Theoretical shortest (counting Izaro) it's 9 rooms. Each section comes from a very limited array of "shapes;" the first section (the "kite") is one of the few you can reach Izaro after just 2 rooms.

Similarly, the third section (a "zig-zag") is usually not that long, given the last room almost inevitably is a Basilica Halls or Sepulchre Halls where you actually enter in the upper-left, and the door to the final Izaro is barely offscreen to the upper-right.

Main main here is that there's a gold door, with the middle section being about as long as it gets, and there being four trap sections that are unskippable.

2, 8, 13 & 15 are "Annex" rooms, so always a loop that starts with a trap before the item shown on the icon (e.g, a key or door) and a possible second item that can be found before reaching the former.

As for this layout, there are trap sections in 3, 4, 6, 9, 11 & 14.

If a room has a trap section, it will always have the same trap section that day for everyone, but the exact form of section can vary randomly from run to run.

There's a finite number of actual room layouts, that usually can be described entirely by the room's name, the number of connecting doors, and whether there's a trap gauntlet & where.

It's just how today's labyrinth was generated. any 2/3/4-way rooms can generate with them, or they can not. If they generate, it will always generate for every player on every run for that day. If they don't, then likewise no one will see one.

Also the name of a zone tells you a fair bit of what it's like: the first word means its tileset, and there's 6: Sanitorium, Basilica, Sepulchre, Mansion, Estate, and Domain. The first four are indoor, and the latter two outdoor.

Probably because normally people download a Compass File for LabCompass (which is some JSON I'd not yet studied enough to write myself) which does include this data.

It makes it a lot easier; it is 100% within the rules to use, too, since it doesn't actually interact with the game itself; it just scans the log.txt (a running file where PoE constantly outputs chat & system messages) to detect when you've changed zone, read what the new zone is, and display a pre-drawn map for that, that includes the general layout, trap sections, where the doors are, what two spots treasures/secrets can spawn in, etc.

That works, again, because there's a fairly limited number of actual room layouts; the exact construction of each can vary a little from run-to-run, but the same general path will take you the same way.

So for instance, today's lab starts with an "Estate Crossing," which means it's a partly-outdoor section with four exits (counting the one you start at) and will open to a fairly small-ish courtyard; a door along the lower-left will go to an interior space with one exit, while doors along the upper side of the courtyard go to a separate length where the other two exits are.

That explains the blue lines (and thus where to find each exit) though there really isn't much worth bothering to re-color a "shorter path" (SuitSizeSmall hasn't done that in years) nor has he put the red ring to highlight rooms with traps. (on this one, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14 & 15, so... Most of them)

Orange "A" indicates the room Argus is in (it's on the center rather than below) red dots indicate rooms with Darkshrines, and blue dots indicate rooms that have either a Labyrinth Trove (has a small chance for a Grand Spectrum) or a Curious Lockbox; (has a Treasury Key) I added an "E" to indicate Escort Gauntlets, which are slow and awful and no one should do them.
