other 2 now
eh... i guess ill just put all 4 in the psx vs saturn tab only and let people decide
I should have made a DOS tab to show all of the games on both Saturn and DOS
Ok, I uploaded a new YC version earlier to my git that fixes both the vertical and horizontal offsets. That version you can get through update all and using the YC option. This is slightly different from the one I posted above. Will with RGB/YPrPb as well
hold A when booting and you should reach the BIOS
i wanna say the Japanese BIOS doesn't auto-load into a game, so I guess that's an option as well. I believe you can also A+B+C+Start in some games to go back to the title screen and then again to go back to the BIOS... not 100% sure on those, though. maybe someone else can confirm/deny
some of this stuff is documented in the manual https://segaretro.org/images/d/d5/SegaSaturnUSManual.pdf
powering on while holding L+R will bring you to the memory manager
Same here~
I wondered if to shout-out but didn't feel sure if it was OK ^^;
thank you very very much for this fix 🙂
There is a port for Tomb Raider (Check YT video -> [Saturn] Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business - Launch Trailer)
Out now! Please read the description before downloading.
After 27 years, Lara Croft has finally returned to the Sega Saturn, in Tomb Raider: Unfinished Business. This expansion to the original Tomb Raider was released exclusively for the PC back in 1998, with lead development by Phil Campbell. It brings Lara back to Egypt, where things will see...
Wonder if it runs OK on MiSTer
I was trying to see if they optimized the performance over the original
The lead developer, John, said in the SegaXtreme Discord earlier today that the rendering code is still unchanged.
Although he did optimize the level data to get it to work on the Saturn at all
I think unfinished business is on TR gold for pc/dos as well?
Yes, a team of fans just spend more than a year porting it to the Saturn. They released that port today.
yeah it is
very cool thanks for sharing this 🙂
I’ve never used anything but JP BIOS on both real hardware and MiSTer, and it definitely auto boots. Didn’t know about the boot button modifiers though, will definitely have to try these out! Thanks.
Happy Analog 🙂
Nice
❤️
my phone can't take pictures from CRT haha 😄
but i'm happy , thanks @kind stump
it can be difficult even with a professional camera
yeah i know 🙂
@thorn pagoda it's probably some kind of miracle but I turned on resident evil now while testing core from MikeS and the game runs pretty ok on single ram 😄
HE IS THE GOAT!!!! THE GOAT!!!!!
he was born in the year of the goat?
The standalone version does work. Just tested it. Takes a bit to load and there is no audio, but it's completely playable.
heads up, if your camera can do a 0.6 zoom out you can consistently get good pictures
Works great. Still getting a little bit of an upwards vertical shift with Elevator Action Returns but working great with everything else so far! Thank you!
Are you using the version on my git or the one I posted above?
From above
Yeah, use the one on my git 😉
@kind stump Ah, right, sorry, can't read 🙂 Shall grab, thanks!
@kind stump Yup, much better thanks.
Everything I'm throwing at this is working perfectly now!
Dont try PAL 😄
PAL is ok 🙂
Kind of a good rule in general
I'm not your PAL, buddeh.
Everything I've got is either NTSC or NTSC-J, so I'm good 🙂
Keio PAL
was it pal optimized
ooooh just remembered
old c
document that listed every pal game and it's optimization status
Randomised Gaming
Randomised Gaming presents a now complete list (first pass) of the 60Hz support for all PAL Sega Saturn games. We have begun a second test pass on all games and test results may change in the future. Until such time we are happy with all tests and have compared all games with an NTSC counterpart if available and on a NTSC Satur...
Am I the only one who stopped working adequately with the composite signal from Mike’s latest source?
I've got one of the VGA to conposite/YC adapters, anyone know of an inline 5V injector so I can use it with the output of a switch that doesn't pass 5V? Trying to avoid opening it up and wiring 5V into the Extron itself
Is there no support for composite signal in the latest build from Mike?
Just composite or also svideo?
Same thing here, intro video is fine but title screen looks like that via both HDMI and analog.
Xmen is OK though
I have nothing but composite
latest just uses the framework to select YC/Composite
I don't have a signal selection in the menu... 231005
PAL/NTSC? I broke PAL in that release but do have a fix
neither Japanese nor American nor European region does not work
Hmm thats the first I've heard
downloaded from here
composite works in all other cores right?
Yes
I’m about to switch my set up to composite to test
Composite works, but you need to set it in the ini file
You dont need a toggle switch anymore
I thought we always wanted svideo in the ini and to let the adapter handle making it composite?
previous build great job, only problem with this one
saturn has had a toggle for a while
That's 'normal' at the moment with the core.
Is it just me who has the problem?
I’m looking for av cables to test
I switched my passive yc adapter from svideo to composite and I get a picture. A horrible picture but it’s there
Didn’t touch my ini
@kind stump help us oh great one
whats the issue?
Do you have all day?
I noticed earlier you were asking about info regarding the video timings of original Saturn hardware .. did you find what you were looking for ?
