Recent versions of DCSS added the talisman of death. It's a shapeshifting skill that makes the extended game a lot more accessible. It was surreal being able to complete all content in the game on a Int: 10 axe maniac 😂

torment is the greatest threat in extended, to folks neither immune nor resistant, and the talisman of death puts you into death form which grants complete immunity to it 😁

a good resaon for a game to be hard is that it's complex or requires a lot of knowledge -- but ONI is hard because the duplicant AI is terrible

getting good at ONI is larely just working around the absolutely terrible duplicant AI 🫤

hey, but it has some mechanics that are pretty complex and reality like

i was amazed when i noticed gasses had densities

haven't played in a while tho so i dont remember much hahaha

its hard as a first experience i would say

when u get hunderds of hours, the difficulty is what you say

it has a lot of science stuff, but it's soo janky/buggy/inaccurate

for example, if you pipe cold polluted water into a water sieve it'll output cold clean water
but (without deconstructing any pipes) if via automation you start pumping hot polluted water into that same water sieve it'll bug out and output cold clean water 🤨

and like, speeding up the game doesn't just speed up the game, it changes the behavior of the AI -- some things get more efficient, some things get less efficient

yah, but it's absolutely not for everyone -- i've seen a few streamers breakdown in frustration because they didn't understand why the duplicant AI wasn't doing the one thing it was instructed to do

and this is a game where a single bad mistake can absolutely ruin your run

speaking of terrible games i just bought a steam game and after my credit card was billed i press install and then I get a legal license that says i give up my human rights etc. whats up with that? shouldn't you get the contract before you pay?

usually you'll get a legal thing once u boot into the game which is also bad. but this prevented me from pressing install, but was still after i paid 💅
