I've made a ton of money value betting after I quit Forex because of the pandemic

Now I'm.l returning back to trading with my better understanding of trading thanks value betting. And oh boy I was doing Forex before the pandemic proper wrong way.

I am not a betting man at all. If I dont have an edge I wont trade it

Neither was I. But I bumped into strategies that were profitable. They had an edge.

I was placing dozens of daily bets.

And the more money I was making,.the higher the stake per bet. 1% in the begining. Then switched to Kelly.

From £1 timid bets per dog bet on greyhound racing and the power of compounding I ended up placing bets on odds on favourites £2000+

We'd log all of our bets and strategy showed that we had a 18% ROI.

ROI works different in betting than in trading. It's more like expectancy.

So for every £ bet, profit would be 18 pence

Everything moves smoothly with minor stakes up to £20 or £30 which is what the average punter bets.

But we'd run into problems once we started betting £50 £200 £500 on value outsiders or even value favourites

Obviously they bookies caught up with it giving us trouble with their updated betting machine softwares. A thing that would hurt our 'liquidity' per se a lot. Our value bets were getting rejected.

It's a nice feeling receiving a big stack of GBP notes wrapped in rubber bands.

We wanted to bet more but we couldn't. So here I am back to trading where if I have an edge, liquidity is huge.

Now with my understanding of betting I'm back retrying Forex with a more mature approach.

Would it be possible to grow a £100 to be £1000 in a few weeks?

Obviously that's a 1000% in a few weeks while hedge funds make 20% in a year but understandably they get filled on prices far below to where they entered because they'd wipe out the liquidity on several price levels.

While my £100 to £1000 is a tiny nanosize liquidity sucking

Going into trading with a mentality of potentially being able to turn £100 into £1000 in a few weeks is the reason 97% of traders lose money, trading is a marathon not a sprint. Trying to flip accounts is just pure gambling and wont work with trading in the long run

You would have to be pretty astute to grow 100 into thousands a weeks, or beginners luck. More likely to loose it.

That I know mate and I understand money management very well to keep myself from over leveraging. My point was laid very clearly.

Taken that liquidity id use would be peanuts than I wouldn't have no issue with slippage.

Many trades per day that would add up.

With betting we'd have little liquidity but high ROI with dog racing. So the ROI per hour was high but no liquidity.

Then we switched to football which comes with lower ROI per hour but we had liquidity to match our big stakes.

I guess with all these tickers and instruments I can find lots of opportunities per day to turn £100 to £1000 in a few weeksbut I'm not expecting to turn 1 trillion to 10 trillion in the same timeframe because there is obviously no liquidity at that price level

Just to make myself clear, I know retail traders are clueless, they do no money management, they deviate from their strategy that is completely unbacktested , over fitted etc I'm far above these newbie levels

Not sure whether my following question is appropriate for this discord server. I did my best to find a paid algo trading community because paid communities on subscription basis are the best place to find quality support and advice.

What would be a great versatile flexible indicator or combo or parameters to add on cTrader and run it in order to find me strategies with edge?

Or cTrader is not good and should look to do that with some other tool?

Regarding many algo communities around Trading view:

My question is whether it's viable to use TV for my algo trading.

For 1: They do not provide you with accurate tick data unlike other platforms that do which take in consideration the essential commissions and spreads.

In TV I have to manually input the commission. But there is no way to know what the spread was during backrest when all those back tested trades opened.

And for 2: TV doesn't offer a parameter optimization tool.

So to conclude, how is TV any helpful compared to what else there is out there?

@hallow linden There is no right or perfect setting. Do you detailed analysis, best to use multi-timeframe, learn to read candles, use PAC for OB levels and then use S&O indictors for confirmation. If you get 60% trades right you are doing well & you will be hugely profitable. And no, there is no magic bullet.

@ivory raptor What's up man, just got algo today and I'm working on setting up properly two indicators. I'm pretty solid on my entries. I mainly use price action to help with my trading rules and confirmations prior to entering a trade. But I see the videos are a little outdated on settings wise. Wondering if you use this indicator or any similar that has a good setting with gold Asia/Tokyo time zone. So far the data has been really good for helping identify Price action, support resistance, BOC so im liking it already. Just need to calibrate the settings more.

I use only a few settings out of the box. On PAC mainly OB for 15min, 1 and 4 hourse, S&O I have ST setting 1 or 2, & TT setting 2, ema 20 & 200 for direction. Thats it. as trigger I often used BE candles or simply OB

BE usually give me about 10 signals but I dont take all of them

I usually though mark out my zones well before hand, like daily and weekly highs & lows, marking areas of interest especially when I see fake sells & buys which may indicate a potential reversal situation

it visually heps you see structures and key levels

In the Community Streams, I often talk about the Premium/Discount Zones, or the Strong/Weak High/Lows, in the Price Action Concepts toolkit:

Premium/Discount Zones
Strong/Weak, High/Lows

Remember, these two anchor levels (H and L, premium and discount) are from the most recent swing points, so the metrics at these levels are from that structure, but of course price can still bust up or down.

But the further it busts up, we know sooner than later, this will come back down.

So these metrics gives us clues on how much further it can go. Its like how long do we want to hang onto the move, or do we really want to jump in now?, at the risk that the move could be over anytime soon. Just something to think about when you are entering or managing a current position.

I actually want a strong enter long and enter short alert with the multi condition alert and watchlist alert option from Tradingview. Any idea about the best enter condition using Luxalgo? Goal is to make $1K per day with that $200K account.

All conditons and alert triggers confirm at candle close, never during the formation of a candle.
You can try to adjust timeframes or settings if you would like to see if it is possibel to enter early, but if you do change the strategy settings, then the strategy itself will be changed.....

@ jyo If you don't have a strat already create one with AI, maybe 2 or 3 and test them out back and forward testing to gain confidence in them. Dont trade too many of them and give it time to work. Many newbie trader try to force or rush it and jump from on strat to another after just a few days looking for the perfect one with no losses which does not exist.

If you use technicals stick to just a few indictors, MA 20/200 is perfect as is OB & matrix. And most importantly, use multi-time frame for analysis

Looks like it’s in a premium zone on the 5m chart, I’d be wary about taking any longs at moment based off your screenshot

You could always check the 15m timeframe and see if there are any higher order blocks or where it is in regards to premium/discount zone on the higher timeframes

Bias for tomorrow on US30 1 hr chart leans cautiously bearish whilst price is below the LH and Premium Zone. A bounce toward 49800 -49900 is plausible first, but unless price reclaims 50+. the path of least resistance still looks down towards 49200, and potentially 48874.

Watch open reaction if it pops up into the supply zone and rejects, thats a sell signal. If it holds above equilibrium 49500 and builds, bulls may be on the prowl

157.00–157.20 is a natural target — it's where the FVG sits and aligns with the PDH we see on the 1H chart
a measured move that's reasonable in size (~50–60 pips)
What to watch out for:
the squeeze was at 100% — if it fires bearish instead, the demand zone at 156.40 breaks and the trade is invalidated quickly
The daily rejection from 160.70 is still looming — so even if this long works, the bigger picture bias is still bearish above 157
Price is currently at 156.67, right in the middle of the setup — ideally one wants entry closer to 156.40 support, not mid-range