Yeah, I released an update that fixes the NTSC offsets
NOICE! Thanks bro .. I just got off work so I’m behind on the updates
This weekend belongs to Saturn though
I will make a bold prediction! The next core update will finally fix Shining Force III's crashing when casting healing spells. You heard it here first!
oh
MISTerDamus has spoken!
Wow Blast Wind is a hidden gem for sure... good shmuppage
@naive whale You mentioned Nekketsu Oyako is a fair beat'm up; is the Saturn version preferred over the PSX version (like many Saturn versions)?
Ooh good question. I never play the PS1 version
Was curious as I had just seen the PSX version at a store before your video with the SS one (that I didn't know existed) haha
from the research I did recently for my list... it seems the Saturn is better because the PSX has some color issues. However, the transparencies are better on PSX
something wrong with the PSX color palette at least on certain level(s) of the game
try them both on MiSTer to see
hard to trust videos cause alot of them are not testing proper but forums also mentioned the color
I would say better overall color is more important than some transparencies in this case
Good to know
Crazy that that game was apparently going to be a sequel to AC Ninja Gaiden at one point.
The Genesis Ninja Gaiden prototype kinda feels like that
yeah. There was a preview of the cancelled Ninja Gaiden II for NeoGeo and it bore a striking resemblence to Nekketsu Oyako.
I.. hope that isn't Irene
Yes
Id say so. Trilogy on SNES is fine, but not really the same. Like a badly done face-lift. PC Engine version is interesting but unnecessary.. and keep away from III on Lynx
I always start the pc engine and the broken scrolling turns me off.
The SNES versions look pretty good. A decent, but overly faithful facelift. But the audio sounds funky and the controls are mapped really dumb.
Much of the remixed music in Trilogy is pretty bad compared to the original tunes.
PC Engine version has completely different music and most of it isn't great.
I have a soft spot for III on Lynx. It tried too hard to fit the NES resolution on the Lynx and the music isn't great, but the gameplay is still there. Definitely not the best version to play, though.
Most interesting thing about the PCE version is that it has an English translation that's accessible without hacking and it's different from the NES version. Odd thing is that some names were changed for the JP version. I heard Jaquio is now Jashin or something like that.
and Bloody Marth's PCE name is Bloody Master, which reminds me of a Doctor Who villain. YOU WILL OBEY ME, I'M THE BLOODY MASTER!!!!!
XD
Oh wow that looks V similar
Anyone get Shienryu to work properly?
It plays but orients horizontally but plays vertically but the controller is 90 degrees rotated or some crazy scenario like that.
Sounds like tate mode.
I was thinking Shienryu doesn't need tate, but I remember I was thinking of Souky, which is verizontal. And I actually have both games.
Still need to try Shienryu out on mister, though. I think it does have a yoko tate mode (or whatever it's called) that rotates the screen, but flips the controls so you can play it as a hori.
Tried shienryu. Dang! This is not supposed to happen. Background and score display vertically, but enemies, ships, and lives display vertically. Background scrolls vertically while player and enemies move horizontally. Crazy!
That's what I'm talking about. And no, it's not that it's in tate mode, it's in everything is mixed up mode 😛
I haven't tried Soukyuugurentai on MiSTer yet but, I do recall there were play options. I cannot remember if there are any for Shienryu.
Updated the Saturn YC build to fix the PAL timing, also tuned YC for PAL as well
nice! thank You again 🙂
Let them eat cake- err.. play in 60hz
let everyone decide for themselves how they want to play ! PAL
No! Oppress the lower classes! Raise the 50hz tax!
pal gamers were the real proletariat
omg finally thank you mikes. finally going to screw around with the saturn core now
Bring out your dead!!
looking forward to net link on this core 🙂
Odd thing is that Tate mode is still accessable from the options menu (accessable by pressing down before pressing start on the title screen, IIRC), but the menu option is cut off. If you press right on the first option cut off the screen will change when you exit the options menu and it does have tate. Thankfully, it's not messed up like yoko and there is an option to flip the controls. Sound doesn't cut off like it does in messed up mode either. Soukyuugurentai isn't a tate game. It is a vertical shmup with a horizontal orientation.
Is the one for YPbPr available yet? Also thank you for centering this core for all the CRTbros out there, you're a legend 🤙
that should work for ypbpr too
Component doesnt need any special core tweaks, just set it up in your ini file and enjoy :)
If you play in PAL, you are no pal of mine! ||I'm kidding. I love you guys! 🥹 ||
I'm not your PAL, friend.
I cant SECAM why you use NTSC
I grew up with pal. Was formed by it, molded by it. It's terrible.
Who else is excited for Final Fight Revenge once the core is public release?
It already works perfect dude
And has for many builds now
Oh dang really? Last time I tried the core, the analog output is still not centered so I'm waiting for that to be fixed.
#1046941029296779344 message
Mike S already fixed it
he is fast becoming the resident expert on all things analog video
This is where the latest hangs out
https://github.com/MikeS11/YC_Builds-MiSTer/tree/main/_YCConsole
Was just about to link that
does that comes with the update all if I enable his branch in the settings?
