#

It was like $3 for a broken one with a dualshock

#

That was sold with a rare but shitty controller. Couldnt resist

ivory verge
#

I once wanted to use a broken ps and make myself a snac , but overall I preferred a smaller size solution.

hot marsh
#

I was just too cheap to buy a snac with memslots

#

Was supposed to customize it for proper 7.5 v but got lazy

hot marsh
#

I may have complained about the jogcon bastard but it has an amazing dpad

iron nova
#

Anybody else play the romhack of the resident evil ? The true directors cut ? I use to be able to play it but now when I try on the recent build and unstable, it just stays on the bios boot up

iron nova
#

Thank ye

abstract drift
#

which version are you using?

iron nova
#

The psx build ?

abstract drift
#

no the true directors cut

#

0.4? dualshock or original ost?

iron nova
#

Oh right, original ost

abstract drift
#

cool, just checking it myself

#

ultimate directors cut is still fine

iron nova
#

Any idea on what could be different ?

#

I’ve tried rebooting. Turning fast boot on and off, all unsafe options off.

abstract drift
#

not sure, there were some cd related changes i think

#

have you got the plain dualshock version handy? the one this patch is based on

#

would be good to see if it still works

iron nova
#

No just original ost but I can try and see

abstract drift
#

its the worst version, even i don't keep it around 😄

#

i bet kuba has it tho

#

true directors cut seems fine here

cinder aspen
#

I run into a issue with the latest core with the game Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat (USA). The game displays a black screen after the second mission "Escort To Holst"

All default settings, I've tried two different redump's, one CHD and other BIN/CUE

Turbo and other common workarounds don't seem to work

Please share savestate

I can't find any workaround for the problem

#

did resident evil work for you kuba?

Resident Evil - True Director's Cut (Original OST) v0.4

#

@iron nova maybe try replacing your image?

iron nova
#

Okay I’ll try that now and see

iron nova
#

Nope. Still black. I dunno what it is. I didn’t alter the file and had played it many times before just fine. Game is also running fine in duckstation

#

I'm having some similar problems, with unverified good dumps that used to boot and now don't (castlevania single bin and tales of destiny 2 single bin were the ones I know offhand)

#

both were from dumped from personal copies, likely using imgburn or dvd decryptor, can't really remember

#

single bin/single track stuff that I dumped seems to work fine

abstract drift
#

there were some changes to single-merged-bin lately

manic citrus
#

there was a fix for pregap that got merged last week. previously there was some changes to single bin/multi track that fixed some things, but the pregap issue snuck in with that

@ivory verge @abstract drift I FINALLY FIXED IT! Thank you for helping. Sorry to waste your time over dumb stuff but I was in confusion

hot marsh

Are there any non chd titles?

Have six of those PSone consoles and all lasers died. ☹️

final plaza
#

@hot marsh CHD is just a format that is a compressed bin/cue into a single CHD file. Think like a ZIP or RAR file.

hot marsh
#

yup, just wondering if for some reason there's an incompatibility

hot marsh
weary patio

I'm very thankful for the core, wonder sometime what I should do with my 400+ physical PSX Games.

no problem, you don't have to worry about anything anymore haha

keep the games 🙂

weary patio

Hahaha, yeah it's just to nostalgic. Love to check them out from time to time, but it's a lot less then before MiSTer.

ivory verge

even for sentiment if not their value

weary patio

Never started collecting for the money, I only buy games that gave sentimental value. 😊

wanton crown
#

tbh I've sold every PS1 title I owned just a few weeks ago thanks to mister. Not looking back

#

I should be thankful to people who'd still buy some of my games for a high price somehow

#

for it makes your realize the average person doesn't even know about ODEs, and even less about FPGAs and mister project. And even when they know, they don't make the jump. By experience that's what I always see, even among retro enthousiasts

ivory verge
#

I do not collect games, I have some , but only games that have special sentimental value for me

wanton crown
#

I'm mostly only keeping pokemon games now

ivory verge
#

I like more "all in one" solution, so MiSTer is perfect 🙂

serene nebula
#

I collect games, MiSTer kinda killed that for me lol

ivory verge
#

well, kill the mister 😛

serene nebula
#

I’ve got close to 450 PS1 games

#

I’m basically tapped out, outside of a few expensive games

tulip moat
#

It's kind of insane that 450 PS1 games isn't even close to the amount of PS1 games that were officially released.

