Added that to my list @sudden tusk if you find more new stuff lmk. I’m gonna do a bit capturing session tomorrow before I go pick up my new PVM

Must be the SCSP DSP doing problems on the sound most of the time (rough/scratchy sounds).

Gokujyo Parodius boots on Deluxe Pack now, nice-

However Parodius DA still has the rendering problem for me (black screen despite there being sound. Also occasionally it flashes visual output, but yeah)

did anyone have any issues getting SOTN in game with Maria? it just hits a black screen for me

Too bad, Salamander 2 doesn't boot on Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus.

A lot of new games working though

sudden tusk

Just noticed the option for the 4 mb carts

#

Sound in burning rangers is fubar

polar geode

Unless you have a large hankering for Final Fight Revenge the CPS2 core makes 4MB not needed for the most part.

Dead or Alive seems to freeze after character selection.

I'm just stoked that there's now a decent way to play Quake on the MiSTer now

I bet the Saturn core will be quite stable by then

Pentium 60 would be amazing, but who would be crazy enough to develop that? 😄

yeah but it ain't no pentium, and no FPU

polar geode

I think at some point we are going to run into limitations of the DE-10

But still black screen :S

warped cliff
polar geode

That generation seems like a good stopping off point for cores anyway

zinc vine

Yep, and I'm sure if we did get a pentium 60 core, it would probably also be crippled by limitations.

thorn pagoda

pc games are much less speed sensitive than psx ones

especially the kind that you'd want a p60 for

naive whale
#

Well this has been a fun Monday Morning

ripe valley

Radiant Silvergun works (with major sounds issues) for me. Dual 2.9, fresh reboot when doing the tests.
I've finished the 3 first stages with today's core.

Awesome. I’ll add it to the list for capturing

polar geode
#

Can confirm Dracula X is working with the improvement/language hack. I would recommend anyone play it this way over stock.

The sound effects and voices aren't working quite right, nor is streaming the music from the pcm files but I dont know if that is a Single SDRAM issue or just incomplete implementation.

Capcom wise

Final fight revenge and alpha 3 so far..

There are patched roms that remove the requirements.

drifting frigate

Groove On has that staggered column issue (as it did in the 'no expansion cart' screen) - in a lot of the backgrounds. Probably VDP sync issues. But it plays fairly well!

sudden tusk
#

Decathlete now displays properly but it has major sound issues

Some 3D effects between stages on Rayman are much more better rendered.

sudden tusk

Vampire Hunter have strange bugs : some sprites have color issues and the game tends to freeze after 1-2 stage(s).

Let’s see if panzer dragoon II has sound now

And it does !!

ripe valley

It does, you were faster than me.

Could someone check X-Men vs. Street Fighter, it seems that the intro goes crazy and the game couldn't be started.

Oh and BTW, Tengai Makyou IV - The Apocalypse is playable now.

It ain’t perfect but at least their is sound

Let’s see if saga works now

ALSO:
There are other known issues such as In The Hunt not loading until you remove the controller, Croc's missing head etc that we need to be aware of, not to confuse it with the core being broken as it happens on original hardware as well

SEGA AGES OUTRUN

drifting frigate
polar geode

PSX In the Hunt is better anyway, has the least slowdown between SS/AC/PSX

drifting frigate
#

Irem 92 just walks through the room, pushing everyone out of the way.

Has @burnt matrix tested Bug! yet? I must know the latest Bug! news. But not enough to play Bug!

polar geode
#

Does the I92 core have a turbo function?

sudden tusk
#

Shoot can’t save games on the core yet ..

drifting frigate
#

Turbo shot? Or like... 'Make side arms go crazy' turbo?

#

Either way, I don't think so. But my stick does.

polar geode
#

Actual overclocking style turbo. M92 has slowdown commonly on many games, especially anything pre-team Nazca worked on

drifting frigate
#

No idea, but I don't think so. Pretty sure it's going for cycle accurate currently.

zinc vine
#

all we need now to add snac support into this build

Doing some testing with the dual RAM build.