I presume so
brb
but not hard to get it yourself
saturn wipeout is quite playable, though the audio balance seems a little iffy
also, this has to be the worst version of wipeout the framerate feels glacial
have you played the reverse engineered WipEout on PC?
it requires the PS1 assets from the disc.
no, though i expect thats probably the best way to play it overall
wipeout64 is quite nice, the control on the analog stick feels like butter and the framerate etc is all nice and solid
I haven't played that one but I heard it's much more accessible to players who like F-Zero handling.
nah it still feels like wipeout, just with really nice analog control
its actually comparable to playing the psx one with a negcon
negcon?
definitely worth the money
if you like wipeout anyway
i kind of consider it the wipeout controller only
I bet it controls better than the driving wheel contemporaries
yeah but not better than modern wheels i don't think
the realistic degree ones? for sure.
I don't care about the haptic feedback on the super fancy ones, I just need precise steering.
Just tried the analog core on my CRT with YPbPr, it is BEAUTIFUL
Mike is a certified legend
That feeling when there's something you always wanted, but didn't know it was already a reality.
Roms loaded up. Time to head for Saturn
Where do I get this analog core and does t require unstable main?
just ran into this bug, and came to the discord and searched for this issue. yours was the first comment I saw. It has got to be true!!
If you add MikeS’s cores to your update_all settings it’ll grab the YC version automagically
Once I get a bit more confidence from others, and that PAL looks good
single
No need for dual, I've only been building single
dual is not for analog
You can use single ram for both
Anecdotally I've heard its not anymore for this core but someone who has tested it more rigorously might want to chime in
I’m not sure if it ever was
It’s only with more recent builds that the SDram timings have been fixed and people are getting even close to consistent results, so it’s a bit of a moot point
I don't see the difference....
actually.... Resident Evil works better for me with one ram 😄
Don't suppose there's been a custom build to fix the low sound volume has there?
no , there is no such
core is already amazing, there are some things to improve
srg320 is certainly aware that there is a problem with the sound
Oh absolutely, I'm blown away by the progression the core's made. 🙂
or that srg320 has made with the core, I should say.
Still some stuff be fixed/implemented, but yeah it’s in an amazing place as of now
daytona championship needs a clean boot of the mister to run it seems? has anyone else seen this?
what's the process through which a mister core gets chd support
is it true it's not actually down to the core dev but other mister devs?
once the core is sufficiently mature to be integrated to mister
zakk typically takes a look at it and adds support when the time is right. adding chd support might result in a lot of false positive bug reports if not done carefully
it's added on the software end, in the main mister binary
hehe
got a terabyte hard drive, wrote a script that would delete all duplicates and delete japanese versions if there's a US/EU version
and.. it's still looking like I'm going to have to do more trimming for them all to fit when they unzip haha
right now I have everything in both PAL and NTSC but I might have to pick one to sacrifice
Saturn port of Zero 3 is great
I was obsessed with the Survival mode in the arcade original
I played the DC "upper" version but the DC controller will destroy hands
Now I have RetroPad32 cables for DC, but I still like the Saturn port
Oh, is that what happened? Fans ported a Naomi revision to the DC?
Anyway, Saturn port rules
Oh, maybe that's what I'm thinking of
Don't have my DC setup here

New 32X unstable .. not sure if SRG authored it .. but this could mean Saturn updates soon
@drifting frigate is the author 🙂
Unrelated to Saturn. It's a fix in the genesis memory management that was locking SH (keeping the Knuckles Chaotix attract mode and title screen from drawing).
Oh thanks. I’ll check that out when I get back. (And my CRT setup is being redone so Saturn access is currently down.)
I'm guessing Yoko mode in Shienryu uses an odd display trick.
I played the latest Saturn core. Fmvs seem to be broken or go out of sync now
But it seems to work nicely so far
New YC Saturn core via YPbPr is working great on my CRT!!! Finally feeling a lot less beta and much closer to stable
The core is currently sitting at 95% utilization :S, though that type of support is mostly in main 🙂
oh i know
i was saying that zakk does it when it's ready to be done
it will still cause bugs if you dont' do it right in main
we saw differences occasionally between chd and cue/bin on very rare edge cases with the psx core, usually related to network attached storage
it caused a few false positives
Spirit Build
same experience! everything is centered and looking great on my 25" Phillips YPbPr
Should I buy?
doo ya like Panzer Dragoon, Stellar Assault & Space Harrier
$90 is steep but predictable
I love it myself
heck. combined with a daemonbite adapter you could also use it for DOS flight games
has it got a throttle somewhere ?
I bought it
Send it to me when you change your mind, Robby. 🙂
I missed one of those on eBay this morning for $40 because I forgot to bid. I hope someone here got a good deal.

that's an amazing price
Yeah I’m sure if I’d bid it would have gone way higher, but someone got a deal anyway
thanks!