@serene nebula, name 5 games you wish you could get

it's not that easy 🙂

storm barn

Do you have Chicken Run?

serene nebula
storm barn
#

Not really, it is just a game that I like. Also there is a Dreamcast version.

#

Ray Tracers is great too.

serene nebula
#

Like a modern chase hq

serene nebula
#

When I can just get the tambourine for cheap

hot marsh
#

probably japan

#

it's hella expensive on ebay

#

I just hope it's not just a box

#

I literally bought this variant " - The machine is empty, no game disk provided."

#

I'm assuming it's missing the game only since the price diff was like $4 only

#

do you have any of the fishing controllers? Worth it?

serene nebula
#

they’re ok, they work surprisingly well

hot marsh
#

would you recommend them?
Thinking of just buying 4 more controllers and calling it quits

serene nebula
#

I have some third party one that’s a little wonky with the modes but once you figure out what mode to put it in, works great

#

I mean if you like fishing games. There’s a couple of decent ones.

hot marsh
#

mostly because no other stores are selling new controllers lately

#

I mean, I liked the one in breath of fire 3 lol

#

the sega dreamcast ones were okay

#

despite the wonky analog mine had (it's not physically centereD)

serene nebula
#

I’d say go for it if you can get it for cheap and you should be able to, nobody clamoring for fishing on PS1 lol. There’s quite a few fishing games though, surprisingly.

hot marsh
#

Yeah, I think I'll end up getting that stupid conductor tact controller

#

since there's like 4 games for it

#

at least I won't feel bad for it unlike the tambourine that only works with 1 game

hot marsh
#

aww store that sold the tambourine cancelled the order, it was apparently out of stock
sadly had to buy the more expensive, unused, but complete one from ebay

#

it will probably take 3 months for me to get it

forest trench
#

There was a full boxed tambourine + game set at my local hard off a month or 2 ago, for about $5
Problem is I don't have a lot of space for limited use peripherals

hot marsh
#

Wow. Wish i saw it i stead of the $6 controller with $60 shipping

forest trench
#

There's also a boxed Saturn twin stick for $30 I've been ignoring for the last few months

oblique frost
#

yeah I've seen one of those at a hard off nearish to me, though the box looks a little rough

forest trench
#

I actually prefer when they don't keep stuff shrink-wrapped in its box
I'd prefer to see the condition
At least with consoles they'll put the box lid underneath before wrapping

oblique frost
#

yeah I prefer buying loose, mostly just because boxes are wasted on me.

random gust
#

You would probably want a twin stick boxed though.

#

Unless you are Really Really Big Man.

A Samba set is actually one thing I do want eventually, my kids would get a kick out of it (using Wiimotes just doesn't seem the same)

buoyant plinth
#

Geez. I was expecting nonsense but uk eBay sellers are asking near £400. Japan stays stable at £130 free postage.

bright yacht
#

I did a proof of concept version of Samba de Amigo VR. It feels great to play using vr controllers. Need to finish this project.

#

The original maracas (and probably the ps1 tambourines) are interesting. It uses ultrasound to know it's position. On the dreamcast each maraca reports X and Y just like an analog stick.

#

I've also mapped the vr controllers to output as a dual analog stick and been able to play on dreamcast emulator. This is another thing that I might explore in the future. Might be also possible to use ps3 move controllers and camera for this. So many options 🙂

forest trench
#

Pretty cool
Could you get that to work with a real DC?

tulip moat

hot marsh
#

Is there a chance we can have guitar freaks as a controller?

#

It's kind of a mess using other guitar controllers with it

#

Due to them lacking buttons and conflicting button assignments

#

Although only 1 game will benefit (technically 2)

serene nebula
#

You mean as a controller option in the core? The Guitar Freaks controller works perfectly though SNAX.

bright yacht
hot marsh
#

It does but how about for other people that have only guitar hero controllers. It is a horrible experience due to keymapping problems

hot marsh
bright yacht
#

any ps1 to switch adapter? or custom one?

#

as I see, the adapter must understand how the ps1 device encodes the info

#

the official switch controller (ZKNS-001) outputs the power and brake handles as analog stick.

On Composite through Direct Video, is resolution switching (psx games) seamless using this Rankie HDMI to VGA adapter https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-HDMI-Adapter-3-5mm-Audio/dp/B00ZMV7RL2 connected to the Mister Addons YC Active board?
Also, how is the quality of the audio out from this?

hot marsh
#

the only harder to find ones are the live ones (at a good prince) since iOS version is trash and most people have lost the dongles

#

but not as bad as wavebird gc controllers

bright yacht
#

Even without the dongle, it can be modded using ardwiino. Actually, most of the GH and RB devices can be directly wired to an ardwiino device.

hot marsh
#

yeah that's the probable best option for low lag

#

at least dtxmania has lag adjustment

#

albeit manual.

