The market gets very volatile on news , it’s better to stay out of the market until news release so you can know if the news was good or bad for that pair

A lot of things could happen during a high impact news , any analysis could be quickly invalidated

For me this all depends with the movement and the entry I took ,

It’s a personal decision when moving ur stops

Some trades run straight to your TP and some would come back in and out from ur entry so moving ur SL to break even shortly after entering in profits it’s a decision u need to make

I personally like to leave my SL where i initially set it at , once I’m at least half way from my TP I close half of the trade in profits then move my SL to BE , so in the case price would come back to my entry and break me even atleast i secured half profit on half the trade

I go based off the rules of the challenge and the account size , keep in mind of your limits , specially the daily drawdown rule
The max daily drawdown is 5%

So limit your size based on your account limits , risking 1% per trade would be ideal

The larger the account size the greater will be ur limit , but still risking 1% is the safest way to go

I always make calculations when I take a trade I do not look at how much i would make

I rather look into how much i would lose with x amount of lots and where I would place my SL in order to not loose that 1-2 percent if my trade goes against me @native mirage

It is doable, you can probably make more than 0.5% it all depends on the trades you take

Depends on the account size I size my lots but I personally risk more than 1% per trade , but aim to not lose more than 2% idk if it makes sense this way

Example on a 100K account I can’t loose 5% in any given day which is $5,000

I trade gold and already know that with 1 lot every $1 gold moves in your favor or against would be $100 or -$100

So for me to lose the 1% gold would need to go $10 against me for me to lose $1,000

WHAT IF YOU LOSS 5% but your account still in positive net profit what happen will it violate any rules of them?

Yes if it’s a new trading day

Example if I made 10k today , normally now I can lose the 10k back and will not violate any rules for the day because the 5% counts on the beginning balance of the day

But after 5pm est it resets

So if i now have 110k i can only still lose 5k

Correct , the 10% only counts from the deposit/ initial starting balance in whole

The main objective is to never drawdown from the initial starting balance, the first trades you take on a challenge you need to try to win so you can stay consistently above and follow the 5% rule

I personally just have the histogram alert , you won’t get an alert for every single candle that closes with the histogram above or below, only the first time it happens @rare zenith

Just make sure to set the alert as once per bar close

Does it have to break on a good size candle or any candle will do? 2. You need the MACD to be blue for longs, purple for shorts. 3. You need the histo to be above 70 for longs, 30 for shorts.. 4.You need the oscillator to be green and up for longs, red for shorts. You don't really use trend catcher. Your sl is at the most recent OB and tp is at the next structure or at your discretion?

#My version of Jav's Strat possibly allows for more trades, but lower TP. They are designed as sniper quick in and out. I am trying to develop something that allows me to not need to monitor trades for so long, and on really busy days still make some money.

I don't think this would be a good option for completely new traders, you need to be quick and to get the most out of it, be able to use some discretion with not taking every possible trade.

It is a work in progress, and I am still playing with whether candle colors should be a hard rule or not, and tweaking settings.

Long Entry:

1. Previous bar crosses above 14 SMMA after a sustained downtrend. (Trend hasn't been chopping back and forth over the SMMA).
2. Current bar opens above 14 SMMA.
3. Advanced Oscillator Blue and increasing. (Don't have 70+ threshold at this time, but obviously preferable).
4. Stochastic Green.
5. Neo Cloud Green OR price is obviously crossing through neo cloud and a change to green seems likely.
   5.Candles Green (Currently trying the Premium candles).

Short Entry: Opposite of Above

Entry:
SL = below previous bar (add on pips for spread). Designed to be very tight.

TP = 2.5 X Risk (Or move SL to BE to ride a strong trend). Personally I exit if I notice a change in the market or volume decreasing. If there is also a BOS or CHoCH I would move SL to BE and try to trail the trade.

Settings:
Everything is the same as Jav's Strat, just turn on Neo Cloud in Premium and add SMMA indicator (set to between 10 & 14). I have Trend Catcher and Tracer turned off.

