further ui improvements, added a stats page, fixed teapots of doom. gunna add some more to the teapots, like a bigger map and different sizes. Currently working on a cross-server cross-place datastore for avatar customization and player counts

I have it in a localscript and for whatever reason it tells me it needs to be in a local script to work, which doesn’t make any sense since it is indeed in a localscript 🤣. Same script works in all my other games so idk what’s up with it. Haven’t bothered looking into it
Probably doesn’t look right because 2007 was never made for mobile. At first it didn’t work at all, although rn it’s still not great 🤷♂️

you could look for the very first mobile show off and recreate those buttons

text looks a lil larger because textscaled is enabled so the mobile buttons aren't wack
what's odd is the 2007 buttons in the actual client aren't center aligned but also aren't all the way to the left

wait are you making a custom studio? those buttons to the side with the robloxian look very retrostudio-ish (or old roblox-ish)
or is that some studio extension you have downloaded?

to do it to the level of retrostudio would def take a year or more for me considering my lower free time and one man who's never done anything like it before
what they've done is insane
well it doesn't have to be as crazy as block coding
you can just do the usual stuff you'd see in 2007 studio, like a list of furniture-like stuff, the tools and etc
you don't have to add scripting
ye I do plan on making the edit list useable
so you can edit your own place a little bit

Players all work and spawn correctly now. Zombie models don’t load correctly at the moment

haven't been able to work on it since the attack done on my workstation; my windows drive is pretty much fucked. i've attempted to fix it through linux but i've had very mixed results. might have to wipe everything and start fresh

This was the first version I made of said leaderboard. The current thing uses some styling from a direct game rip and one of those free model ones, it looks similar but if you grab one of them it won’t be the same, in functionality or look. Now, I DO need my own system for leaderstats. I was initially digging through the novetus 2007 client in an exe2hex editor I use on the linux side of things that basically decompiled it; however, using said code, although the most accurate to the time, wouldn’t be functional in a 2022 client 🤣. 15 years of lua updates won’t be kind to a non-polished product from 2007

Anyways Xapieday's game is objectively better as it can't just fall back on using retrostudio's built in stuff and is still being improved, while my game is mostly just retrostudio's 2009 with a fake character and some janky guis.

Haven’t posted an update in years because I took a very long hiatus from roblox, but anyways, I’ve made some progress recently
UI is now fully functional. General player list, FFA, or 2 team based. Backpack is dynamic and adds or removes gears as you get them. Chat unfortunately broke in a recent update (so you will only see your own chats locally and no others), but otherwise all good. Physics are closer to what they should be, but arm collision isn’t quite right if you compare it to 2007 era physics. I would also like to redo the stud texture as this one is kinda iffy in my opinion. Character customization is nonexistent still as I’m legit just starting this project back up. Working on the points system and will use that for era specific hats, then allow classic color changes, and change the player to the correct colors for team games (all black body with team color torso). Some basic shirts and whatnot too eventually. Idk what I’m gunna do to connect it all yet so that will probably take a while
Also mainly just fixed a whole mountain of bugs that popped up over the last couple years away from development. Obviously still bugs to work on, but far more playable than before.
BTools work in the starter place (fixed the previously fixed versions of them by clonetrooper), gears are fixed, etc. No character customization yet, nor have I liked the ko/wo function to a data store, but it does count the places you visit and gives you a badge for trying all of them. Also added a player count list through a different datastore that returns the complete player count from all servers of a specific subgame
I am aware the lighting is a bit inconsistent after the removal of compatibility.
The font is inconsistent in this video but has been fixed overall. Also gunna redo the game icons in a bit
This is the current homepage. Idk what to replace the center magenta bar with, but it’s pretty ugly I think. Maybe just move the games closer together and then add different pages with other games. Lots of classic revivals, some with my own twists, and I’d love to design more era specific games. I didn’t start developing until 2009 and thus nothing I made is really 2007 era, although some of my early games are very close to something you could theoretically run in a 2007 environment
And finally, I’ve been using the novetus 2007M client as a reference since it’s a genuine roblox build that’s just set up to be used in the “modern era”
Anyways, if you read all of this, thank you. Let me know if you have suggestions. Idk what kind of progress I’ll make as I’m married with a 2 year old now and have a career and stuff, so my life is pretty busy and doesn’t leave too much room for this anymore 💔.

If you compare to old builds, the UI is significantly improved upon and doesn’t look like a complete mess. Not 1:1 with og builds, but close

my first place file from 2009 does open mostly intact in the 2007 client. compared to the screenshots i have of it in 2011. so i could probably redesign it in the novetus 2007M client and then port it back to modern roblox so it's "2007 compatible"