#

if I didn't get my guitars relatively cheap, I probably would have done that wired mod

#

at least I get to use it on Wii U's revived guitar hero servers

also the last code looks strange, this is not a valid address in psx

#

but i'm not sure why it's even there. The cheats list linked only has the first 2 lines

#

but from what it looks, i see no reason why it doesn't only need line 2. I mean, it writes to the same address, what is even the use of that? the cpu will never see the first write

Im hesitant on the TGM2 port right now because the main quirk of the game is it runs at 61.XX hz or some incredibly weird number

so I'd need to see how the port handles the refresh rate when porting it to mainstream consoles

I’m getting some weird behaviour on Parappa The Rapper where the game kind of loops around and doesn’t show a menu that I’m expecting to see…
When playing in easy mode, after the end of the third stage, there should be a menu that shows up saying it’s the end of easy mode (see: https://youtu.be/sCu-RKziP6U). When I play using the most recent version of the core, it plays the FMV at the end of the level, and then immediately starts playing the FMV at the beginning of the game - which, if you don’t know that easy mode ends at level 3 (like I didn’t), gives the impression that the game has restarted.
Pretty minor, but I wanted to flag it as it might be a bug.

Universal Nuts is a sci-fi visual novel featuring two protagonists, Yui and Ai, which get involved in an incident onboard a space station. As the story progresses, the mystery of events that have occurred start to unfold. The game plays in a typical visual novel style by reading through on-screen text and dialogues to progress the story. Character icons are present during dialogues beside the character art over the background image, and the game features both animated cut-scenes and voice-acting.

tropic stratus

some gun games used a resolution change to indicate that you shoot 😅

hard laurel
#

Oh good 🙂 hahaha that is a new one on me.

#

Change resolution when a shot is taken, I imagine some CRT's may have flickered when this happened.

tropic stratus
#

it's a trick, they store e.g. a full white image in the vram and when you shoot, switch to that image for 1 frame. Because it's fully white, the rsolution doesn't matter, so they store the white image in the lowest possible resolution, while the game runs at higher res

# tropic stratus did you save the memory card in OSD?

sorry - not sure how to do that. Interestig thing is that the original saves are on the mem card but the overwrites are not. So say I create a new save called SAVE A, then overwrite it with a new save (SAVE B). While the system is on I see SAVE B in the mem card, but when I turn it off and then on SAVE B has disappeared and I only see SAVE A

tropic stratus
#

in OSD, there is a option for save memcard

#

this can be either autosave or manual

#

when it's set to manual, you have to save using the "Save memory cards option", if it's autosave, you only have to open the OSD

#

the "Memcard Status" will tell you if the memcard is saved back to sdcard or not

#

usually you just set it to auto and open the OSD before turning mister off

#

if you have network connection you could take a look if the memcard on sdcard has changed after saving ingame

#

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but i currently still assume it's a user bug 🙂 maybe there is some issue with saves, but i would be surprised no one else reported that before in the last year or so since it was last changed. I also completed Klonoa in multiple session and didn't encounter it

Hi. I need this option. Not being able to return to a "no memory card inserted" state is not very good. It is like not having a unmount image button on Daemon tools. I once had to load the card that loads when the core boots without disc to transfer a game save, when a game was loaded. Now when I go to the memory card screen before loading a game, the same card loads on both slots.

eager fog
# abstract drift this happens to basically every mister user

I checked and it was set to 'save upon opening OSD'. I changed it to Manual. I tried to overwrite the old save. Same issue. The save was not overwritten. Let me ask this differently - what should the set up be to use the mem cards as intended by the original HW?

storm barn
#

did you wait until the game finish saving to memory card before opening the menu?

tropic stratus
#

if you still encounter the issue, please: create a memcard with a save(you should have one) and create a savestate when the game asks for saving and upload both. Then we can try to replicate by loading the savestate and saving to memcard

tropic stratus
#

i know, it's not very obvious, but it's the standard procedure to unmount any disk drive on mister

serene nebula
tropic stratus
#

just a note why this tedious procedure of opening the OSD to really save the memcard is even required: when the memcard is saved to sdcard, the Host system (HPS/Linux) is busy with writing back the memcard and cannot supply CD data anymore. This can lead to game crashes for some games, so the game must pause. As i didn't want the game to pause out of a sudden, this is done when the OSD is opened, which should always pause, unless this OSD-Pause is deactivated, which the core tells you is not recommended.

