Gold opened in a gap up and did show no signs of stopping with that DXY gap down , these market open trades are very risky especially gaps and i do not recommend trading this unless you know how to trade the gaps

But all the conditions aligned, I have confidence on what I’m doing and already started the week strong 💪🏽

This is because either if there is an orderblock or not
but my setup is complete and I have all the confirmations I still take the trade since it was also at a major resistance level prior to the setup

internal orderblocks can be broken anytime specially on the 5min chart since it is short term price movements,

The orderblocks I consider the most are the ones on higher TF and also the swing orderblocks

I mainly use the order block to set my SL and target a 1:1 RR

Of course it is always best that there is no orderblock blocking your trade but again the 5min TF is short term price movements so you should trade accordingly to your higher timeframe bias

1 trade and done ✅ , wait till next day or a really good setup . Just don’t take every choch or bos. Be patient and wait for the best opportunities

@finite warren here’s another example of a long that has 2 orderblocks above before and after 1:1RR

There a tons of strategies that work, there are strategies that others have that are maybe better than mines but the point is that I have a strategy and im successful with It because i follow my rules , i do not care about buying the bottoms or selling the tops , all I care about is getting in and out the trade successfully following my rules

You can have any strategy in the world but if you lack patience and don’t follow your rules you will never make it as a trader .

I’m not trying to have everyone trade like me , I just want you guys to learn , to adapt, and get creative, it’s always good to test things to see how you can improve it.

Don’t depend on someone else strategies like your life depends on it .

Use the strategies to learn and make it your own strategy 💯 always push yourself, always study , always practice discipline because without It you will struggle

1:1 is a very reasonable exit , since all trades are not the same and you will have different RR , example this trade is a 1:1RR but you will lock in 98pips

This other one was 1:1RR for 45pips

1:1RR is the sweet spot

I was trying to automate a scalping strategy for gold and it worked extremely well on all the back testing, but when it came to real live trading it was not profitable because of the spread and slippage but works better with zero spread , it’s a 10pip scalping bot

I tried all backtest models , forward , real tick data , optimized and the results were all great but These results were raw , no slippage and zero spread that why these results were crazy , so it will never perform the same on a live market unless I modify the EA accordingly to spread and slippage, it was an error in the code

I ran it on demo and it was still profitable on US30 for about a week until it just wasn’t performing well

I still plan on fixing it eventually

How many times "DID WE" target THAT OB thats was 30 pips away, and price went up 10 pips, and came back against us, to smack US in the face?, and when WE weren't looking after the smack (SL hit), price then went to hit that OB? Just take your dam 5-10 pips hard target, about 5-7%, and wait for another entry. Rinse and repeat tomorrow. Meanwhile, those that got smacked in the face with a SL that got hit for 20 pips, still licking their wounds and trying to go for another OB for 50 pips, to make up for the previous loss.

I use a trailing SL when I see big ass candles. If it's on a slow day like Monday or Friday, take profit then come back to troll. If it's high volume days like Wednesdays that print big candles, have a target. On XAUUSD I trail after I hit 50. But I'm patient and I realize others aren't that much. Cause I can wait for a good high volume set up and fail to take trades than take small ones

BUT when we hear someone just got a 50pip TP, then our eyes open in disbelief and we want to know what, when, where and how and what strat, RIGHT? Because we DONT believe it. Example, FX is 24/5. We all know, the big moves maybe happen once inside the 24 hours period (if that), the key is, will you be awake to wait for it? BUT we ALL KNOW, any hour, any minute, any day, it will move 5-10pips, guaranteed. We can wake up any time, any day, and wait for an entry to steal that 5-10 pips.

It's simple. It ties back to everything Micky and QQQ said. Expecting that the market will move to your take profit is what I was referring to as a "first-timer" move. But I've been notified this is the wrong vocabulary to use since it confuses the sentiment with "first-timer" traders. I retract the use of first-timer but I do not retract the point. People expecting their trades to move how they want is not a wise way to trade

@terse haven nice revision to your strat, I have updated my charts. When I get the time, I want to do some backtesting using bearish or bullish PAC changes to exit the market early. Do you exit trades if you get a PAC indication trend is changing such as trend line, highs, lows, BOS etc? I am a little divided on this at the moment, sometimes they seem to be red herrings and you lose the extra pips, sometimes they get you out nice and early without going to SL.
