I don't really like the events we've had a lot of lately that are just big buffs to cards from some random combination of collections, or with specific words in the name, etc. They all feel about the same to play, and often require trading for a bunch of obscure high rarity stuff (which is why I preferred stuff like the common event, as even if you didn't have all the cards you could still easily trade for them).
The base rules every event have been the same for a while, so they haven't felt special. I like the shorter games, but I want to see more experimentation with the game rules.
Then there are the event spotlights - I like them as an idea to make the event cards more accessible, though I prefer events that don't need them in the first place, and for that reason I think they are potentially a bad thing, as they then force avid to release events that allow them to easily make a spotlight pack for them, producing a cycle of boring events that just feel really similar. Finally, I'm not a fan of the new cards in the event spotlight - while I like that they are eventually guaranteed (something I'd like to see more of throughout the game) I don't like that it gives a big advantage in the event to those willing to throw a few hundred gems at it. Events are supposed to be casual fun, so making them favour those with gems to spare feels wrong.