#

to help with understanding it, i added a indicator if the memcard was already saved back in OSD that acts very much like the LED on mister that would also signal that a pending change has not been written to sdcard yet

hot marsh
#

Anyone else guilty of having the OSD pause off?

It's an expensive loophole, but if you want you could get MisterAddons's SNAX with a PlayStation adapter, an original multitap, and an actual, physical memory card. You don't have to worry about opening the OSD to save there, but then you will have to worry about using controllers meant for an actual PS1. Otherwise, just get in the habit of opening the OSD to commit a save. This has to be done with other consoles, too, so not a bad habit contract.

This person's YT content, which is PS1 focused, is so good.

So many ps1 gems.

The PS1 has such a great diverse library. Not every console has that.

ASCII GameCube Keyboard Controller has been brought out back and shot, sorry for the mix-up. I hope you're ready for a very special episode of Obscure & Forgotten PS1 games because I somehow made 10 of these... so we might as well celebrate. Let's take another deep dive into the PS1/PSX/PlayStation library. Good games, bad games? Only the wheel ...

I like Synology brand because of its simplistic and easy setup and SHR file system.

vestal thicket
#

I built my own years ago and it all still works. It uses freenas/zfs and works great. That said, it's way more complex than something like a Synology. Synology is probably your best bet if you just want to buy something off the shelf and keep it simple.

slow tusk
#

Their SHR file system allows you to just plop any set of SHR-raided drives into any Synology hardware and it just understands what it's looking at and integrates the drives without much extra on the user end. It's too convenient for a casual dabbler in the storage arts like myself.

vestal thicket
#

Yeah, if you're technical at all you can do your own setup with much more power, flexibility, etc. for cheaper. Synology you're paying a bit for the convenience but they tend to 'just work' which is awesome.

Considering building a 100TB NAS now that Google is enforcing limits on shared drives 😔

Wondering how much power a 5 bay Synology full of 22TB disks will consume though 🤔

tropic stratus
#

as it's some kind of homebrew, can i friendly ask if they have optional proper controls or is it tank only?

ivory verge
#

Tank only 🙂

tropic stratus
#

too bad. the first minutes of the youtube video looked promissing

serene nebula
#

but tank controls are proper controls? bowserthink

tropic stratus
#

i guess if you grew up with them it's ok. On n64 i never had them and the only game i really played on ps1 was FF8, so i never learned it and i will not start it now 😅

serene nebula
#

nah I was trolling, I get the reason behind and logic implementation for tank but I think there’s been enough clever solutions to allow for screen oriented controls without losing the presentation of camera cuts to different perspectives.

Although the intent with tank controls in Alone in the Dark and Resident Evil was to make it easier for players to control their character, it ironically was more difficult to learn for most people.

scenic reef
#

I didn't like tank controls even back then. You get used to it, but it's like getting used to a bad tennis racket.

summer sage
#

bad tennis racket, that's a relateable metaphor

scenic reef
#

For me it is haha. My mom was on the champion high school team

#

Tank controls are unwieldy :p

summer sage
#

IKR, how do people even drive

scenic reef
#

I don't have much experience driving tanks, and when I drive it's not from the third person in a top down view :p

#

Pressing up to go south because you pressed left until you slowly spun around, confuzzles me

hot marsh
#

I feel tank is intuitive for changing camera angles while being chased

#

Otherwise, it's clunky af

still palm
#

not sure if calling them tank controls is really accurate since you do all the movement with one stick.

#

and as mentioned if the controls were different it would really be unintuitive during those angle changes.

abstract drift
#

every time i play a game with fixed camera angles but not tank controls i'm reminded why they're so good

#

like devil may cry, you switch screens, now you're running right even though you're holding left on the analog stick

#

this is intuitive ?

tropic stratus
#

are these games different to the FF games in that regard? i never had a problem in FF with the controls there. Sure sometimes, you run the wrong direction after a screen changes and you go back to the previous one, but it's rare

