Can anyone tell me why this is being detected as an ascending triangle and not a rising wedge? I noticed often times the patterns are off, and then they take hours or sometimes days to dissapear?

it can be caused by a variety of things, here the price does not match the full requirement for a clean rising wedge, such as persistence of tops distance, I can eventually review that if you give me the ticker and tf. It is important to note this feature can't be perfect, but we sure are improving it. When a wrong pattern is detected you can still use it for obtaining support and resistances. Hope this helps.

Patterns can take some time to disappear because of how they detect tops and bottoms.

Hi there , I am testing exit sells alerts to trigger automatic sells via Cryptohopper TradingView webhooks. What I want to test is that when an exit sell alert is triggered, the alert sends a message to cryptohopper and the assets sells automatically. Is this a good idea? Or would you recommend to always check on market conditions, patterns etc before selling?
I am not too clear if I shall use the ‘Exits’ alert or toggle the ‘Exit Sell’ option of the Any alerts function call? Keeping in mind that I want to make sure it is an Exit for/whilst longing an asset (ie not after shorting an asset or when the algo believes it is a local bottom). Many thanks for your insights

The main issues with this are:
That'll spam the channel so so frequently it makes the high timeframe alerts useless as users get spammed + we don't really like encouraging trading on lower timeframes so in general we suggest setting your own alerts for these timeframes however in the future we may make an opt in system for this

Hey, many thanks for your reply. I have been testing a bit and using the ‘Any function call’ give me clear certainty that I have an Exit Buy alert whereas using the ‘Exits’ I am not sure I will get an ‘Exit buy’. If I use the ‘Any function call’ I don’t have an alert message field needed to instruct Cryptohopper to sell automatically by the trigger alert…. The message field exists with the ‘Exits’ alert but I don’t want to automatically sell an asset under a wrong exit alert (could be an Exit sell or buy, hence sell at the bottom instead of top 😜). Ah yes this is the issue with all in one alerts; there's no message field sadly 😦 You'd need to set some sort of server up to parse these alerts.

Not trying to get the secret to the code or anything, mores so out of curiosity given the nature of how well the upper, mid, and lower projections usually end up fitting the actual price line

Ahh, I really enjoy that feature honestly. Now that it isn't, I'm going to back test a Winters-Holt model over different data on different time frames and see how the modeled forecast compares. It would be an interesting consideration if it ended up showing pretty strong output but your alpha/gamma/beta values would have to be optimized quite often pending the market environment

So contrarian signals don't really apply naturally

For simplicity sake (this isn't how we do it exactly) if you filter going with a macro trend you will tend to have a level to confirm this

I am struggling to understand what those tentacles do. I read in the documtation that it is an Cycle Oscilator. But how? What does one such tentacle say? I think it is not about momentum, as that is shown by the other oscilattor. Why is some tentacles longer than others?

The cycle oscillator aims to show the cyclical price variations of a specific period, when it is above 50 (in green) it means the cycle is mostly bullish, in red bearish. The cycle amplitude is not constant and is mostly based on whether it is actually present or not, that is cycle variations closer to 50 with low amplitude means the cycle is not present.

Indicators are not the same as a strategy. You cannot backtest RSI for example. You're confusing the idea of confirmation signals being a strategy rather than their intended utility which is for the confirmation of a trend.
Backtesting them raw is essentially useless as applying a filter or TPSL method would totally change the result.