Puyo Puyo 2 has the shadows fixed, but there's a new glitch where the highlighted graphic on the mode selection doesn't appear.

Sakura Wars Columns still has the obnoxious glitchy explosion sounds.

Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon still runs at half speed and has glitchy sound.

Here are more SAturn games we can expect issues with that occur on original hardware

REMINDER! We're probably far off from experiencing some of the following issues. Saturn has bugs that occur with real hardware for the following games. Not to be confused with Saturn Core issues.

Croc (US & EU) Sometimes can appear headless, happens when the game doesn't initialize properly, recommended start game from BIOS CD Menu

Crusader No Remorse: Audio Cracks

In the Hunt: Game may fail to load if a controller is plugged in. Recommend plug controller after game past intro screen.

Slam 'N Jam '96: Game might not work properly unless it's started from BIOS CD Menu

Sega Ages Outrun: Game may freeze depending on hardware and bios. There are two versions of this game. Later version has higher compatibility.

Not sure if mouse support is in there yet, or anyone has looked at adding it and doing a PR, but Saturn had a lot of games with mouse support so that is going to be really fun to dig into at some point

https://segaretro.org/Shuttle_Mouse

Sega Retro

The Shuttle Mouse (シャトルマウス) is an official mouse peripheral for the Sega Saturn. It is a successor of sorts to the Sega Mouse, released for the Sega Mega Drive some years prior, and was designed to be used with simluation-orientated games where a standard control pad is hindered by the style of gameplay. It later became an accessory to assist in...

inner token

I still need to rewrite the virtual controller stuff that got added to work with the snac code. And i kind of want to wait to give SRG all the room he needs too.

#

Can't remember if there's virtual mouse, but sega mice work with snac

hallow fossil
#

Is anyone making and selling Saturn SNAC yet? Is it a more advanced board like the PlayStation SNAC rather than the Megadrive, NES, SNES etc ones?

untold lintel
#

Misteraddons has Saturn dongles for his SNAC and SNAX

inner token
#

yeah saturn will be comparable to megadrive. passive adapters to use with snac or snax. and one port only

hallow fossil
#

Would the Megadrive adaptor not work for Ataris if support were added into the cores?

burnt matrix
#

I got the Saturn connector from MisterAddons and it worked beautifully with any Saturn device I tested with it.

inner token
#

I did do a multi port all in one thing but never released it. no safeties from people plugging in everything

#

probably won't happen, the systems were different enough even though they shared the de9 connector that it's tough.

inner token
#

One major pain has been the analog pins on atari 2600(used for paddles and 7800 controller). the supporting circuitry that was in the console isn't there on mister. so a passive adapter will never work for those

hallow fossil
#

Oh, is that something that could be added?

#

Densha De Go...still wont load. Not a huge loss but its a funny game

#

@old pasture tried SonT 1.5 Extend. Loads fine

#

same setup as I told you before

#

if anything Extend 1.5 felt better than actual Nocturne but I may just be seeing things

polar geode
#

I found it to be quite the improvement

Final Fight Revenge is not booting for me but I heard its working so...not sure

Zero 2 still freezes at now loading after selecting arcade mode too for me

#

old pasture

Zero 3, or in fact none of the CPS2 fighters work. Final Fight no issues

naive whale
#

Hey Chase HQ + SCI boots now!

#

old pasture
#

I loved SCI in the arcade. What a game

naive whale
#

Works well too

#

bit of audio issue but otherwise solid

#

Virtua Cop still freezes after loading

#

Steep Slope Sliders is still a no load

#

got to name select on Panzer Dragoon Saga but then failed to load. Furthest Ive ever gotten but

ripe valley
#

Are you with a single RAM board ?

naive whale
#

yes

#

well I have dual too but its not build out

ripe valley
#

OK, I was asking because I have very different (better) results compared to a lot of people after 3 days of testing.
I'm with a dual RAM (v2.9) board and the games are on a USB stick.
Only Shinobi Legions and Guardian Heroes have regressed on my system (no-go even after 20 tries).