#

for me tank controls feel super slow to move around. I would probably blame all deaths to the controls

strong hatch
#

You move decently fast with the run button in classic Resident Evil. But basically every room is essentially a movement puzzle, how do you want to proceed. Do you want to spend some ammo to remove an enemy or do you want to chance dodging them. The more you play them, the more you get comfortable running past things or taking the occasional intentional hit.
It gets very fun on repeat playthroughs trying to do things fast and remember every little task you need to do. You realize how short the games actually are though. Only a few hours at most

abstract drift
#

its less of a big deal with FF games since they're not action titles

#

also since FF has a fade down/fade up on screen transitions, wheras in DMC they're instant

still palm
#

I was trying to remember how they did it in FF since like RE you run around with 3d models on 2d BGs

#

with RE up is forward regardless of screen angle

abstract drift
#

tank controls are super reliable once you get used to them

#

(also yeah why are they called tank controls, thats not how you drive a tank at all :D)

#

katamari demacy has literal tank controls

still palm
#

whoever came up with the name never drove a tank is my guess

ivory verge
#

In the version of Resident Evil HD , where you can choose the control, I always chose "tank", that's how I learned from the first Residents to play and it's hard for me to change.

abstract drift
#

yeah the RE0 remake has that too

strong hatch
#

You can do some funky stuff if you use the modern controls, the enemy AI is really not designed for it

abstract drift
#

yeah its funny how they use them in speedruns

strong hatch
#

REmake did such a good job of making the zombies feel scary again. Even when you learn how to bait them, it's still kind of hard to do it consistently. Makes each room a lot more tense lol
Also crimson heads are a fun addition

ornate walrus
#

Tank controls in RE are like the difficulty setting in Souls games: it's part of the experience. The gameplay is dependent on it for a reason. Dodging zombies/monsters attacks is supposed to be a challenge.

abstract drift
#

they're also inherited from its obvious inspiration, alone in the dark

serene nebula
abstract drift
#

when you first start out, you should just shoot every zombie as safely as possible, you never really need to dodge just act like a turret

ornate walrus
#

The AitD remake is looking promising. Funny how now it's drinking heavily from the modern REs.

abstract drift
#

play on easy and make sure you carefully search everywhere for ammo and its no real challenge

ornate walrus
#

Unless you're playing Code Veronica and people manage to not have enough bullets by the end of it.

abstract drift
#

ok yeah CV is actually hard

#

but there's 3 resident evils to play before it you should be getting good by then 🙂

ornate walrus
#

Happened to more than one of my friends back then "I don't have enough bullets to face this boss"
And once I checked their saves, it was indeed true. LOL

abstract drift
#

the boss at the very end of disc 1 is where i got stuck back in the day

ornate walrus
#

I play every RE like CV. By the end of them I have enough bullets for a second playthrough. But RE2R they choose to punish people like me.

abstract drift
#

i actually found that and RE3R a nice challenge

ornate walrus
#

The game adjusts itself to your play style. I felt robbed, but loved it anyways.

abstract drift
#

yeah its really tightly tuned to like, basically force you to use all your ammo sometimes

#

its smart, since thats basically every veteren RE players biggest fear at this point 😄

ornate walrus
#

Indeed. The original RE2 is one of my "relaxing games" or games to play while having a conversation.

#

RE7 was the first RE since the original one to actually make me scream at the TV "Why can't you just die!?"

abstract drift
#

i can't wait for the RE4VR thing to come out at this point

#

VR really puts the tension back into the series for me

#

its like the exact opposite of tank controls, now you have perfect 1:1 control as if you were standing there yourself, can you reload the shotgun before that werewolf gets up though?

ornate walrus
#

VR is something else for sure. For me who loves onrails shooter it's a dream.

#

But I finally got a guncon 3 for mister. Have a blast with the old Master System games that I used to play back then.

cosmic tulip
#

My opinion on tank controls is a bit weird. Imo because that era of survival horror was a direct evolution of non point and click adventure games and those were mostly tank controls. They just added guns and monsters with stuff like alone in the dark and bioforge etc

tender tartan
#

Not a huge deal, really. The hacking part is the limiting factor for the amount of fan translations that get done.

bronze pulsar
#

The script still needs to be dumped from whatever game by someone capable

tender tartan
#

Yep that’s the first step. And then the most work is usually in getting the translated script into the game in a professional looking and bug free way. But that part is usually easier with 32-bit translations compared to earlier consoles actually.

Welcome House is an interesting fully AI localized script. Somehow the incoherent script makes it more enjoyable lol

Should I be worried that the intro audio of Colony Wars 1 seems to be clipping, and HDMI audio output shows 0dB (max volume) a lot during the intro?

serene nebula

Also in Colony Wars Red Sun USA version, the intro is very far down the screen. The PAL version intro is centered correctly.