Here's what I see, Jav took certain pieces of LuxPrem to make it simple for him to visually see his scalps set-ups. Confirmed structure changes for entry trigger is a good rule. A "rule." And everyone knows, Every rule based strats dont win 100% of the time. Yes, waiting for structure change could get you in a few bars later into the move. Now we can use other triggers (like your SMMA) and get into a few bars earlier. But there's pros/cons for any entry, what you gain, you may lose on something else. Your early entry is good, but maybe the risk is false break out and maybe more SL's vs waiting for BOS or CHOCH. But the pro is, you may take a bigger bite of the move. Now if we use structure change or confirmed continuation structure for trigger entry, we may get into a move a little later and our take home TP could be smaller. But the pro could be that waiting for a structure confirmation could be less riskier than SMA as it's only a wavey line on a chart, as structures are steps that price needs to take. So both entry triggers are good, you just got to use what is visually better for you....

Dont get me wrong, I did put that SMMA on my chart a few minutes ago and I see what you see. BUT the important thing is, what is visually easier to read, what entry rule is easier to see, during live price action......that is the key. What is less stressful to think and pull the trigger

And your entry trigger is good, if it works for your eyes, then awesome. I have no issue with your SMMA, maybe a little safer is to increase the length to maybe 20, would this be more safer? dont know....would it be easier to spot an entry? dont know. It's up to each of us to find that out for ourselves

@echo kiln your spot on with your observations, all things I was weighing up. This Strat would definitely have a lower win rate overall. But potentially that would be balanced out with the returns. My logic was the very tight stop loss. I have been evaluating my trades and why I am yoyo'ing so much. I was getting an easy 80% win rate, but what's stopping me truelly progressing is the $$ I am losing on my stop losses. They seem to be way too big in comparison to my average TP. So two things are happening here from my observations. I am not entering the trades early enough to hit a decent RR overall. My trades are falling back and ending in losses if I try to force a decent RR. My Stoplosses are too big if using the previous order block.

I was trying to mediate these issues with my version of the Strat, because it's definitely a fantastic Strat as was.

I would take a trade with a PAC change, over without.

And at the end of the day, I was a big fan of my moving averages when I was a crypto scalper. Old habits die hard 😆

What about taking the best of the best setups, let the other setups pass you by, and wait for the better ones. Trade less, higher win%. Then later down the road, increase lots. Just an idea.

The idea is to try to trade less but the best possible setups instead of consistently looking for a scalp

I would definitely not want you switching to one of my little trials! You are obviously onto a good thing, with a strong underlying knowledge of trading and risk management. I have given things a lot of thought and I think where I am falling back is highly likely overtrading...and purely psychological hang ups. Stemming from being under a lot of financial pressure and having lost a consistent income. The temptation to just try to squeeze in those couple extra trades late at night is my undoing. I will make nice gains, and then take myself a step backwards. I just need to be stricter on my bedtime and stop trading when i know i will start emotional trading due to being over tired.

Good point , you already know what you need to improve, be determined to stay focused and follow the plan

Overtrading is not good , simply being patient and waiting for the setup is optimal for a more probable successful trade

1-3 good trade setups in a day is enough
Always wait for the best levels to take trades , there’s a lot of manipulation in the markets so knowing when to stop and stay out is important

So the less trades you take but more precisely on the best possible levels , the more consistent you will be ,

As for emotions we all feel it, we all want to be always making money all the time . And that’s when we start making bad decisions.

but you can test it , it is the same rules just a different chart just open the nas chart rewind and look at the conditions of where you would have take the trades and determine it’s profitability based on your backtest

If it’s not consistently profitable with nas than you can adjust and find a sweet spot on where it would be profitable

For anyone that is testing other pairs that I don’t trade and strategy is not consistent, consider changing the settings of your Lux premium to medium term or turn off autopilot and find the best settings for the asset or pair , and you can probably get the strategy working much better for your favorite pairs , PAC stays consistent across pairs and assets

But if conditions are not met because candle coloring then get creative and adjust settings and you could probably find a sweet spot

I have two preferred take profits. one at 1797.32 and 1803. 1797.6 is a naked point of control from previous value area. will undercut that slightly. thos nPOC are nasty rejection points and great targets

That’s where I trail when holding full size , in this case the market is reacting to news so I closed out almost all at the first pump and sitting at BE

Sometimes a candle will breach the tracer just to keep on running back in so you get stopped out and trade still runs , I try to get the best entry posible , secure some profits and leave runners at break even