Personally I am waiting to play Last Bronx, Fighters Megamix, Elevator Action Returns, Virtual On and Sega Rally. Once those games work I am definitely gonna be on the Saturn core a lot lol.

I can absolutely get one. I was doing this one one-handed. I'll grab it after I'm done cooking lunch.

in my imagination...big ass hoagie

HAH! Second hand was balancing the rolling cart I wheeled out since I was using a wired Saturn pad.

#

My capture station recently suffered a monitor loss so I had to move it near my PC.

It's GRINDER where I'm from, sonny!

This current core release really lives up the name "Unstable" to be honest, consistency between setups is iffy and even between boots

I'm stoked I finally got to play Groove On Fight. It's got graphical bugs, but it plays pretty damned well.

I also can't get FFR to load, but SFZ3 loads and plays great (sound cuts out at the beginning of every sample, but it PLAYS smooth).

Zero 3's best ports are on the Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2 (preferred by tourney players for accuracy) or the PSP port with additional characters from CVS2.

Saturn has World Tour mode over the PS2 ports though.

cunning citrus
#

Capcom did a great job with Alpha 3 PSX port though, using polys to cover some effects was clever.

but realistically nobody has used the PS2 port for a decade bc of fightcade/superguns

polar geode

Doesn't CPS2 Alpha 3 lack a bunch of characters from Upper? The Upper on the PS2 Alpha Collection was basically the CPS2 version with the additional content added in IIRC, and not based on Naomi/DC

sudden tusk
#

Not a bunch .. maybe a few

I seem to get it during the post-level cutscene transitions, I think maybe the volume has been tempered a bit since the last build.

I mean we didnt have it much better over here ><

And people call Genesis music farty

our favorite @drifting frigate got me a quick capture of Final Fight Revenge. I don't care what everyone says about him...I think he's alright 😆

the ram cart needs to be positioned just right, or else it does nothing

#

drives me nuts

lusty rapids
#

those cart slots on the saturns can get finicky over time

acoustic sable
#

They really do. Trace cracks also. Lots of recommends to loosen the plastic slot's boltdowns or strip cart shells off entirely

slate karma

How are people going with booting Sega Rally on the new core? Mine was definitely working before but just get a plain white screen now. Single v2.4 XSD RAM, which tested is stable at 142MHz. Just wondering if it's RAM speed or there's something else, and if there's something we can modify in the Quartus files to get it working.

ancient surge
#

As I dig through the library, I'm noticing a trend where games are at the point of "almost flawless".

Like right now I'm digging through the Japanese library, and a common trend is games just having glitchy audio and maybe a minor graphical glitch.

#

For context I'm using the dual RAM build, so I don't know how the single RAM fares.

drifting frigate
#

2.9, 150. Also I'm using a SAMBA share, which has higher throughput.

mortal mist
#

Works with 2.9 , the problem is with 2.4/2.5

#

This will probably change in some time, remember this is still an alpha

ancient surge
#

Once the audio issues with the SCSP DSP sound gets fixed, I feel like that would automatically fix a lot of games at once.

slate karma
# mortal mist Works with 2.9 , the problem is with 2.4/2.5

Are there speed differences with 2.4/2.5 and 2.9, or is there something else that is causing the issue? Might be tempted to order a v2.9 stick if it's guaranteed to work, even if it means there'll be fewer hassles with other more advanced cores in the future.

Has anyone had success in booting up Shinobi Legions?

Anyone else get this kind of glitch?

Just updated mister and saturn

#

Is being able to save new to this release?

#

In general?

polar geode
#

I dont think saving is supported yet, at least I havent had any luck with it

green jacinth
#

I saved and loaded in both sotn and Albert odyssee

#

That was without reboot in between

polar geode
#

Weird, I couldnt save my game as Maria in NITM

green jacinth

I rebooted a moment ago I'll go back and check