I am pretty sure the game was designed with PAL in mind (designed in Leeds UK).

wasn't this the FMV with very strange resolution, like only 128 pixels height? i think the aspect ratio calculation didn't cover resolutions so low. You can see if you open the OSD and go left

scenic reef
still palm
#

ok but who named them that? maybe we need to correct them. it was probably just something someone came up with to describe the controls and it stuck.

#

there's probably been a variety of controls for tanks. like two levelers to independently control tracks, steering wheels, etc

#

if one stick controlled one leg, and the other stick controlled the other leg in RE i'd say yes those are tank controls and hilarity would ensue

ivory verge
#

Origin of Tank Controls

Named so because it necessitates horizontal movement in a way similar to how an older tank would move.
storm barn
#

It wasn't because how an actual tank would be controlled.

still palm
#

what would you call controls that act like how an actual tank would be controlled?

storm barn
#

There is a tank game on Atari 2600 that was controlled like that, up down moved tank forward and backward, left and right turns the tank.

storm barn
#

Classic survival horror.

#

I remember how I used to hate them, but eventually got used to them.

serene nebula
#

it never bothered me, but I never have issues with controls in games so I shouldn’t comment lol

storm barn
#

I had some, when you play a game for a while, then go to play another with different controls.

still palm
#

i think it works for those games, also limiting controls can be effective in horror games.

storm barn
#

You could run on a straight line even with the camera angles changing.

still palm
#

yeah I have a feeling the controls came about because of those angle changes some being a 180 of the last one

storm barn
#

Newer 3D games created elegant solutions for this "problem". Like keeping the direction even if wrong until the player moved the analog stick.

ornate walrus
serene nebula
#

I wouldn’t call that elegant. The moment you stop pushing I. The dieuxndjdjxndj @ornate walrus beat me

ornate walrus
#

I think there is something to enjoy even on the most weird controls like Skeleton Crew or Sub-Terranea on the Genesis. For ST changing the thurst to a button is a must though.

#

I remember being friends with the rental store owner and in the late 90's when he was selling the 16bit games I asked "What about Sub-Terranea? Have you sold it yet?"
"Nah, that's goes to my collection. Only you and I actually had some enjoyment out of that one."
It requires a neurosurgeon precision to play it properly. Very easy to die on that one, so once I played the first RE I was right at home.

serene nebula
#

You make a good point. I grew up with PC and played isometric games on NES. You become used to weird controls so your tolerance is high.

ornate walrus
storm barn
#

I was friends with the games rental store near my home back then, one night we played Twisted Metal 2 coop till late night on a 29" TV, after he closed the store. It was very nice. We got to the last stage but lost to the last boss.

ornate walrus
foggy quiver
#

The fmv is shifted down and touches the bottom of the screen.

#

But, Colony Wars 2 is a bad PAL to NTSC conversion anyways. PAL is way better.

storm barn
foggy quiver
#

It is worth finding the best version of each game. Since Psygnosis were based in UK, many of their games are optimized for PAL, and then converted to NTSC. The Colony Wars 2 intro looks way worse in the US version, it has ghosting artefacts because they did some bad 50 -> 60 Hz conversion on all the videos. Also, circles got stretched vertically to ellipses when they converted the game to NTSC.

#

I wonder how many other games are better on PAL. I am sure Wipeout 1-3 are better on PAL. The billboards look better (no Red Bull ads) and the physics are better on PAL. There's even a special edition of Wipeout 3 only released on PAL. That shows the dev's PAL priority.

ivory verge
quick gyro

Colin McRae Rally 2 is better in PAL, like way better but it was mentioned here a lot already 😄

ivory verge

these are just the names of the games, it's the inside that counts 😉

#

haha nice 😄

ivory verge

quick gyro

i really love the Game but after beating novice mode the advanced Mode got so hard on the Winter Levels that i never could win them

serene nebula
#

@quick gyro is the framerate the same in both versions?

quick gyro
#

i think its 50hz in PAL

#

But the Speed difference in the PAL Version makes the PAL Version the best Version for me, it feels like the Game was ment to be played in that speed. No idea what they did wrong when porting the Game to NTSC

ivory verge
#

well finally for 5 min I feel good, everyone trampled me when I wrote that I play PAL versions of games, I experienced a trauma until now I can't get up 😛

quick gyro
#

i grew up with PAL and i cannot see or feel the difference between 50hz and 60hz, i get the difference between 60hz and 30hz but 50hz is good enough for me 😄
