Hello, been playing "tax evasion" on Xbox console Via Game pass. Last night, after I interacted with Rutabaga cat (??) I lost all my progress and stuck with just "A" trip option. No sword, watering can nor the portals. Hats disappeared too. Then on interacting with the mailbox, got a bunch of new hats but game is stuck.

  1. What was the last "story" thing you did? (Example: defeated a boss, e.t.c)

I just finished the main story and went on to continue to do the train and 100% but i also was hit by the glitch once i talk to the cat i lost everything no watering can, no sword, no hats, no documents, just the train ticket from the mail box. Im stuck not being able to do anything else but trip and that's all

also were you missing any hats or tax documents? the cat shouldn't appear unless you missed something

On Xbox and my game progress stayed I just lost all the items, hats and documents I had so now all I have is the train ticket cause I grabbed it after I talk to him but I can’t cut down the bushes to get to the train or the items to get the rest of the items I missed

Pretty much. Not exactly sure on the timing, but it was definitely when talking to the cat. Not the first time. The first few times, it pointed me to something below that was missing (dictionary?). Then I came back to the cat and that’s when it happened. And I messed up further by quitting (which also saves) cos that made it to the save now.
Funny thing was, after I lost everything, I was able to get the ticket and the seasonal hats, like 3 or 4 of them

Also, now I started a new game now to get to 100%

For context, I just spent a while attempting to reproduce the issue to no avail

I have a very similar issue, however it wasn't when talking to the cat. I had not played the game in several weeks because the last 2 achievements were bugged on Xbox (||destroying the nuke and killing ???||) and upon loading the game today since I see people are unlocking the achieves I'm stuck without tools or weapons.

Also I had completed all the collectibles previously, but now the cat is trying to direct me towards the love letter quest in town, which is already complete, if that helps any. Something with the latest updates and collectible/achievement checks etc must be causing the issue.

I just had this happen to me as well. I just turned in the fork and was traveling through the forgotten forest and just met the researcher. I saved and quit. Next morning I spawned back in veggieville and had nothing but my hearts that i had earned. No hats or equipment. I tried deleting my local save and repulling from the cloud to no avail. Playing on Xbox Series X with the game installed on internal memory.

hey, i’m having the same issue. playing on xbox series x and it still has my at the end of the game- but all of my items are gone, effectively soft locking my game.

i talked to the mayor which caused him to go into the greenhouse, went into the bunker and solved the first puzzle/room before saving and logging off, then two weeks later when i logged back on absolutely everything was gone, everything was fine when i got off originally. i play on my brother-in-laws game pass, if that helps

HI there! I just started playing the game and also beat it! I loved this game and can't wait for the next. BUT I just ran into this problem :/ Here's the deets: I had just bought the 10 gallon hat with the lemon outside the train, then saved and quit and turned off the Xbox (so yes, I am playing on the Xbox via Game Pass). I came back around 5 hours later, and though I appeared outside of the train, all my hats, ripped up docs and items disappeared :/ I still have all my hearts (all but 1 it looked like), and train tickets. I found one forum online with other people explaining the same problem (a couple comments that were timestamped this month and last month). But hey, this game is so great that I found you on Discord, big WIN (and I'm recommending this to everyone). Anyways, just wanted to give more info in hopes this can be resolved... one day! Good luck brave knights of the bug world (developers) ❤️
